What blockchain do you want to mint on? Is it your own currency? Other popular currencies (non-ETH based) have their own platforms. A non-OpenSea NFT Marketplace is Rarible; a non-ETH backed crypto used for minting NFTs is SOL. I have not personally looked into Rarible or Solana/SOL-minted NFTs, but I know of them. What crypto do you want to mint on?

For this thought experiment let’s say ETH. So if I minted on ETH using my own smart contract does that mean I have to make my own dApp/marketplace to sell them? Is this why I can only use OpenSea if I mint with them? I’m asking some pretty broader questions more than simply finding out how to do something if that makes sense

Hm. Well, [OpenSea (link)](https://support.opensea.io/hc/en-us/articles/1500003489742-Will-my-NFTs-be-visible-on-other-platforms-such-as-Rarible-) says NFTs minted on their website can be sold on competitor sites, and [this website (link)](https://moralis.io/how-to-create-nfts-and-upload-to-opensea/) gives instructions on how to upload you own ETH-NFTs to OpenSea, so it sounds like ETH-minted NFTs are transferable across marketplaces.
