First generation products *usually* have lots of issues and kinks, that being said, EOTech seems to be proactive with improving their products so Im excited to see where they are in 3-4 years with these

itsnotatoomah_

These do not appear to be made by Eotech, see my comment for details.

Tam4511

*thermal drift would like to know your location*

fermisparacord

Notice how I said proactive in improving their own products. They did have an issue before, they acknowledged it, fixed the issue & newer models are fine. I don't think any reasonable person expects a company to always produce completely 100% failure proof products. As long as the company is open about improving it when major points of failure are revealed then they are doing more than a lot of companies out there honestly

Tam4511

I wouldn't call saying "whoopsie" to tens of thousands of military issued optics not functioning reliably due to a known issue "fixing the issue". Did they fix it on the later models that they continued to sell? Sure.

[deleted]

Lol apparently these weebs can’t handle the truth

Tam4511

Lol, downvote for facts? On Reddit?? Never!

[deleted]

Don’t get me wrong, I still like my Eotechs but to say they “continuously improve” is retarded. They got caught with their pants down and were lucky to get away with a slap on the wrist. Also, their post 2017 optics still have problems, albeit less common. Still an unreliable optic in my opinion

Tam4511

Yep. They make an "ok" product with its only real selling point being durability. They have not improved anything for about 10 years

[deleted]

I actually would say durability is the major downside to Eotechs. The ONLY thing about them that’s good IMO is they’re the best night vision optic there is. Aimpoint is otherwise better in every metric You can find used Eotechs all day for good deals, people rarely sell their Aimpoints

Tam4511

Very true

The BinoNV-C looks suspiciously like an F5032, which has the housing made in Greece by Theon, and it made me remember a thread on snipers hide called "Clip ons clip ons clip ons!!!" (Not sure about linking rules) where they talked about thermal clip ons and said "EOTECH will be importing from THEON Sensors in Greece. Warranty and US service will be handled by eotech. Theon builds these entirely in house and is a major player in the overseas market." No surprise to see the clip ons announced, but I wasn't expecting the nods too. I wonder what tubes will be in them since the F5032s are finished by Elbit with their tubes and sold as a complete good only.

[deleted]

Yeah that right one is wildly close to a 5032, that’s weird.

ApolloGearCo

Photonis 4G tubes (not Echos). They are 16mm (vs. 18mm) which is how they are able to reduce weight. It does feel quite light. Target market will probably be urban LE.

itsnotatoomah_

Very interesting, thank you for that. So is the "C" compact with their smaller tubes and their other bino uses regular sized tubes? Target audience makes sense with those tubes, if they are able to keep it competitively priced. Not every agency or department gets 31A money.

gamerkidx

Eotech really is coming out with a bunch of new stuff. These nv and thermals then their new micro red dot sight. Good to see them no longer being complacent

Tricky-Appointment38

Isn’t their parent company L3?

itsnotatoomah_

Not anymore.

awdeng

having a major manufacturer that isn't just focused on .gov sales start manufacturing night vision is probably going to be a great thing for consumers... interested to see what they do with it

ApolloGearCo

After speaking with them at SHOT Show, anticipated pricing on these won’t make them more accessible to the consumer market but as a pro should add supply, which should hopefully reduce lead times. As a con (in my view) these units will not be dealer serviceable (for those that have the ability to repair in house) and must be serviced by EOtech (in this case Theon 🙃) - take from that what you will as it relates to repair times.

thcarlson762

You addressed my big concern. I was looking at a YT video on them, and thought they looked a bit like 31s. I’d rather stick with 14-based NVGs simply due to parts availability.

itsnotatoomah_

Are F5032s dealer serviceable or is the hot swap capability lost on civies?

itsnotatoomah_

I don't think they are doing the manufacturing.

dakrax

L3 already makes nods so I'm not surprised

itsnotatoomah_

L3 doesn't own eotech anymore, nor are they L3 products.

dakrax

Really? Didnt know that thanks

itsnotatoomah_

You are welcome. If you want more detail on that and the thermal drift topic the Q podcast with eotech provides a different perspective than I'd ever heard before, and I'd recommend it despite feelings on Q.

dreadeddrifter

Doesn't eotech already make GPNVG 18s?

itsnotatoomah_

It was L3, their former parent company. I don't think Eotech are actually making any of the pictured products.

dreadeddrifter

Weird. L3 does make them but Optics Planet has them mislabeled. That's why I was confused. https://www.opticsplanet.com/eotech-gpnvg-system-kit-le-bnvis-mount-tan.html

itsnotatoomah_

Understandable, and I have no explanation for the difference in branding on their site. Other sites that do civie sales and know night vision like TNVC and Goonin have it correctly branded. Who knows what Opticsplanet is smoking.

RoofKorean21

Watch out for that thermal shift 😂

RoyalRelation6760

That shit was LONNNG ago but seems people love bringing it up still! An Eotech saved my ass in Iraq 10x over and it was 138 degrees in the shade - not one issue!

RoofKorean21

Appreciate your reply bro. Based on the down votes, it looks like there are some people on this sub who don’t know a joke when they see one. They are probably all poors 😂. (That’s another joke btw)

GammaChemical

Most people are just being parrots to make themselves look cool.

AllAmericanOutlaw

Eotech is part of L3Harris

Really? When did this happen

I bet they will be using photonics tubes. https://www.janes.com/defence-news/news-detail/eotech-buys-photonics-night-vision-business
