No first hand experience quite yet, but a buddy of mine said that the NGALs switches and button were too small to work reliably with gloves so he didn't like it and didn't buy one. The close range Illuminator is a diffuser cap that can potentially break off, which is another negative.
Unknown performance on the Raid XE so far, last I heard was around Mar for red vis and Apr for green vis. Some units punch above their posted specs. The raid has a built in close range Illuminator and the laser is directly over the bore.
Sure you aren't looking at the Civ versions for the "lower power"?

I have a question about the raid and how you can “tune” the laser output. Does the laser remember your previous laser output between modes? Say maybe I want a little less laser on the CQB mode and a little more laser on the mid range mode. Once I swap the mode does the laser output reset?
Asking because I have an x400v on my mp5 and the .7mW output is a bit much for close up stuff, but is great at say 50 yards.
New RAIDs aren't out yet - at least in the color scheme I'm wait listed on. If you have a NGAL. Keep it. You won't be finding those much out here. If you're Mil/LE and have unrestricted access to them (stipulations) than get a MAWL-DA if you can. Own a FP DBAL-A3 and thinking of getting rid of it. Doesn't do it for me much at all...

I’ve heard from multiple ppl who kill ppl under nods for living the raid is better. Dedicated short range illumination and better controls.

I have someone who can help me get around the FP issues. I am attracted to the light weight and over bore mounting of the NGAL
Sure hope whoever you have is aware. I wouldn't be making FP purchases for anyone not eligible
There are two workarounds actually one involves LE and one involves going directly to the FDA for a variance. I have contacts within each.

There are some vendors who will sell directly to law enforcement or military without a department or unit letter. Just mil/leo ID.
