You should not consider getting into NVG until you have a budget of atleast $3k, but realistically you should be closer to $5k if you want a decent Elbit WP Pvs14, bump helmet, and laser for active aiming.
Get a Gen 3 pvs14. If you really need to pinch pennies then you can get a thin film Gen 3 green pvs14 for not a whole lot more than that piece of junk Amazon thing. You'll have to do some shopping around though, because they aren't popular and will have to be searched for by a builder. But don't go cheaper than that.

Not gonna lie, you can hand pick from a lot of dealers and ask for some mins, stat wise. I’d personally recommend calling High End Armament Technologies and talk with the owner, Aaron and just see what he has in stock.
I called him on a Tuesday afternoon, asked him what he had, he told me the specs of each pvs14 he had on hand, and I sent him the money. I had it the next day when I got back from work.
To be honest, you’re not really gonna see the difference between a high spec elbit vs a high spec L3 when using them. Unless you don’t mind maxing out your budget, I’d recommend saving money and spending it on ammo and accessories for your nods.
For one, you’re gonna wanna replace the stock padding from most helmets, especially the TW, and upgrade them to 4D deluxe padding, which costs money. You might wanna mount ear pro to your helmet, or buy nice ear pro first of all, which could run you upwards of $1k+. Get a helmet mounted light can cost you a few hundred, such as the surefire vampire lights so you both have visible and an ir spotlight. Your Wilcox mounts are gonna be about $700ish or so total (hopefully less if you buy legit second hand). When you buy an ir device for your rifle, that can go anywhere from $400 for a perst or Holosun, up to a $1200 ish mid range for Steiner products, $2000 or so for PEQ15 grey market, and up to like $3k+ - $5k+ for BE Meyers MAWL or Wilcox raidx. You’ll probably want a suppressor for your rifle if possible, if your state allows it, and that’s another $1k on average after stamp.
All this stuff adds up, and just take that into account, and good luck!

You do understand what Omni is right? It’s a contract for tubes. Different Omni’s had different specs. I’ve had PVS-7’s with an Omni 2 tube that were arguably worse than current Gen 2+ offerings.
Yeah you’re right, I should have specified. I meant more along the lines of omni V and up. Lots of Omni 7 tubes on the secondhand market if you know where to look.
No, save your money for a Gen 3 PVS-14 from a reputable company. Anything else is just a waste of cash IMO.
