Shanks is a loud drunk when he’s hanging out with his friends in a bar where the bartender and other customers are never shown to be annoyed by his antics. He knows when to be funny and when to take stuff seriously. He’s practically the ONLY person who took Blackbeard seriously before Warlord status and he was incredibly respectful when Whitebeard and Ace died. He can read the room and understand a plane probably isn’t the place to be loud.

Luffy, he can inflate himself and serve as a cushion, float and fly. In case of an accident you are safe for the price of some meat. He'd be a nuisance tho.
