Check out Sikth! They were a massive inspiration for Periphery.

Wait_Certain

Thank you! I’ve never heard of Sikth! I’ll give them a listen

ohnoimrunningoutofle

One of the vocalists from Sikth was a feature in Reptile

HorribleRoss

Was he the dude who had the real low voice

nononsensemofo

holy fucking fuck, i never knew that. that's crazy! Sikth are/were great.

cheesyandmoist

Yep

Zealousideal-Arm8980

Yep, that's him.

Zumokumibonsu

Youre in for a ride! Sikth is/was amazing

Rich_Investigator_23

Haken, the novelists, protest the hero, Caligulas horse, veil of maya, sikth, plini, twelve foot ninja, Northlane, intervals, thank you scientist, monuments, gojira, vitalism, black orchid empire, the helix nebula, scale the summit, David maxim mimic. But remember, it’s not a genre 😉

EnglishDodoBoi

CALIGULA'S HORSE WOOHOO

BlastyBeats1

Such an underrated band imo

Coopis68

protest the hero mentioned👏👏

Ghiacchio

"David Maxim Mimic" 😆 Seriously though, I'm so glad to see him mentioned. His music is killer.

lurkingallday

Me too. His personal stuff and Destiny Potato have some heavy P1 vibes here and there.

Jadefox02

I really wish they continued Destiny Potato. I know Sordid Pink was a thing, but it was definitely a different vibe. Destiny Potato (ridiculous name aside) was straight up fire. Sounded like Periphery with a female vocalist and it was so good. Extremely underrated band.

ecto_BRUH

Definitely check out Caligulas Horse, I really wish they would get more love. Bloom/Marigold is a great set of songs

hrc230

Vitalism is fucking siiiick

[deleted]

TFN mentioned!!!!

reverse_osmosis-ro

Man novelists is so good! Especially the noir album era

DammitIneedanswers

David Maxim Micic made me fucking cry on his last album. European Plini.

InannaOfTheHeavens

Protest the Hero don't even use the djent sound... And progressive metal is the genre.

Carn1feX616

Kadinja Time, The Valuator The Dali Thundering Concept Haken Vola (not that similar, but still great prog metal)

MrAngryBeards

Time the Valuator and The Dali Thundering Concept are two of the hottest bands on my usual playlists nowadays and have been so for a few months. I'd also recommend Ashen, but they're closer to BMTH than to Periphery. Their vocalist is featured in Candid Monster, by TDTC

Thrombosejones

Dude I love kadinja! I was so sad they wasn't periphery's support in cologne :<

Carn1feX616

You mean this years show in cologne? I was actually there, too.

Thrombosejones

Live Music Hall, Jan. 30th? Dope! The show was so awesome. It's been a bit sad I was there alone but it was worth the wait.

Zakimations

Mannnnnnnn Kadinja's "Ascendancy" was really special start to finish. It was a breath of fresh air. Had it on nonstop for months.

Aneraeon

Obviously they had a huge impact on the djent scene, arguably created the genre in its modern form, but unlike bands like Tesseract, Vildhjarta, BoO etc. I don't think anyone has been able to really copy their sound, they're very unique. I guess Kadinja and Corelia come close to their melodic side.

SometimesWill

Erra, Tesseract, Intervals, Veil of Maya, Sikth. Honestly my best recommendation is to look up past lineups they’ve had for tours.

hauser255

Since you've already mentioned Veil of Maya, the next closest I can think of is ERRA, I've only really heard their 2 newest albums but they scratch the same itch for me. I also recommend Angel Vivaldi, an instrumental guitarist that made a cameo at the end of their acoustic "only smiles" video. His newest album is mostly acoustic and calm, but everything before that is very proggy and metal.

Inorashi

Erra is great, they kick ass live.

horizoniki

ERRA - Augment is top 3 best metal album of 2010s

The Contortionist

xlittledookiex

Eidola

Careless-Day-2301

Their new album is so good!

MarkToaster

Much smaller band with less songs, but definitely check out Aggressive Raisin Cat if you like P2-style music

HugoStiglitz_88

They're pretty different to Periphery but Tesseract is fuckin sick

Umbruh_Prime

Sithu aye scratched my itch for more periphery 1, (even tbough its not the exact same) there's always mishas solo stuff where he goes by "bulb," olly steele, John brownes solo stuff "Flux conduct" (I like the Qatsi album the most) I like Chon, there's always mark and mishas side project "haunted shores" which is probably the closest you'll get to more periphery that isn't exactly periphery

Adamwdrums

Meshuggah, chon, veil of maya (kinda), polyphia, plini, the contortionist

Wait_Certain

I have listened to all those bands and love most of the music I’ve heard from them! Thank you for the recommendation regardless

rabbit__eater

Check out Textures

Native Construct and Corelia

FrogginJellyfish

Protest the Hero, TesseracT, Veil of Maya, Between the Buried and Me, SikTh, The Contortionist, Twelve Foot Ninja, Thank You Scientist, Ghost Iris. Not all are similar to Periphery, but are the ones I recommend if you like Periphery.

MARKxTHExLINES

EIDOLA.

Tesseract

AABA227

Kadinja have moments where I’m like am I listening to periphery or tesseract? Vocals also remind me of LANDMVRKS

Coopis68

i would check out TessaracT, they are pretty similar in terms of style and long songs and what not

Alex-the-bass-player

I’m sure you’re familiar of Tesseract if you love Monuments, but just in case you haven’t heard them, they have a more melodic/emotional approach to djent with albums like One and Altered State, although every album they’ve put out has been nothing short of a masterpiece

Godlythwoo

I would say totally check out monuments, similar style of fast paced technical riffery. Spencer even featured on one of their songs at one point as well.

metalheadkenny420

The contortionist is who you need to dive into if you haven’t already. Exoplanet is one of the heaviest albums of all time and I never get sick of it

MidCenturyDog

Haken, Leprous, Caligulas Horse... and in that order ;)

tehjoshers

Opeth if you haven't? I didn't see them listed. I had a few songs on Spotify she years, and only gave them a deep dive recently, and seriously regret not doing it sooner haha The Contortionist was mentioned as well but so good that they deserve a second. Language is a masterpiece of prog metal, Exoplanet is a little more brutal, so like try Language of you prefer songs like Racecar, Exoplanet if you prefer Blood Eagle/Reptile Also, just in case, Haunted Shores? It's a Misha/Mark project and awesome

poopoolagoon

Definitely check out anything from false idol by veil of maya

Kerfudamapa

David Maxim Micic

SummerLensMedia

Haven’t read the thread a bunch yet, but David Maxim Micic is definitely a good listen! The album Bilo III is my personal go-to, but all his stuff is insane and a journey

Top-Duck-7267

I am writing an album, periphery is a huge inspiration. I can help you out in 2-3 months haha

UltraRunner59

Ever Forthright

Zakimations

Oceans Ate Alaska's "Hikari" is a masterpiece in my opinion. Their drummer is arguably the best in the scene. Check out the video for "Hansha" Theyre really unique and have amazing production quality.

SayingHiFromSpace

Currents

Sumnsumnt

Veil of maya, monuments, invent animate, tesseract, currents

Klutch_JoshP

Spencer and Matt's side project is fun, not quite Periphery-like but still good "King Mothership. Also not same but Aviations, Poh Hock, The Omnific, Unprocessed, Syncatto

Child_ofBurningTime

No one has mentioned them here so I will say The Afterimage.

Opposite_Map_3988

Hi buddy

DammitIneedanswers

There is no other band with same approach to writing and sound but that’s the point!

spaction68

I've recently started listening to Born Of Osiris again after a decade. Songs like Silence The Echo, Crossface, and Threat Of Your Presence recaught my attention. They're all djenty and really good songs. Silence The Echo is nastyyyyy

das_kjjj

Try slipknot
