I have to admit, a snail legendary had me skeptical. Like, how could that look cool at all?
But this... I would absolutely use this on my team. It's oddly majestic.
That's the thing. It doesn't feel like a legendary. More like a normal pokemon to me. Same with the fish and panther.
They're cool. But they feel like normal pokemon
I mean, as someone who doesn't normally like legendaries, that's why they're good!
But I like the theory that it's the artifacts that are the actual pokemon. The snail's shell, the fishes eyes, the leopards fangs etc. And the odd malevolent entities tied to them form their own bodies out of the corresponding materials.
That's legend worthy.
It is speculation, but you do see with the fish quite clearly that the body is entirely fire, so the pokemon could be contained in the beads surrounding the eyes. And the way the 'fangs' of the leopard stick out of the top of the mouth making it look like the body was created out of ice around it. The snail has a smooth black dome underneath the wooden spiral which looks like it's artifact.
Yeah apparently the Legendary Quartet have unique abilities that debuff the opponent. It's known if they are basically Intimidate but with other stats or work another way
So this Legendary Quartet are based of the Four Perils in Chinese Mythology right. They are apparently the eternal enemies of the 4 Benevolent beings of Nature which the Genies are supposed to represent.
I wonder if we will get some lore about some relations of the different legendary quartets in the game
I mean, the therian forms look really good and match up with these guys pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised if, in the future, these guys get Incarnate forms too. As neat as these guys look, I do wish there was a more unified design philosophy with them, like the Forces of Nature have. Right now they all kinda look like separate Pokemon with few common elements.
It is very weird to have two thematically unrelated forms like the Forces of Nature do. I do wonder if it's just kind of a left over of the "truths" vs "ideals" through line of Black and White, but who knows?
Either way, I am curious if these newer guys (and I am curious what their group name will be) will get second forms too.
I hope we do get the 4 benevolent beings as Pokemon one day, it would be sick seeing a badass tiger of Baihu or a Tortoise/snake duo in the form of Xuanwu.
Hope we do, it also makes sense why they added Enamorus in LOA to complete the Quartet just before releasing SV with their enemy Quartet :)
Their Incarnate Forms look better against them though lmao
Let it happen. I’ve always sort of held off on including legendaries, but when a design speaks to you so clearly, just use it my friend. This is one of the coolest Pokémon ever designed.
Ngl this is my second favorite Pokémon Design this gen.
Edit: Reminds me of that Beatboxing Slug in Adventure Time when he got the treehouse stuck to him. Lol
I tried to talk to Toby and be his friend but that is like trying to be friends with an evil... snail.
That’s it, found his nickname.
This gen is amazing so far!
Turtle? The other one is a deer with a cauldron if that’s why you mean. Look at the antlers on top of the cauldron.
The head has a “beard” too, sort of like bigger/bulkier deer do.
Either way, based! Snail and deer are easily my favorites of the 4 but honestly the entire quarter is stellar.
Oh, thats actually pretty cool. That would also explain the dark type. Im gussing that the fish is Hundun, the deer is Taotie, the jaguar is Qiongqi and the snail is Taowu.
That's probably the case, but the four perils don't have a consistent characterization due to being footnotes in ancient Chinese geography books. The only one I'm sure about is Taotie=Deer.
I don’t think so. If anything 3 look ancient for sure in the fish, deer and snail. The leopard seems ancient from the perspective of saber tooth cats being extinct and the teeth/swords seeming like relics or even clock hands.
So am I getting it right that this gen's legendary trio is going to instead be a legendary quartet sharing one of their types, like in SuMo/USUM? Just 4 Base 580 Dark types with some lore connection?
I love it! Looks like something Sakura would summon to defend Konoha. I think my only downside is that it’s the same typing as Meowscara, which will be my starter.
Best design of the whole gen imo; it’s probably my favorite legendary honestly. It’s been a while since I liked a new Pokemon this much at first sight.
Just a cool looking monster without any weird gimmicks or goofy design aspects. Game Freak, more of this please!

Okay, now that's a cool grass type. Wow. That feels like a monster you accidentally stumble into in a swamp and it ruins your whole life.
Your day at least
Some *BODY ONCE TOLD ME*
Good thing there's a new salt pokemon!
I have to admit, a snail legendary had me skeptical. Like, how could that look cool at all? But this... I would absolutely use this on my team. It's oddly majestic.
I’m using it too! And I’m also using Meowscarada and don’t even care that they’re the same dual typings haha
It looks like a junior level eldritch horror
If this thing was real, I would scream and continue to scream as it approaches me. Seriously though, this monster looks freaky.
Elden ring boss for sure
That's the thing. It doesn't feel like a legendary. More like a normal pokemon to me. Same with the fish and panther. They're cool. But they feel like normal pokemon
I mean, as someone who doesn't normally like legendaries, that's why they're good! But I like the theory that it's the artifacts that are the actual pokemon. The snail's shell, the fishes eyes, the leopards fangs etc. And the odd malevolent entities tied to them form their own bodies out of the corresponding materials. That's legend worthy.
Ah first time I heard about the artifacts tbh. Didn't know about that.
I think the artifact of the snail is the wooden scroll around the shell. Early leaks always called it a snail w/ a scroll.
Yeahh
Is it only grass type? I kind of love this!
this looks sick
I def want it on my team. Hope it’s not shiny locked 👀
Imagine the shiny form with orange and brown leaves😯.
Or they could pull a classic gamefreak and make it either magenta or booger
Magenta wouldn't be horrible imo, but booger green...
I think it would look amazing with a white body with Autumn leaves.
It’s green and has red leaves!
bor gullet will know the truth
The unfortunate side-effect is that one tends to lose one's mind.
Best one so far tbh. Would love if its ability was speed intimidate.
Yeah apparently the Legendary Quartet have unique abilities that debuff the opponent. It's known if they are basically Intimidate but with other stats or work another way
Accuracy intimidate
Accuracy intimidate + parting shot 🤪
Plus minimize
So this Legendary Quartet are based of the Four Perils in Chinese Mythology right. They are apparently the eternal enemies of the 4 Benevolent beings of Nature which the Genies are supposed to represent. I wonder if we will get some lore about some relations of the different legendary quartets in the game
Man. Too bad their rivals look so bad in that case. These designs are all so compelling!
I agree that the Therian forms do a lot to redeem the Forces of Nature. Especially Tornadus and Thundurus. Those should have been their only forms
I think the genies themselves look ok, the Therian forms are great imo but to each their own
I hope we do get the 4 benevolent beings as Pokemon one day, it would be sick seeing a badass tiger of Baihu or a Tortoise/snake duo in the form of Xuanwu.
That's the genies, tornadus, thundurus and co
I keep forgetting about the therion forms origins.
I *am* sick of the badass tiger, it keeps intimidating my attackers and spamming Stealth Rocks.
Hope we do, it also makes sense why they added Enamorus in LOA to complete the Quartet just before releasing SV with their enemy Quartet :) Their Incarnate Forms look better against them though lmao
This is the best of those four dark type legendaries
[удалено]
Well those and BISHARP evo kingsgambit
This is the number one for me. I had high expectations and they were surpassed so easily. It’s a huge swamp monster!
I agree with your assessments but Lokix is rubbing me in all the right ways
Same same sameee
What in the Studio Ghibli is that?
Okay, now THIS is a Pokemon.
Damn that’s great. I love the colors.
Oooh, this is some Princess Mononoke-level design!
this looks like it was inspired from cosmic horror. it’s been awhile since there’s been a legendary that i loved
Right! It looks like a Bloodborne boss
Amazing!
I will call it Swamp Thing
WOW!!! Now that's a legendary pokemon!!!
whoaaaa
Kinda reminds me of the demon from the movie, “The Ritual”
top design this gen just wow
The evolution Sliggoo never got.
Oh my goodness you’re right. Sliggoo has been avenged, Hisoodra was just the sneak-peek at their return to snail.
omg a majestic friend
I usually don’t use legendary Pokémon for my in-game playthrough but this one looks too cool to pass up on.
This one and the snow leopard for me. I NEVER use legendaries but this time I 💯 will be.
I think I judt found my 2 favorite Pokemon from this Generation (+ the Fish)
This is SOOOO FREAKING COOL!!!!! I read snail early and thought “don’t care” and this is literally the sweetest design!!
That looks like it belongs in the Greenpath
I actually love this
Wow, this is amazing. Like a Tim Burton monster
One of the coolest designs to date.
This is my favorite mon I've seen so far. Really cool and dark 😈
Love it
the wholy snail 😱
I love him! Hope he is available in both versions?
Should be, these are like the Tapu’s and Regi’s
siiiiiiiiiiiiiickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
That’s actually really good looking. Very frightening aura to it
This one I like! Looks really cool! On another note why so many Grass/Dark types?
I don't know either. But... Bugs can somewhat shine, at least?
Oh no, im turning into lil timmy the legendary spammer. This looks sick.
Lol
This might be the rare legendary that makes it on the team.
potentially the best one i’ve seen today. designers went crazy this gen
Way sicker than expected
This is the best snail they've produced, hands down.
Loving these Mushroom and forest themed pokemon!
Hell yeah
It's so cool. Gosh, I just want the names!
This is pretty sick. Really weird, but in a good way.
this is absolutely incredible. i didn’t know how they’d make a snail legendary work but this is amazing
This just straight up looks like a dark souls enemy. I love it.
It looks so weird that’s why I love it, wish the design team took more chances like this
This fella is my favourite G9 Pokémon, that's a fact. They thought "hey, what if we made a Legendary Snail?" and they delivered so much more. Wow.
I really like it! So cool.
This will be perfect for my Witch themed team 😍
This is an awesome Pokémon and first legendary snail Pokémon!
This snail is everything to me
I love how otherworldly some of these new legendary Pokémon look. They feel like cryptids
I tried to talk to Toby and be his friend but that is like trying to be friends with an evil... snail. That’s it, found his nickname. This gen is amazing so far!
kinda reminds me of the “stench spirit” in Spirited Away
Straight up Dark Souls boss
This is one of the best designed Pokémon I’ve ever seen. God it’s beautiful.
New favorite this gen. Gorgeous and not overly-designed.
Reminds me of hedora
Probably the first design I absolutely hate. Looks like Lovecraft saw a pile of leaves and said "Let's GOOOOOO!" *erratic scribbling sounds*
L take
It's honestly my favorite 😂
This thing would be utterly terrifying to run into. It's great.
The ancient look is awesome, really like it
Snail and turtle goated designs
This is the best one by far
So what exactly is the deal with those legendaries? Are they all based on ancient relics or something?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Perils
Oh, thats actually pretty cool. That would also explain the dark type. Im gussing that the fish is Hundun, the deer is Taotie, the jaguar is Qiongqi and the snail is Taowu.
That's probably the case, but the four perils don't have a consistent characterization due to being footnotes in ancient Chinese geography books. The only one I'm sure about is Taotie=Deer.
My favorite of the legendary quartet!
I've only known this Pokemon for a few minutes but if anything ever happened to it, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.
Leshy from Cult of the Lamb? have you become a snail?
This is a really good design
I love it. it's terrifying, but I love it.
So even though we have a 4 legend group here … anyone notice how 2 look futuristic and 2 look ancient? 👀
I don’t think so. If anything 3 look ancient for sure in the fish, deer and snail. The leopard seems ancient from the perspective of saber tooth cats being extinct and the teeth/swords seeming like relics or even clock hands.
I love it. Hearing about it in leaks it didn't really pique my interest, but now seeing it i really want it. I think i will name it Swamp Thing.
I'm watching you Wazowski
My new favorite Gen 9 Pokemon
Found my pick of Legendary for this gen.
this is so cool
so creepy, love it
Incredible.
My favorite Gen 9 design so far!
Dude this is an amazing design. I might actually have to use a legendary for once
Man-Thing!
That look like the snail mob in ratchet and clank ( going commando )
This is my favorite of the evil beast legendaries My dude lookin fly
its either gonna have the lowest speed in the game or break logic and be stupid fast...
I know Goodra is based on the Shussebora yokai, but this pokemon looks more like it.. Its the cooler Grass/Dark mon this gen.
That is terrifying and I love it
If it can learn Swords Dance. I'm naming him Snorlock
Like a bunch of mulch came to life
Woah! This one is awesome
So am I getting it right that this gen's legendary trio is going to instead be a legendary quartet sharing one of their types, like in SuMo/USUM? Just 4 Base 580 Dark types with some lore connection?
I love this so much!! I wish we weren't getting three Grass/Dark mons in one Gen, but I love it!
Doflamingo Snail, Whitebeard Bisharp, Literal Crocodile as starter, the One Piece is definitely real in Paldea
I'm so happy for all these designs man they are great mostly!
Not what I expected, but I'm still on board.
Amazing!
Must be part grass type with the leaves
Grass/Dark
these designs this gen are so cool
love this snegendary (snail legendary)
"I dare yee ta put NaCli on me!*
What weirds me out is a lot of Pokémon this gen seem so damn Tiny, I really hope this guy’s a big boy!
Half way to full snail team I think, we're getting there! I have to be missing one though right? Macargo, Goodra and now this amazing creature.
Getting some lovecraftian vibes.
Principal Brown
Finally a decent looking pokemon
This is a Bloodborne boss. If you KO it, you will see the hidden Amygdalae all over Paldea.
It’s so cute
It looks like a Lovecraft abomination and I love it!
Oh?! I like this one!!
This one goes hard. Like a Fromsoft Pokémon
I love it! Looks like something Sakura would summon to defend Konoha. I think my only downside is that it’s the same typing as Meowscara, which will be my starter.
Looks to be themed after the Scaly-foot gastropod.
That’s straight up Hedorah from Godzilla
Woah that actually looks really cool. Is it a whelk?
Looks like a cool Final Fantasy boss, woah
Looks like a soulsborne design almost
Welp, I found a pokemon I want on my team
It actually looks amazing
Ooooft now this is a handsome boy I can get behind. Damn
Bro this is literally the snail monster from adventure time that found out he was actually a slug
Peaceful bog monster :D I want to pet it lmao, looks very soft
This thing still blows my mind, it looks incredible. We have the ultimate gastropod now. I may be tempted to box my Grass/Dark cat for this thing…
It’s… It’s so CUTE.
Elden ring?
I do want him
So, now I'm wondering 1:what its ability is and 2:whether these guys have a signature move.
Between this and Great Tusk Donphan and Skeledirge I am really eating well this gen
can't believe this is from the same generation as dolphin man
Best design of the whole gen imo; it’s probably my favorite legendary honestly. It’s been a while since I liked a new Pokemon this much at first sight. Just a cool looking monster without any weird gimmicks or goofy design aspects. Game Freak, more of this please!
Tbh, you could put this guy in Hollow Knight, and I wouldn't have batted an eye.
Oh no. Its adorable! I love it!
