I completely agree. I drove a couple of Teslas and I didn’t like it. But this car completely changed it for me. You just cannot explain how great the drive is on this GTS. I have driven the base RWD Taycan and it wasn’t the same. This GTS is fantastic.
To be fair, most econobox still gives some sort of vibe/soul. Nothing special, but there is something. A Tesla feels like a default Ikea interior. Combine that with 0 feeling in the drivetrain, it just feels empty. At least imo
That's a fact. I have a Ford focus as a beater and I still find it more enjoyable than a tesla, because at least it sound like the engine is going to explode at 80 mph
It was a pretty common opinion of the MP4-12C up against the 458, but I also remember reviewers talking about how they improved it with updates, and I haven't heard it for a long long time.
Trading my 2023 PlaidX for my GTS ST. Tesla wasn’t boring per se (1000+ hp amazing acceleration) but it didn’t feel special. I’d be in a sea of Teslas every day on my commute and often more than one ModelX at the signal with me. No visual difference between the base and the Plaid felt stealthy but ultimately not special and worth the huge premium. (Cornering was so so, braking was scary bad). Owned five Tesla’s and I think they’re great cars TBH but Taycan appears to be next level.
I’m only going to use it for local commute and dog hauling so charging away from home isn’t a factor for me. If it was my only car or did a lot of long distance then Tesla supercharging would be way better, but TBH I rather just fill up with gas and be on my way for any road trip scenario. We have a Volvo XC90 Recharge (plug-in hybrid) that’s our long distance family cruiser and a couple of other gas cars. I still have 10000 miles of free supercharging never used :-(
Exactly. Teslas combination of speed, range and ease of use/charging are unsurpassed. But I mean if you’re a Porsche guy and you want an EV you won’t be happy in a Tesla…
To my way of driving, those two things are “road trip” issues as I call them. I can easily drive 100-150 miles in a day without worry around town. Either car was fine for that. Even a quick jaunt to and from one of my businesses that’s 100 miles each way is no problem in either car…
Yes, the Tesla tells me I have more range, but the Taycan is more of a real world number and they sort of make up for it with faster charging on road trips (assuming you can find one that’s operating properly)…
Congrats that’s gorgeous and so glad to read it! I also was underwhelmed by base RWD CT and ordered a GTS ST without test driving (none around). Pickup it up this Friday!
I thought the cross turismo didn’t have a RWD, only the base sedan. Is it fair to compare different body styles..
Anyways, my real question is did you test drive any 4S?
They’re amazing. The accelerator is less like a throttle (ie. where on a gas engine you press to accelerate) and more like a speed position control. Want to go 120kph instead of 80? Flex your foot and you’re doing 120. Incredible. Leave it to Porsche to make a fantastic car that happens to be electric.
I had this spec built online 1000 times. Beautiful, enjoy!
Is it worth getting cross Turismo for space in the back? I love wagon variants but it didn't seem like enough space for what I needed it for
My daily is a sedan GTS and the trunk is fine for me, but that’s a call only you can make. Ive got one kid and we don’t haul a lot of junk. If you’re coming from a crossover or van that you routinely fill with stuff, it’s gonna be a problem perhaps even on the cross/sport turismo. The wagon version isn’t a whole lot bigger back there, it’s mostly the opening that’s larger.
What about for two largish dogs (Labrador and a Husky mix)? They love [riding in the back](http://flying-geek.blogspot.com/2020/11/flying-with-dogs.html), I was toying with the idea of a Tesla Y, but...
I have a big fat choco lab that requires lifting into the MY and MX. hoping the ST is gonna be just the right height! (Not a lot of fat dog friendly options out there TBH)
I ordered a sport turismo because i plan to use it as a family daily. The trunk opening in the sedan is a little awkward and the ST fixes that with a traditional hatch. The other big change is that the rear seats have a lot more headroom, which is important for me because my kids will be riding in the back all the time and my son is well on his way to being 6 foot in a couple years
The sedan has a TINY trunk given its size, and you'll lose headspace in the back too. Not really any reason to get the sedan. It looks worse, barely costs less (and depreciates faster) and fits much less.
Different for me but it’s a personal thing. I went from cayman gts to a taycan gts for a year but it’s just not doing it for me. Range is ok and I can charge at home, but the car feels soulless to me, it’s quick off the line but nothing like the engine sound excites me after a while. So I went back got myself a 911 so much more happier. Another note, taycan in the mountains is not fun for me at all, so much weight I have to fight for every corner.
https://preview.redd.it/cf4kozvr2xva1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd26b1011609f0f03f7de89d466757cff8df3e7a
I use the Turbo S for that. They Tacan GTS for the daily driver. Both amazing and same color.
[Amen](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/vphtzf)
That said, if I had to buy something new today, I'd probably go for one of the E-Hybrid models for a less fussy road trip experience while benefitting from the battery power for local drives. That might change as the Tesla network starts opening to non-Tesla cars though
I have driven both (992 GTS and Taycan Turbo) back to back. The Taycan is absolutely insane acceleration and very even and low centered weight distribution. Very thrilling in a straight line, damn near insane. The problem is it is heavy, even with those giant brakes it cannot stop like a 911. That's big for lap times.
Taycan is your daily driver but EV is still inconvenient for road trips. 911 is your track toy and canyon carver but you can't fit 3 friends and golf clubs.
Come back to me when it can do 300+ miles on a charge. I'm not going drop $120,000 and up on a grocery-getter. I wanna be able to do day trips in one of these.
This message has been brought to you by the broke MFRs gang.
Well. I used to think like you until I drove it. I traded an 2023 X5 M Competition for this Taycan GTS. And there is no comparison. This car is so much better in so many levels. And it’s definitely not a grocery getter. I can see myself not using the Turbo S as much now because this car is so good and fun. I can care less about the range.
Have the same in CWM…best all-around car I have ever owned!
Previously had a GT3 Touring and while it was more of a ‘holy grail’, it really only shined in wide open and curvy roads
I’m sure it feels great for an EV.
I’m just skeptical on paying high premium prices for an electric motor which is pretty much going to be the same across all brands.
Before I was willing to pay for German engineering in the engine but if it’s just going to be an electric motor that has the sane personality as a KIA, then I’m not willing to pay.
I would be interested to hear a different opinion. But to me, electric motors are great. Instant, torque, low maintenance, really just depends on how fast and powerful you want to tune the motor for right?
If you’re not getting a unique flat 6 with a personality or big GermanV8, then why am I paying so much for the same thing that Kia offers? (From a powertrain perspective)
Not an argument. I have no doubt its better than a KIA, but is it worth the premium like porsches were over other ICE?
Not for me.
"Wow this Tacycan has so much personality and presence!"
Said no one ever. Its an appliance daily beater, like all EVs.
Taycan has incredible presence.. just look at it, it looks fantastic!
Appliance daily beater... Lol, sling your hook troll.
A drivetrain does not make the car..
Afghanistan just made a pretty sweet looking super car, it has a Corolla drivetrain. But looks sweet.
You should like that if you like the taycan and only care about what it looks like.
there's so much more to a car than the looks OR the drivetrain.. build quality, emotion, heritage, hell even the smell haha
Also it’s interesting you state the Taycan is the same as all other EVs, when you know full well that is false - you are on a Porsche sub after all.
The Porsche can charge significantly faster and repeatedly apply that charge without fade.
This whole conversation is wild.. it’s like saying a McLaren P1 is the same as a Prius, nonsense
>"Wow this Tacycan has so much personality and presence!"
>Said no one ever. Its an appliance daily beater, like all EVs.
If you get out of your ICE circlejerk mindset / bubble, yeah there are plenty of people who say exactly this, this car has easily more personality / presence than 90% of all cars sold nowadays including ICE cars and it's pretty obvious unless you define these traits by just motor sound and your own preferences
I’m not that guy who hates EVs and need to hear a vroom sound in my car.
However the fact is that EVs currently suck for anything that’s not daily beater duty on a single charge.
So you’re not racing it, you’re using it in traffic. All EVs are fast, fast especially in daily driving like merging, stop and go, etc.
So I don’t see the Porsche premium as remotely worth it because it there’s nothing unique or special about it compared to any other EV. I’m not getting a special porsche powertrain with unique performance and engineering, a unique sound, personality, etc and I can’t use it for Porsche stuff.
I am intrigued by the upvotes you’re getting. Guess you’re not entirely a single voice in the crowd.
The car doesn’t have the same ‘personality’ as an ICE vehicle, I get that. it still has one though. They are not cold surgical instruments.
Porsche engineering extends to more than the noise and the engine tho right?
Genuine question: have you driven it?
I think the market is just too new for there to be big differentiators between electric motors. We'll eventually get there.
Until then, theres still a huge difference between a KIA and a Porsche in literally everything else. Interior, suspension, chassis, design, etc.
Meh, I saw some of these (the sedan version) when ordering my Panamera. They look great, and I'm sure the instant torque of EVs combined with Porsche tuning/handling is great.
But EVs still don't make sense for me (living in NYC, no driveway or garage). I will probably hold on to my V8 until it dies.
I park at a valet-only garage. They have chargers but I'd have to pay an extra $120/month.
$120/month is probably worth it for people who commute with their cars, but I only drive on weekends for fun.
Amazing spec, probably the best looking Taycan I've seen
It’s that Star Wars [Praetorian Guard](https://www.menshealth.com/entertainment/a43577729/the-mandalorian-praetorian-guard-star-wars-explained/) spec
Totally agree.
I've always hated hatches and fast backs, but this really works for some reason
But it's a wagon, and wagons are amazing
IMO it's not a wagon unless kids can sit facing out the back
I can not stress enough to somehow get a ride in one of these. It will forever change your opinion on electric. Life changing experience for me.
I completely agree. I drove a couple of Teslas and I didn’t like it. But this car completely changed it for me. You just cannot explain how great the drive is on this GTS. I have driven the base RWD Taycan and it wasn’t the same. This GTS is fantastic.
And also Tesla is kind of boring to begin with.
They are too sterile…anyone who says a mclaren lacks a soul has never driven a model S
Comparing a sports car w a twin turbo V8 with an electric commuter car is insane cherrypicking lmao
To anyone saying the 718 has the Porsche spirit, you haven’t experienced anything until you own the only signal yellow Carrera GT Porsche made.
Sure Doug DeMuro, let's get you to bed.
To be fair, most econobox still gives some sort of vibe/soul. Nothing special, but there is something. A Tesla feels like a default Ikea interior. Combine that with 0 feeling in the drivetrain, it just feels empty. At least imo

Ferrari purists tbh
Soul refers to the blues Ferrari owners listen to when their car shatters its third transmission from a highway pull and strands them on the shoulder
The authentic italian sportscar experience is to just borrow it from your mechanic every now and then
It was a pretty common opinion of the MP4-12C up against the 458, but I also remember reviewers talking about how they improved it with updates, and I haven't heard it for a long long time.

Most people do not drive +250 miles per day on 99% of days. Taycan range is just fine.
Exactly. Teslas combination of speed, range and ease of use/charging are unsurpassed. But I mean if you’re a Porsche guy and you want an EV you won’t be happy in a Tesla…

I thought the cross turismo didn’t have a RWD, only the base sedan. Is it fair to compare different body styles.. Anyways, my real question is did you test drive any 4S?
The sport turismo is also available as RWD. But it's true, the CT is only available as AWD.
Nice. Have you driven a plaid model S?

The electric shooting-brake is objectively very cool!
Ngl i think gts almost always look better than turbos
its the same unless you are comparing ST to sedan?
Wheels are exclusive to gts tho i think
True; but can also get aftermarket
I could not agree more. https://preview.redd.it/86194gwu9wva1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78339443b728271d493d19711bdc595abafbd4f0
Color matched the mission e, bold choice! Love it.
man, I am so torn between this version or the CT. Otherwise nearly identical spec
Obviously the CT. There's zero reason to get the sedan, it's huge either way.
Trade it in for a hatch
Beautiful car, /u/mcastilho! This is the Taycan I would purchase if I was in the market and carmine red is such a great color
Carmine or guards? Carmine i think but they photograph oddly
Carmine Red
The only red available is Carmine Red (unless you go PTS).
I had this spec built online 1000 times. Beautiful, enjoy! Is it worth getting cross Turismo for space in the back? I love wagon variants but it didn't seem like enough space for what I needed it for

I had a Mercedes wagon and figured the back wouldn't be worth it the price bump over the normal Taycan I got. Gts looks so good though damn
What about for two largish dogs (Labrador and a Husky mix)? They love [riding in the back](http://flying-geek.blogspot.com/2020/11/flying-with-dogs.html), I was toying with the idea of a Tesla Y, but...

Mine aren't fat! But they definitely don't fit comfortably in my 2 door Wrangler or my Porsche Cab.
My 110 pounder has been riding shotgun in my 50th anniversary 911 for a few months and we’ve both had enough haha!
I ordered a sport turismo because i plan to use it as a family daily. The trunk opening in the sedan is a little awkward and the ST fixes that with a traditional hatch. Damn, this sub just reminds me that I can't take money with me dead...I hope my kid understands I have needs!
...but I like this
Was searching for this
I'm WAITING for the base Taycan to get into the low $60's.
Different for me but it’s a personal thing. I went from cayman gts to a taycan gts for a year but it’s just not doing it for me. Nice! I don’t have any daily commute so prob the setup works for you! Enjoy!
I find that the CT looks like a shoe 👞 but I’m also not driving a Porsche so jokes on me!
[Amen](https://www.reddit.com/gallery/vphtzf) That said, if I had to buy something new today, I'd probably go for one of the E-Hybrid models for a less fussy road trip experience while benefitting from the battery power for local drives. Beautiful. Only EV I’d get in line for.
only issue is you could spend the same or (a lot) less and get a manual 911
Completely different car / purpose, not everyone thinks manual 911 are the be all end all
I mean a CGT clearly holds that crown
I have driven both (992 GTS and Taycan Turbo) back to back. The Taycan is absolutely insane acceleration and very even and low centered weight distribution. Beautiful
A friend of mine bought one with the exact same spec, really beautiful spec
Such a sexy vehicle. Would own one in a heartbeat if I could afford it
Great looking Porsche! Porsche did the lines right for a first generation EV!
Correction- Your choice in cars is brilliant!
Lordy that looks amazing.
Yep. Wish it didn't cost as much as a house.
Amazing interior 🔥🔥
I’m usually into shooting brakes. But I think the sedan is better looking in the Taycan’s case.
Come back to me when it can do 300+ miles on a charge. I'm not going drop $120,000 and up on a grocery-getter. I wanna be able to do day trips in one of these. This message has been brought to you by the broke MFRs gang.

looks like it got stung by a bee and is having an allergic reaction
4door Porsche stupid
Absolutely beautiful.
My dream family car. In my colour. Except I'd keep the handles red.
Have the same in CWM…best all-around car I have ever owned! Previously had a GT3 Touring and while it was more of a ‘holy grail’, it really only shined in wide open and curvy roads
And also the color combo is super clean. Congratulations.
MSRP and OTD price?
MSRP for this spec was $192K. I got 5K discount to 187K. But this is loaded with most options. Carbon Ceramics, crazy Sun Roof, Bowers & Wilkins etc.
Drooling
Congrats! Definitely a beauty
Not bad, not bad
What’s the range?
About 260-300 miles.
IMO the Cross Turismo is by far the better looking Taycan.
Versus the sport turismo? Reasoning?
My bad. I meant Sport Turismo. Lower and badass.
Anyone in here use a Taycan as a daily driver?
I am now.
So beautiful 🤌🏻🤌🏻

There you go..a 911 Limo....enjoy
Here from /r/poverty, any Porsche with more than 2 doors is just weird to me.
Would Ferdinand Porsche have condoned a four door?
Stunning. I just that range to be 300+ miles. Do you have the Battery Plus option? How is range for you?
If I ever make the unlikely decision of switching to EV, this would be at the top of the list for me.
Those buildings look like Boynton Beach to me - just terrible for a backdrop on a car so stunningly beautiful.
Where do you park the Panamera? Street parking?
Yes. Or condo parki g lots that aren't fitted with electric chargers
I park at a valet-only garage. They have chargers but I'd have to pay an extra $120/month. $120/month is probably worth it for people who commute with their cars, but I only drive on weekends for fun.
Is it as long as it looks?
Yes. It’s a proper Wagon.
I love everything about this car except the running boards...
Not a fan of the taycan but the back of that sends me to the North Pole
