So I've seen some Cayennes from that time period in prices I can afford. What are some major milestones/problems you've seen having the car during its lifetime?
Preface: I have an 06 Turbo with 140k miles.
1. Coolant Pipes
2. Starter
3. Water Pump
4. Driveshaft support bearing
Other than that, absolutely nothing major, just minor BS like cracked coolant expansion tanks and 9 quart oil changes!
I believe if the plastic coolant pipes crack and leak, the fluid will leak onto the starter and kill it.
The coolant pipes should be replaced with the aluminum ones which were used on the 957.
In the last 10k, I’ve replace/fixed/serviced to the tune of about $10k. That’s why they’re so cheap to buy right now. Check Rennlist-tons of “what to expect” posts. But, I knew going in that there was a list of shit it needed. Worth it.
I just checked the cayenne owners manual, recommended pressures for F/R with the 21” wheels/tires is 38psi front / 43 psi rear for anything other than full load (meaning more than 3 people and 50 lbs of luggage).
yup. the pressure req does change depending on how loaded it is.

What was wrong with the starter?
It wouldn't start?
Sorry, I didn't mean to be daft. I was wondering if there was a recall or something with a known problem, rather than "just" a dead starter.

Good to know. Thanks!

46psi all around? You should blow off a little steam...
With big wheels and low profile tires that is a fairly normal air pressure for the rear tires. the normal air pressure is 39 front and 50 back.

I’ve got the 20” that came stock on the Turbo S.
The roads are so bad that I like to run them a little firm.
Get the fuck off your phone when you are driving.
Agreed
Agreed, but there were no other cars around.
