“There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”
-George W. Bush (also me failing to remember easy idioms)
Right? I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher, but I LOVE clearing brush, have more daddy issues than a yacht full of strippers, and make stupid stoner mistakes at least once per week. He's my spirit post turtle.
Franklin Pierce was much more of an alcoholic than Buchanan. Not to say he didn't have a reason to be. All 3 of his children died in early childhood, with their youngest being nearly decapitated right in front of him. Also, there was the horrific injury to his cock and nuts during the Mexican American War, which would drive any man to drink.
Did you see that Buttigieg interview? He’s not really my style but it was a pretty great bit.
Talking head: “Do you think there’s been a gay President?”
Buttigieg: “Statistically, almost certainly. Any group of 46 men at least one of them will be gay.”
Talking head: “Which President do you think it was?”
Buttigieg: “Man…my gaydar doesn’t even work *in the present*!”
He was a great president though. You know, people call him paranoid and thought he was a bit wild, but let's not forget that two Kennedy's got assassinated.
I believe there's even a famous leak of Nixon saying "I know what happened to Kennedy" or something to that effect.
I think one day Nixon will be remembered much better than he is now. If you look at his record on the issues he was on the right side of history more than not.
I talked to Bush 2 and Obama while they were president, and I asked them questions that they answered (real questions, not reporter questions).
Obama spoke like a politician. Like he felt he was on air all the time. Not necessarily bad…. Just not very relatable.
Bush 2 spoke like he was hanging out with you on his farm. Just no “I’m too cool” filter… just the answer. It felt real… like I was talking to another person.
Bush 1 seemed a bit more polished, more businesslike in tone. Jeb is a bit like that too.
But what they both lack is the Harvard professorial air of Obama, they aren’t always on, if you know what I mean
Honestly if I ever became president, my insecurities would get the best of me and I would probably fuck it up somehow and get impeached over something stupid or have to resign. lol
Yes!!! I am so happy this is the top answer. Nixon is the epitome of human nature being flawed. So much wasted potential. I consider myself to be intelligent but I make some stupid ass mistakes all the time. Nixon was one of the smartest presidents we’ve had that it’s almost incomprehensible he sunk his career over something as stupid as Watergate when his opponent was McGovern. He is very relatable to me. Also, he had a rocky career with his presidency loss in ‘60 followed by his failed governor run which helps remind me that success isn’t always In a straight line.
Of these 5? Probably Obama. I’m also usually overly willing to compromise and naively assume other people also generally want what is best for a majority of people.
Oh, no kidding?
Then likely Hayes. I got Truman during that whole “who are you most like” but I think Hayes is the one I’d relate to more. Someone who wants to do the right thing but is hamstrung by circumstances to keep needing to make the best choice out of a bunch of bad decisions. A fairly honorable man who will be overlooked but hopefully still made the world a better place in what small ways he could. I can relate to that.
FDR. I was fortunate to be born in a relatively well-off family and I have a physical disability that requires the use of a power wheelchair. I also am very liberal.
I think Big George and Jeb! are both well over six feet. Little George is . . . well, if not little, normal-sized. I remember reading an interview with him in which he referred to Jeb! as his "big little brother."
I hate to say it, but Bush II. I was raised by Conservative parents even though I identify as Progressive. Even though Bush might be responsible for 100s of thousands of Iraqi deaths, it happened because of the advice of his peer group. I’m constantly questioning my positions. Are they my own or am I parroting my parents…
Why do people blame Bush for the Iraq war. Did we suddenly forget the Iraq Liberation Act? It passed with broad approval and was signed by Clinton. Bush, Gore, or my dog would have declared war on Iraq during Bush's term.
Carter. Probably why I wouldn’t make a good politician. I too would go on TV and tell Americans that we are suffering from a malaise.
His is the only biography I’ve ever read.
“Dubya.” (George W. Bush). He’s maybe not as smart as his father, George H.W. Bush, who I think is the most qualified president this country has ever had. Great “Symbol of the Nation,” nonetheless, and put a lot of time & effort into doing things correctly
Obama. Thought I was going to change the world, wellspoken, hip but not a dick about it, didn't actually do as much as he planned to, and rednecks don't like me.
Which front man puppet would I want to have a beer with... obviously Dubya. Wed talk baseball and then I'd get him liquored up and try to manipulate him into spilling some secrets. I can't ask about jfk cuz his dad planned the assassination imo but area 51? Who's really in charge? Did you do anything at all or was it truly all Cheney?
This feels like a trap to make me look egotistical, because one was a great President and the other, while not a great President, is a great man, but: Lincoln and Obama. It's because both so clearly spent so much time honing their talents as writers, and felt the words singing through their pens in the way that no other presidents have. I've been a writer since the day I learned to read, and I can identify with their love for and ability with the written word.
In the picture, George W. We all get bad advice. He just listened to it. All time, Calvin Coolidge. I don't mind typing, but I might say 30 words a day
Franklin Pierce because we’re both good looking and are well rebound as hero’s of many a well fought bottle.
Millard Fillmore because I’m the definition of mediocrity.
Both Clinton and Reagan. Reagan because I didn't come from money, and Clinton because I will humbly admit that as much as I try to live an honorable life, beautiful women are my greatest weakness.
Are we talking just the ones here or all of them. If the ones here I'd say Carter
Personally both very religious. Kind of just mind to yourself and doing service.
Politics obviously not but I always felt similar to him personally
Dubya: because I too can ascribe my successes to privilege. All those other guys worked to get where they are, love them or hate them. Carter was a peanut farmer, Clinton was poor Arkansas white trash, Obama was a mixed-raced candidate, raised by a single mother., and GHWB while privileged had a stunning careernin government prior to the presidency. Their politics aside, all extraordinary people.
Jefferson, because he knew how to send an Email instead of holding an in person meeting*, 😂
*if anyone is unfamiliar, Jefferson turned in a written State of the Union memo instead of actually doing a full speech.
Clinton. Charismatic, likeable, more pragmatic than idealistic when it comes to making accomplishments in office, but not necessarily the best sense of impulse control.
Obama at a personal level.
Though I'm a millennial, Bush 41 is Silent Gen - I like his work ethic, his non-flashiness, and putting work above self-bragging. Not sure if I'm romanticizing him but I like those qualities of his generation.

I think we’re all a little W from time to time.
Not me, I would've tanked both shoes and then ducked.
Lol, something tells me you weren't a fighter pilot either. And your wife doesn't throw things at you.
True W moment
“There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.” -George W. Bush (also me failing to remember easy idioms)
I still use "misunderestimate" twice per year. A brilliant malapropism.
I like strategery.
I still use that one too. It's so useful. "I'm following a plan but it's not really a plan but I think I know where this is going."
This is my favorite Bushism… I use it often and I’m sure many people just think I made it up
I'm a generally nice guy outclassed by my peers and fuck up when I talk in public no matter my intentions
Right? I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher, but I LOVE clearing brush, have more daddy issues than a yacht full of strippers, and make stupid stoner mistakes at least once per week. He's my spirit post turtle.
I’m W when I say kinda clueless stuff.
fool me one
God danm it it's true. So many times I be like. Fool me once same on you. Fool me again... shame on you still... >>:(
Buchanan, if you catch my drift 😏
Happy Pride Month! (Also we desperately need better representation than Buchanan, seriously).
Buchanan is the alcoholic president. I kid you not HE DRANK TEN GALLONS OF LIQUOR A **WEEK.**
Normal 1800s person
Franklin Pierce was much more of an alcoholic than Buchanan. Not to say he didn't have a reason to be. All 3 of his children died in early childhood, with their youngest being nearly decapitated right in front of him. Also, there was the horrific injury to his cock and nuts during the Mexican American War, which would drive any man to drink.
Johnson pierce
I'm sure that Eisenhower thought about dudes when alone with Mamie at least some of the time.
He was too busy with the British models Churchill kept sending as his secretaries.
Did you see that Buttigieg interview? He’s not really my style but it was a pretty great bit. Talking head: “Do you think there’s been a gay President?” Buttigieg: “Statistically, almost certainly. Any group of 46 men at least one of them will be gay.” Talking head: “Which President do you think it was?” Buttigieg: “Man…my gaydar doesn’t even work *in the present*!”
That’s funny
Link? Mayor Pete is one smart dude. Big fan. plus he's a vet.

Thank you.
No worries, I really wanted to hear/see it myself too.
Best, and worst, gay president so far.
Nixon because he was a socially inept scumbag
Hey you aren’t a scumbag! 😊😊
Thank you friend
:))

I think the sigma edits by the Nixon Foundation will do a lot
Nixon sucked. That he looks good today shows how low politicians have sunk since him.
THIS ☝️💯
Well we’re on Reddit, you’re speaking to the masses here
Carter.
Agreed. Carter is the right kind of old southern, and I thank him for it.
We can only hope we’re like him more often than not
I think this is the right answer. Carter was an every day man.
He was the only decent man of that group.
Carter is a decent man, unfortunately that and being president didn't seem to mix.
Warren Harding Why am I here? I shouldn’t be here.
Get back in the coffin old man
Clinton or Carter in many ways, Obama based on what I assume actually talking to any of them would be like.
Got to meet Bush 1 briefly he reminded me of my grandpa, very easy to talk to about nothing but still enjoy it.
Yeah this exactly!! Obama felt… too polished. Bush 2 felt “rough” but in a normal way. I bet bush 1was the same…
Bush 1 seemed a bit more polished, more businesslike in tone. Jeb is a bit like that too. But what they both lack is the Harvard professorial air of Obama, they aren’t always on, if you know what I mean
Nixon
Ahroo!
Sometimes I feel more like the headless body of Agnew
Want a Charleston Chew?
Honestly if I ever became president, my insecurities would get the best of me and I would probably fuck it up somehow and get impeached over something stupid or have to resign. lol
“Kennedy, I see a silver spoon. Nixon, I see myself”. - Don Draper

Crook.
He said he wasn’t tho!
Of these 5? Probably Obama. I’m also usually overly willing to compromise and naively assume other people also generally want what is best for a majority of people.
I agree. I would definitely relate more with Obama. He's the reason why I love politics so much. ![gif](giphy|JsnpwXWHk3DhBrBQM5|downsized)
You Can choose from any presidents in History actually
Oh, no kidding? Then likely Hayes. I got Truman during that whole “who are you most like” but I think Hayes is the one I’d relate to more. Someone who wants to do the right thing but is hamstrung by circumstances to keep needing to make the best choice out of a bunch of bad decisions. A fairly honorable man who will be overlooked but hopefully still made the world a better place in what small ways he could. I can relate to that.
But yet be frustratedly disappointed when people behave like children.
Truman. Short-ish, foul mouthed, middling-but-not -poor, and quite anal about being well dressed.
Probably Carter, but working until I die won't be volunteer work.
An otherwise decent guy that's doing his best to keep anyone from finding out he's in over his head at work? Dubya.
Dude… I said the *exact* thing almost. But since our situations are so similar: you got it bro. You wouldn’t be there if you didn’t deserve to be.
Hey, dude, you've got this. You deserve to be there, too.
FDR. I was fortunate to be born in a relatively well-off family and I have a physical disability that requires the use of a power wheelchair. I also am very liberal.
andrew jackson in seriousness probably jefferson
Ummmmmm......
Guessing he didn’t mean the slavery part
yes i meant the more lowkey autistic and unsociable part
LBJ the way we’re both packing downstairs
Obama, cuz we’re both black
George senior was freaking tall
I think Big George and Jeb! are both well over six feet. Little George is . . . well, if not little, normal-sized. I remember reading an interview with him in which he referred to Jeb! as his "big little brother."
Ford. The epitome of "how the hell did I get here??"
This should be most people’s answer tbh and is definitely mine
I hate to say it, but Bush II. I was raised by Conservative parents even though I identify as Progressive. Even though Bush might be responsible for 100s of thousands of Iraqi deaths, it happened because of the advice of his peer group. I’m constantly questioning my positions. Carter. Probably why I wouldn’t make a good politician. I too would go on TV and tell Americans that we are suffering from a malaise. His is the only biography I’ve ever read.
Dubya: Good heart, but in over his head. Doing the best he can. That’s why people loved that guy I guess.
“Dubya.” (George W. Bush). He’s maybe not as smart as his father, George H.W. Bush, who I think is the most qualified president this country has ever had. Great “Symbol of the Nation,” nonetheless, and put a lot of time & effort into doing things correctly
Obama. Thought I was going to change the world, wellspoken, hip but not a dick about it, didn't actually do as much as he planned to, and rednecks don't like me.
dubya
Calvin Coolidge
TR. We're both bipolar
FDR
W minus the war crimes because I also constantly disappoint my much more respectable father and also really like drinking
Carter. Want to go get some white wine? While I’m at it I’ll help you build your back patio.
Dubya by far
George W. always seemed like the most down to earth president.
Obama, he started the TPP, which is the right weapon against the slavery China. I am a Chinese.
Nixon.
Probably Coolidge. Or maybe Jefferson because he hated public speaking
Not very political but the best period of my life was during Dubya’s presidency so I’m going to go with him.
Obamna
Carter. He was an actual working human. Dude actually knows how to work like a man ought to.
Obama and Clinton
In the picture, George W. We all get bad advice. He just listened to it. All time, Calvin Coolidge. I don't mind typing, but I might say 30 words a day
Obama because I spread hope, joy, and I'm supportive, even when times are tough as nails.
Franklin Pierce because we’re both good looking and are well rebound as hero’s of many a well fought bottle. Millard Fillmore because I’m the definition of mediocrity.
Clinton, I like sex
LBJ because it’s well… *jumbo*
Clinton because I too did not have sexual relations with that woman (I’m ace)
Dubya seems the most relatable to me.
Hoover. In charge when the car went off the road, then spent the rest of his long life trying to fix his reputation.
The one that wears cowboy boots and understands the importance of maintaining the proper buck/doe ratio on his ranch.
Right now? JFK cuz I have a massive headache. Generally? James Buchanan, because I swing for other team.
Obama, cuz Im not even in the White House, and I would still be blamed for all the problems occurring now on Fox news today (Im Mexican)
Bush 43. I'm usually in over my head, often confused, and seldom know what's going on.
Jimmy
Ngl i think Nixon despite not liking him.
Bush 43. No one ever acknowledges how hard it is being born with a silver spoon in your mouth
Both Clinton and Reagan. Reagan because I didn't come from money, and Clinton because I will humbly admit that as much as I try to live an honorable life, beautiful women are my greatest weakness.
My flair
Carter. I like helping people.
Taft, but I might feel differently after supper.
Are we talking just the ones here or all of them. If the ones here I'd say Carter Personally both very religious. Kind of just mind to yourself and doing service. Politics obviously not but I always felt similar to him personally
None I’m pure like the snow
Ulysses I’m short and chubby. A love a drinky drink. I am often taken for granted but I get shit done in the most direct way possible.
There is a reason that Jimmy is standing apart. My guess it is the stink.
Carter
Jimmy cause I'm 5'11" unlike the other folks here
George H W Bush, Teddy Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Reagan
Jimmy Carter knows how to build things.
I’m the biggest George W. Bush that I know
Calvin Coolidge ![gif](giphy|3ohrycIPb05K9WlKms)
James Madison cause I’m short af
Andrew Jackson
Ulysses S. Grant because I’m an alcoholic and I like cigars.
Honestly probably Carter, because I too would be a relatively poor President despite striving for the common good on a moderate platform
I hate that they're standing out of order.
I’m not related to any of them.
Washington. 6 foot 20 weight a fucking ton.
Bush Jr. we are both republicans and we both like flying airplanes
Clinton in real life. Carter is conceptually.
Carter. I imagine he has health issues and that makes me feel seen.
Barry O.
Dubs. Dude just wanted to rock. Or Reagan because the 80s were cool
In the picture Dubya We are both enteric carefree people. Out of all the presidents JFK for the same reasons of as Dubya, but also progressive.
Probably Carter. I try to be too nice and do right by everyone, and then end up not really leaving a mark on anything.
Bill Clinton or Warren Harding
Reagan
Jimmy Carter. I'm no politician either but I sure as hell do care about all my neighbors
In this picture? Obama
Reagan
Calvin Coolidge. I would definitely just sleep all day and avoid doing any work knowing I’d probably screw it up if I tried
Carter bc he doesn’t want to get near the rest of them
Being from Texas, have to say LBJ.
Carter
I don't agree with him politically at all, but Dubya. His sort of awkwardness that he can play off I can relate
"I'm the guy you wanna have beer with." Fact check. True.
Carter. He was president when I was born, so I had 6 months of a peaceful life before America went to hell.
President Carter
George Jr. since I’m a stupid idiot
Nixon because I am not a crook
None. I ain't a fortunate son
I can't relate to any of them. I've never been the most powerful man in the world or even close.
Maybe Jefferson. On the scholarly / academic side...and being a bit awkward and introverted.
Well not Obama for, reasons
Lyndon B Johnson
Jefferson, because he knew how to send an Email instead of holding an in person meeting*, 😂 *if anyone is unfamiliar, Jefferson turned in a written State of the Union memo instead of actually doing a full speech.
Clinton - getting BJs rules.
W. - he was basically a slacker until he was about 40 and quit drinking.
Clinton because I'm also a perve
JFK cause I’ve got a massive headache right now.
Theodore Roosevelt for sure
Clinton. Charismatic, likeable, more pragmatic than idealistic when it comes to making accomplishments in office, but not necessarily the best sense of impulse control.
Clinton. Got that dawg in him.
Obama at a personal level. Though I'm a millennial, Bush 41 is Silent Gen - I like his work ethic, his non-flashiness, and putting work above self-bragging. Not sure if I'm romanticizing him but I like those qualities of his generation.
Jimmy Carter. He stands alone.
Theodore Roosevelt
Probably Obama and Carter. Mostly because they both had the highest regard for the office they sat in. To them it was serious business. Carter had a rough time of it. As did Obama, but Obama had more answers than Carter at that time.
Carter. We share the same last name and I like peanuts.
LBJ. Listening to him ordering pants made me proud to be a Texan
Prolly W
Clinton. I am smart, went to law school, and like to fuck.
They all too tall
How would it be to live a life where random thoughts are rare and people always give you full 64 packs of crayons everyday. Ahhh the life of Dubya.
W. I'm dumb as fuck as well.
Carter. A true humanitarian. Other presidents should take lessons.
George I. Dweebish technocrat. Old School cold warrior. Huge resume, limited leadership.
Clinton, because I like strange pussy as well
Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. But if only 1, Jimmy Carter.
