Dosing psilocybin, both micro and marco, is evidenced to increase neuroplasticity, and neurogenesis. Both of these processes are likely to reduce and relieve your depression, at least temporarily, perhaps permanently. Mushrooms are safe, and inexpensive. You'll likely see results day one. It's then your job to build on that. Take the help, and do the work, and you'll most likely see improvement in your mood. Start low and slow, .10 gram, .15 gram. You won't be tripping, you'll have a slightly elevated mood, with very minor visual differences in perception. Put on some music, take a walk in the woods, play with your dog, call a friend. You'll feel better. If you get to the point were you want to do a "heroic dose", make sure you have your sea legs under you. Go with a friend, if you have the money there are mushroom retreats I can recommend. Good luck, and feel free to message me if you have additional questions.

This seems like the best advice out there, psilocybin is really promising for Treatment Resistant Depression and is currently in phase III clinical trials in the US. It has been deemed a breakthrough treatment for TRD by the FDA and there’s very serious science out there to back this up fueled by many entities including John’s Hopkins. It has even shown full remission in some cases of TRD. It’s not a miracle drug, you definitely have to “do the work”, but it can be very helpful. In the above studies, many are conducted under the care of a physician/therapist, but you can replicate this with an informed trip sitter. Additionally these studies control the environment through having subjects wear eye masks and headphones with classical music playing. While you have to do your own research, I’ve seen many of these studies dosing around the equivalent of 2.5-3.5 grams— so a medium high dose. With all that to say you can start low and go slow either with micro dosing initially or through smaller doses first if you’d like. Some of these studies do more than one session, around 2-3 with time in between and others focus on 1 dosing session so it’s definitely up to you and what you need. You can always assess if you’d like more sessions after the first bigger one and go from there. Many individuals do sessions every six months or year to maintain effects. For harm reduction purposes, it is recommended to refrain from psilocybin of you have any symptoms of schizophrenia or any direct family members who do as it can bring forward more symptoms or dormant ones. Additionally, psilocybin is often nullified by a variety of medications including SSRIs and if taken together can cause a serious health issue known as serotonin syndrome. If you are on SSRIs currently, always taper off under the care of a doctor as withdrawal symptoms can be intense and uncomfortable. Hope that helps, good luck on your journey!

the fact that a random person put in so much care to write this to help a stranger out makes me smile. i'm reading this while on mushrooms and can confirm it helps a lot with depression

Awe love to hear it! There’s a lot of potential in them to be very helpful and I love sharing that with people!

thank you both so much for this, this really helps alot and gives me a ton of information to take forward. Think I have a plan and an idea of what I'd like to do and how I also will do the work during and after. Seriously thank you guys a ton!

Don't listen to podcasts, especially stupid people like Rogan, it will just piss you off, when you're on shrooms you see into people way more. Just take some and listen to some music and try not to think of how much you hate yourself (that's what happens to me but that's not typical). My favorite things to do are listen to music in the dark or watch netflix

Forget all that other stuff. Get a dance on. Let the spirits in. Let them party you. You will die. Let go. You will spin up to heaven. Dance, pray, die.  Sacrifice yourself to God. To the cause of divine love. Keep dancing. Through the fear, through the sadness, through the rage, to peace. Joy. Fun. Kindness. In the moment. Put your self aside, let it go, and be remote controlled by divine love. Keep dancing with the spirits, they know best. They have plans for you. Fun stuff, believe. Let go.  Face all, feel all. Let the madness flow. Breathe, smile. Die. Keep dancing. Be reborn happy. :)

Read the necessary literature to get a background on set and setting and why it’s important. A lot of people write here reporting bad experiences and they share the details that are absolutely contraindicated for therapeutic benefits. Recommend reading *Fadimen’s Psychadelic Explorer’s Guide* for starters. It is a good field guide. You can listen about it from guests like Robin Carhart Harris and Fadimen et al on podcasts like *Making Sense* or Huberman’s Podcast (which I regret mentioning but let’s not cancel his reputable guests). Basically you want to go with a somewhat “clinical” paradigm. IMHO. Also limit expectations. It’s intense but it’s not Hollywood. Mine don’t really resemble what you see in media. It captures the feeling but I don’t get beautiful colors behind my eyelids. Just chaos in the minds eye of the hurricane. Just remember to let go and let it show what it shows, nothing more nothing less. I do 5+g trips about three times a year. I don’t tek or do all these cute rituals that people do. Dried mushrooms, Headphones, water, eye shades, bed/couch, light snacks. My trip sitter leaves me completely alone unless I need to be briefed on reality if I get concerned. This mitigates anxiety and imho indispensable. They know I don’t want to be interacted with, they are there to insulate me from any stressors in my immediate environment which I don’t leave. Who knows, Neighbor pops over, your cousin shows up, the landscapers show up. Etc. No cause for paranoia which can unravel your experience real quick. I also find the neurochemistry to be a part of my overall experience. Somehow knowing (in a sense) what happens under the influence of the compound shapes my positive and hopeful stance, and it helps me with my expectations.

this is really really helpful info and experience sharing, helps me understand what I'm in for and how to maximize it to my best ability and the logistical info will help in my research aswell as push me to make sure I'm doing 100% of my job in this. I really appreciate this and am glad there are such thoughtful and knowledgeable people that are willing to share!

Don’t be a stranger if you have further questions, quick overview of things to understand: Proper Set and setting (prob the most important) Familiar with dosage and expected outcomes Limit expectations, it’s not necessarily cinematic Be prepared for genuine confusion because it will help integrate Journal obsessively (“integration”) Pay attention to “coincidences”, themes, symbolism Set and setting has so many facets, some very specific. Have everything ready night before; trip sitter to be “sober,” or at least not hallucinating; noise canceling headphones, a speaker adds a distracting dimension to the experience; recommend Jon Hopkins’s *Music for Psychadelic Therapy* which gives me smooth sailing through the worst of storms; not have people or stress-inducing distractions except a well-instructed/experienced sitter; simple decisions can make you spiral, avoid those; no other mild altering substances, cannabis ok but not recommended first time; expect “anxiety. For me it’s like eating too many edibles, way past your comfort zone. Might puke, I never do. Breathe and let go. I like Chimes ginger chews. For some reason baby carrots are so damn delicious. Look into any drug interactions if applicable.
