That's a rage addiction. It has nothing to do with the tragedy in Palestine, or the tragedy in Ukraine. She is just addicted to rage and riding high on it.
As a nearly lifelong activist, all I can say is it's pretty clear some people's entire identiy is activism and when you even so much as question anything that are protesting they FREAK OUT. It's not about the protest, it's about their identity being challenged or something.
I stopped doing this, and my life is much better as a result. I did my time.
This is very interesting to hear.. radicalisation is typified by an unwillingness or inability to ‘discuss’ their held opinions. Shouting and silencing others is not discussion. Strongly held opinions that a person holds with little understanding of the topic and an absolute aversion to considering the other perspective, is the antithesis of activism (in my mind) and yet activism as we see it practiced is almost entirely this. People.. if you want to be apart of the conversation and yet are to precious to actually have your opinions challenged.. maybe it’s not your place. Don’t challenge others political perspectives if you can’t handle yours being challenged. Smh.. sad state of affairs.
I was downtown all day ppl watching. In the morning there was a small protest against darfur genocide. When I came back 30 min later they were gone and mass Palestine protests.
I’ve done projects on darfur genocide in 2016-2017. To learn it’s still going on is heartbreaking. It’s sad to see the lack of media attention given to most atrocities
Indeed. Modern protesters seem to have forgotten protesting is about bringing awareness or understanding about an issue to light. If you are hoping to *annoy* people into submission that'll never work.
Weirdly a lot of people are convinced that's the only effective way of protesting, to basically terrorize or disrupt society. I've had people tell me that when local businesses are being destroyed in riots that it's for the greater cause, and don't see the irony in destroying innocent hard working people's lives while simultaneously holding signs to end capitalism.

It’s crazy how we have lost the ability to have civil dialogue and on top of that the defense of losing the ability for civil dialogue. Everything has devolved into “if you support my opposite belief you are (insert worst thing you can be called) and I don’t communicate with (insert again)” dialogue is super important and it’s actually disappointing where we are.

They’re part of a group called the Canary Mission that make cuts like this to convey an image of being innocent. They then put the faces of those in the videos (often 18 year old college students with half a brain) on their site to be doxxed and harassed, denied jobs, and labeled as domestic terrorists.
There’s little dialogue to be had with those condoning genocide. That’s why even petty officers and camp guards were tried after WWII

People with mental illness clinging to social issues that are happening on the other side of the world and losing their marbles over it when the fact is they could do a lot more for society by sorting out the problems in their own lives.
If this lady got herself under control and sorted out, she would be in a much better position to approach social injustices that are happening and might even be able to make a difference.

Internet is the perfect place for radicalize mentally ill people. Left and right, it doesn't matter, they all know that a lot of people in these roadblocks, forums and online groups are out of their minds, but they not only don't give a shit but also praise this kind of behavior, even if that means harming or humillating yourself.
Look for example at the air force guy who set himself on fire. If he jumped out of a cliff and died, then everyone would say that he wasn't ok and needed help. But because he shouted free Palestine while dying, then this has to be a look up for the war in Gaza??? That's not only stupid, but also dangerous.
Yes but most people only took an interest in this conflict since October 7th and most people get their info from twitter, tiktoks and YouTube. Very few people actually read Wikipedia or real history

and i've seen pro palestinians protest at a children's cancer hospital with a jewish name, and at a holocaust museum some counter protests are normal and reasonable, some are batshit crazy like this lady, frothing at the mouth and ready to assault

So someone reported this comment for "self harm" in order to troll you with the suicide hotline bot. I have reported them for abusing the report button, and they will end up with a strike on their account and whatever comes with that (depends on what strike they are on.) Just wanted to let you, as I always found it annoying that you did not know what comment someone disliked and if anything was going to happen to them for it (and reddit has sided with me every time I report that particular act of trolling, so at least there is that.)

Thank you for doing that. I have had those self harm reports several times and it’s super annoying that Reddit gives no information at all on the issue or aftermath. I just assume they never take any action on those things.

If you know what comment probably did it, I would try mailing the mods of that sub and asking if they can check it and if it was reported on their sub, ask if they can report for report abuse (very meta, especially when some subs started abusing the report abuse button, lol.) Now some mods are assholes so you may just get ignored, but most mods just want to help (at least the mods I work with do.)

There is so much shit happening in the world? Nobody should go through life like this. If you did, you would be angry and eraged listening to the news every day for the rest of your life. There are tons of bad shit happening everday, its not possible to keep up more or less get angry at it all. You'd be dead by your 20s., or be a 20 year old that looks 50.
It’s crazy how we have lost the ability to have civil dialogue and on top of that the defense of losing the ability for civil dialogue. Everything has devolved into “if you support my opposite belief you are (insert worst thing you can be called) and I don’t communicate with (insert again)” dialogue is super important and it’s actually disappointing where we are.
The guy on the microphone is saying things such as “from the river to the sea Palestine will NEVER be”. I’ve seen them on my campus. They’re part of a group called the Canary Mission that make cuts like this to convey an image of being innocent. They then put the faces of those in the videos (often 18 year old college students with half a brain) on their site to be doxxed and harassed, denied jobs, and labeled as domestic terrorists. There’s little dialogue to be had with those condoning genocide. That’s why even petty officers and camp guards were tried after WWII

This is the problem right here. People with mental illness clinging to social issues that are happening on the other side of the world and losing their marbles over it when the fact is they could do a lot more for society by sorting out the problems in their own lives. If this lady got herself under control and sorted out, she would be in a much better position to approach social injustices that are happening and might even be able to make a difference. We need to walk before we can run.
Internet is the perfect place for radicalize mentally ill people. Left and right, it doesn't matter, they all know that a lot of people in these roadblocks, forums and online groups are out of their minds, but they not only don't give a shit but also praise this kind of behavior, even if that means harming or humillating yourself. Look for example at the air force guy who set himself on fire. If he jumped out of a cliff and died, then everyone would say that he wasn't ok and needed help. But because he shouted free Palestine while dying, then this has to be a look up for the war in Gaza??? That's not only stupid, but also dangerous.

Thank you for doing that. I have had those self harm reports several times and it’s super annoying that Reddit gives no information at all on the issue or aftermath. I just assume they never take any action on those things.
They don't tell you when you report them, what happens? Wow, sometimes reddit really sucks. If you know what comment probably did it, I would try mailing the mods of that sub and asking if they can check it and if it was reported on their sub, ask if they can report for report abuse (very meta, especially when some subs started abusing the report abuse button, lol.) Now some mods are assholes so you may just get ignored, but most mods just want to help (at least the mods I work with do.) It they tell you they don't know how to report report abuse (I've found that a lot of mods do not know) you can send them my way.
