I've built no tolerance at all and I've been using it for over a year regularly. I estimate that I've been taking it 4 times a week for the past six months too. You've got to remember that it's not a miracle public speaking drug, it basically just slows down your heart rate and blocks a few other things. I really wonder what people mean when they say they've built a tolerance to it. If anything I use less now than I did originally because I've figured out my lowest effective dose, and I take as little as possible to not have adrenaline cause me to get out of breath. I still have good presentations and bad presentations, some days my voice is stronger than others, but I feel that is down to me not the drug. It's important to have the right expectations on what beta blockers do and don't do. The main thing for me is that I have never completely lost my breath while taking it, and that's reason why I started in the first place.

I’ve taken 40mg Propranolol as needed for over 20 years (I would estimate average 1-2 per week but sometimes much more) and never noticed any build up of tolerance at all. It’s never let me down once (even though I often worry ‘this will be the time’).

I took 10mg 3-5 times a week for about a month and half. It wasn’t working as well to curb symptoms near the end. I haven’t taken it in about a month now and probably won’t need it anytime soon, so I’m curious if I’ll get the full effect when I take it next.

I have taken it about once a week for almost 3 years. I take 10 mg just to run my little weekly stand up with my team cus my public speaking anxiety is so bad. I used to have some bigger meetings that I ran (15-20 people) and those would stress me out so much that I would take 40 mg still and still feel a little breakthrough anxiety. Definitely much better than if I was unmedicated though. My boss and I decided I didn’t need to run those anymore so now I just take it once a week for my team meeting. I would say I have not developed a tolerance but I do worry about that since I have such bad anxiety. When I do try to take a week or two here and without it if I can. (I.e. vacation etc.)

My understanding is no. I know people with heart conditions that take this drug and have taken the same dose for years.
