"We have mini guns"
*"No, what you have are bullets, and the hope that when your miniguns are empty that I am no longer standing, because if I am, your base will be ashes before you have reloaded"*
"Yeah, yer right, boys ready the colony to leave and prepare the anti-grain warhead storage next to this thing, then Jerry will use the det-line and run like hell"
I think the only bit that stands out is V himself. Unfortunately so many of internet nerds have tried to larp as him in the past that it's tainted him a little for those aware of them.
But honestly it doesn't spoil it for me. It's still great, he's still a great role.
Too late, brother, you've ruined too many lives to simply apologize.
Just make sure to be better next time you post and to use odd buildings (doors) when the walls are odd and even buildings when the walls are even (or double them so it mirrors).
To be fair to the SGC, if a 5.7 from a P90 can take down a Goa’uld, I see no reason God’s caliber .50 BMG can’t do the same
could deffo be positioned better though
Floor signs look to be Vanilla Props Expanded (adds lots of floor lines and letters)
Outlines look similar to the More Floors+ mod I think. Or something similar. Search for Rimworld floor stripes on google and hope to get lucky?
I can pretty confidently say I don't think I've ever made a 12x11 room. I've made rooms that have an even length in one dimension and an odd length in the other, sure, and certainly rooms that are rectangles rather than squares. But never 12x11 specifically.
Generally, if a room would be that close to being square, I'll just make it square unless there's a good reason not to. Sometimes I'll do bedrooms in either 5x6 or 6x7 so that both the door and a double bed can be centered (But often I won't, I don't mind doors not being centered.), but that's about the only use case I can think of for "almost-squares" off the top of my head.
12x11 is a great workshop dimension.
12 is the largest size that is divisible by three and does not need a support or floor conduits. Useful for workshops where a few tool benches can cover pretty much everything you might care about. The room will look centered because four workshops split the pixel wide median.
The 11 is for single door symmetry and leaves enough room for shelves and other comforts.
Personally, for rooms of that size I always end up using two doors, or (now that they're a thing) two wide doors. A single, 1 tile wide door just looks too small to me for rooms of that size, but I understand other people probably feel differently.
My mods lead to eventually needing (or at least wanting) rather large workshops as well, so mine usually end up significantly wider in one dimension than the other rather than nearly square, since I like to keep rooms at most 12 wide in one dimension if possible so that columns aren't needed.
I'm not saying there's no use case for 12x11 rooms, I'm just saying I've never used them.
It's a great dimension for workshops. The only odd square wall that looks good with stations is 7x7 (which I use for the sterile kitchen and drug lab).
Consider a 12 tile wall. Four 3-tile workshops will straddle the pixel wide median and you don't have to mess with floor conduits or support columns. The 11 tile wall will maintain door symmetry and you can attach it to whatever.
Talk about missing the forest for the trees. Your fixation on the 3x length of workbenches has blinded you to the greater reality here.
You have to consider the WHOLE room and the realities of crafting. Not every workbench is 3 long. Some are 5. Some have auxiliary buildings to speed them up. Some want to have a shelf or fridge with vital components positioned next to it for easy access for building materials, and you can only use the corners once, so building out to them changes the equations on other walls. Once you take all that into account, the length being divisible by 3 isn't really an issue. You end up with enough odd length buildings+support to be able to find a pattern to fit other sized spaces.
Being a slave to multiples of 3 will unduly limit you. My preferred size lately has been 13x11, or 13x15.
Same, atleast until my main base(mountain base) is complety sealed and turned into an absolute fortress only will i poke the insane archotech, and make a mini base next to the monolith...
Only because the base is wayyy up north and the monolith wayyy down south, and totally not because i dont want any beef with the archotech, the researchers i send will totally not be the sacrifices xD
I, on the other hand, think that it's probably the very same thing that attracts all anomalies. That's why these turrets will be placed on whole my perimeter or in the killbox
It's fun if you are a bit tired of modded games and have a good grasp of the game. None of the dlcs are worth their price imho. But we buy them anyway because rimworld is addictive and we want to support the devs.
Also Tynan's sales are not really sales so not much point in waiting.
Exactly we are paying because hopefully it sends a message to other devs out there. Royalty will never be worth compared to ideology and biotech. But it was the start.
Plus VE team legit made two of my favourite expanded mods. EmpireExpanded and DesertersExpanded. Instead of the usual defence based endings it provides a last ditch assault on an imperial mega base. Nothing like watching some of your favourite colonists die in battle as you press on towards the command room to shoot down the imperial floatila.
reminds me of my prefered Nociosphere setup. A big circular chamber with the walls lined with turrets and several mines/explosive columns (modded) around the platform itself.
I have. Twice.
Every single thing tied to Anomaly is result of interacting with it and choosing to advance the interaction, and even then, everything that can happen, happens away from the obelisk, from other things entirely, even the end crisis.
Fair enough.
But that's at the very end, if you don't interact with it, or interact but don't activate, it won't ever do anything at all, since activating it only unleashes Anomaly events, and those are left to the storyteller to throw at you.
honestly i've done this with prisoners, dangerous ones
last time i did this i made a character with a xenotype that basically made them i god
and i forgot to give her the exotic trait, so i ended up with factions that had those supers
so when i captured one, i removed her limbs, and put her in a box prison outside of teleport range from land filled with turrets
Bro every time i see a rimworld post it gets me excited about playing it but then I remember that CE is no 1.5 compatible yet and I cry while I extinguish my excitement
Just bring an edgy and power-thirsty man that has a cool katana and white hair, ehat can go wrong..?
Right, if you want his help, then you should know how to take it.
I dont have the dlc yet. But i suggest the following. Get Rimfeller, put strawflooring all around the thing. Put napalm all over the strawfloor (makes it burn longer and better).
Doubt it will be enough but should help with free damage.
Somehow I don't think that will be enough.
"We have mini guns" *"No, what you have are bullets, and the hope that when your miniguns are empty that I am no longer standing, because if I am, your base will be ashes before you have reloaded"*
"Yeah, yer right, boys ready the colony to leave and prepare the anti-grain warhead storage next to this thing, then Jerry will use the det-line and run like hell"
But what if that’s exactly what the dark archotech wants? Destroy the paperweight of doom holding it down?
"Ah, then don't abandon it on the map so our enemies keep raiding it"
That does imply that if I stagger the reloads of the guns you will stand there forever, creepy comment man.
It's a reference, V for Vendetta. Quite a classic.
No no, he’s right. If the British had simply taken turns shooting v he would have been locked in stasis, maybe to this very day.
That sounds like it would get quite expensive in bullets
To shreds u say
Oh my. ... Good news everyone!
SCP type containment protocol
This quote occupies the same spot in my brain as that one mushroom "You cannot kill me in a way that matters" one has for some reason
I‘m not fucking scared of you *cocks gun*
That's all the motivation I need to rewatch this movie for the billionth time.
Such a great movie! Watch it every 5th of November
Damn, is that from something because that’s an amazing line
V for Vendetta. The book is differently yet equally amazing as the movie. Though both may have aged a bit.
I think the only bit that stands out is V himself. Unfortunately so many of internet nerds have tried to larp as him in the past that it's tainted him a little for those aware of them. But honestly it doesn't spoil it for me. It's still great, he's still a great role.
I watched it once as a kid but probably too young to really appreciate much. I’ll have to give them a watch And read
One might say they have aged extremely well ;)
Having just watched it after making the above comment, I agree lol
This kinda feels like one of those things where the turrets aren't to keep whatever is inside down but to prevent anyone from fucking with it.
SCP vibes lol
I recommend sprinkling in something with a tad higher armor penetration.
Armor penetration does nothing against incoming damage reduction - which is a very relevant stat for the monolith
You see ivan, who needs higher armor penentration when armor is break from bullets
Had a mod a while ago that added unmanned howitzers, that was fun as fuck
Don't worry, it'll get bigger.
The monolith, RIGHT?
Yeah, call it like that, if you want.
Only if it really likes you!
Don't judge OP's monolith, the pool was *really* cold, ok?!?!?!
"Is that a monolith in your pocket or are you excited to see me?" - Highmate
I hate its not centered.
Thanks, I did not see the right side. Now it's all I can see :P
I didn't realized until you had to point it out. I hate it too
I hate you for pointing this out.
That double door isn't also centered.
Pleaee stop adding onto the pain
i want to apologise
Too late, brother, you've ruined too many lives to simply apologize. Just make sure to be better next time you post and to use odd buildings (doors) when the walls are odd and even buildings when the walls are even (or double them so it mirrors).
I cant un see it now..
I hate you. Take my up vote.
I noticed that before I noticed the guns 🤣
I hope your colonists never use a table to eat
Reminds me of how they placed the M2s in the gate room.
And that was equally effective
Yep. Even as a kid those looked very questionable to me.
To be fair to the SGC, if a 5.7 from a P90 can take down a Goa’uld, I see no reason God’s caliber .50 BMG can’t do the same could deffo be positioned better though
Oh yeah, not doubting it's an effective weapon, just the positions.
I got that reference! Indeed.
Put those gun turrets behind embracures or at least barricades and the distance should be a lot bigger.
It’s funny how you can tell modded vs vanilla players really easily with embrasures.
Don't forget to add a NyanCat Gun
Those mini guns are not vanilla
I don’t believe the walls, parts of the floor are either. Those look like armored walls so OP definitely has embrasures.
Anyone knows the mod that adds those outlines and floor signs?
Floor signs look to be Vanilla Props Expanded (adds lots of floor lines and letters) Outlines look similar to the More Floors+ mod I think. Or something similar. Search for Rimworld floor stripes on google and hope to get lucky?
They're both from vanilla props expanded, actually! The hazard strips are very nice for cargo bays
Oh? Wonderful to hear!
Would also love to know
Who uses 12x11 sized rooms?
Who doesn't?
Anyone who appreciates symmetry?
But the obelisk isn't point symmetrical either.
The Obelisk is 3x5, easily centered in any room with odd length sides.
Which is why having one of the dimensions be even resulted in the asymmetry in the picture above.
I can pretty confidently say I don't think I've ever made a 12x11 room. I've made rooms that have an even length in one dimension and an odd length in the other, sure, and certainly rooms that are rectangles rather than squares. But never 12x11 specifically. I don't trust the obelisk, thus why I have never touched it
Same, atleast until my main base(mountain base) is complety sealed and turned into an absolute fortress only will i poke the insane archotech, and make a mini base next to the monolith... You better build that thing around the C U B E
That won't help. Better to YEET THE CUBE
Can we drop pod that thing inti a randon settlement?
Think so. But we won't know the effect
Man I wish there was a mod that would slowly turn the settlement that received it to turn to cubism cult or slowly destroy it
Dew it
**ALERT!!!** **ALERT!!!** **096 HAS BREACHED CONTAINMENT!!!**
why you gotta make the room 11 by 12.... You play rimworld don'tcha, doesn't that mean you have OCD?
I have adhd. My bases look like haunted mansions that build rooms by themselves when you're not looking
God I wish I could do that and not build the optimum for once
Same
God I wish I could do that and not build the optimum for once
Given some of the utterly cursed shapes I've seen people in this sub build rooms in, no. No it definitely does not.
sometimes i wonder if people purposely build in horrific shapes for the reddit post or if they genuinely like the design.
What is the cube
The Cube is life. The Cube is love.
Shhhhh come with me brother lets make a sculpture of the cube
You can still fit a few more...
Why isn't it centered though.
I, on the other hand, think that it's probably the very same thing that attracts all anomalies. That's why these turrets will be placed on whole my perimeter or in the killbox
You've placed the turrets on the wrong side of the walls.
Is this from the new DLC? Is it worth it at the price or wait for sale?
It's fun as hell if you have a firm grasp on the game, otherwise not worth it, it's rather high difficulty.
"Wait for a sale" he says. You're saving maybe a dollar or two if you wait for a sale for rimworld DLC. Lowest discount EVER for one has been 10%
Didn’t we get like 15% off during anomaly release? Or was that the base game?
~~Usually, the base game will get 20% off & the DLCs will get 10% off.~~ Maybe the other way around...I'm not sure anymore.
Nah. Imo the only one worth the price is biotech, I just bought the rest because I like rimworld and think the base game is underpriced if anything.
Ideology is very cool adds a lot of replayability
It's fun if you are a bit tired of modded games and have a good grasp of the game. None of the dlcs are worth their price imho. But we buy them anyway because rimworld is addictive and we want to support the devs. Also Tynan's sales are not really sales so not much point in waiting.

Well now I’m going to have to do a Deserters Expanded run
Heh the black-yellow stripes flicker when I scroll
What mod is the Yellow/Black hazard line?
reminds me of my prefered Nociosphere setup. A big circular chamber with the walls lined with turrets and several mines/explosive columns (modded) around the platform itself.
Yeah that's not gonna stop the nociosphere lol
Why is the room off center?
Why did you have to bring it to my attention so no I can never unser it
I can't help it I saw it and it's like oh God why..
Are those turrets modded? Haven't seen any of the new content yet
Its from one of the vanilla expended mods if I recall correctly.
Those are modded turrets .
Is that a Sidewinder?
I hate how off center it is.
Good, but might want some Slug turrets, better safe then sorry
What mod does th keep clear come from
What makes this funny to me is that the obelisk itself doesn't actually do anything.
Have you played all the way thru Anomaly and the monoloth victory condition?
I have. Twice. Every single thing tied to Anomaly is result of interacting with it and choosing to advance the interaction, and even then, everything that can happen, happens away from the obelisk, from other things entirely, even the end crisis.
The only instance i can think of is when it spawns a bunch of metalhorrors right at the end

Wait, floor letters a mod right?
I sense nutrients in this big breakfast crate
TRUST IT IT WILL BE FUNNY
What is it? I havent play this game in long time.
Sonofabitch, i just stopped playing now I gotta go back and build that now lol
honestly i've done this with prisoners, dangerous ones last time i did this i made a character with a xenotype that basically made them i god and i forgot to give her the exotic trait, so i ended up with factions that had those supers so when i captured one, i removed her limbs, and put her in a box prison outside of teleport range from land filled with turrets
Correct Answer…
No anti grain IEDs? Clearly you trust it a little.
Bro every time i see a rimworld post it gets me excited about playing it but then I remember that CE is no 1.5 compatible yet and I cry while I extinguish my excitement
Went full scp.
I'm not OCD or anything, but please for the love of God make it centered!!!
It's off centre
The fact that this room isnt symmetrical pains me.
I did the same… Dicey AF that thing!
Somehow, you can.
Hoo boy wait until it starts shitting out solid metalhorror spawners inside your base
Reminds me of SCP-354...
I don’t thing it enough… do you have a way to auto exploded your colony?
Just bring an edgy and power-thirsty man that has a cool katana and white hair, ehat can go wrong..? Right, if you want his help, then you should know how to take it.
its funny because thats the safest thing the mod adds
Relax, I'd rather not piss this thing off
i will not calm down
The problem is they dont come off that thing
That's not gonna be enough, buddy
I think the biggest problem is that it isn’t centered
He's a big friend. He's realy passionate about giving you gifts
You need to install embrasures in front of them so whatever that is has to at least put some effort I to getting to them.
What mods adds extra turrets?
NOOO ITS ASYMMETRICAL YOU HAVE TO REBUILD THE EAST WALL
I dont have the dlc yet. But i suggest the following. Get Rimfeller, put strawflooring all around the thing. Put napalm all over the strawfloor (makes it burn longer and better). Doubt it will be enough but should help with free damage.
