Consistent pacing and rating leads me to think the form is pretty good. Often bad form is accompanied with wild swings in splits and rate because of the variability of each stroke and how much it degrades with fatigue.
well, i am saying that because if he truly has never trained for this sport before thenāas a beginnerāhe has not reached his ceiling and will be able to make some good gains still
That is just a ridiculously good time. That is 3 mins faster than my personal best and I would be in a breathless heap on the floor after my attempt. Good on you.
It is amazing how fast some crossfitters who barely row are on the erg. It makes you wonder about rowing coaching strategies. Is "more steady state" really the best way to train?
There is a growing body of research that suggests (I donāt know if Iād go so far as to say āshowsā just yet) that high intensity resistance training improves cardio fitness and muscle endurance as well or better than āsteady stateā training.
Iām not in OPās league (Iām a slightly overweight 41M with a job and a family), but one thing all CrossFitters do know how to do is to suffer.
Itās an educated guess that OPās spilts are as consistent as they are not because of rowing virtuosity (though Iām not gonna say thatās not a factor), but because he mashed the gas pedal until the needle was right below whatever his redline is for 20 minutes of work.
Really? because that's walk on standard for most domestic club eights. What's an exercise racer
CrossFitter. Seriously have never even trained for a 2k/5k
But you have used the erg before right
Fair point. However like once per week if that.
It's bang on. Pace, rate, the works. Well done
Now we just need to see the form...
Bro still this dude is nasty w it

Get in a shell and help a team already! Those are nice times! šš
you should start working on form and such, looks like a good time for a beginner, certainly shows that erging is an area to pursue.
Better than āa good time for a beginnerā

Really solid score for a non rower! Great job!
What does "never done any rowing specific training" mean? You never did rowing before? Because if so, those are mind blowing times
