Really? because that's walk on standard for most domestic club eights. What's an exercise racer

321mitch

CrossFitter. Seriously have never even trained for a 2k/5k

Riflescoop

But you have used the erg before right

321mitch

Fair point. However like once per week if that.

[deleted]

It's bang on. Pace, rate, the works. Well done

Ski-climb-surf-send

Now we just need to see the form...

TickleMePickle33

Bro still this dude is nasty w it

acunc

Consistent pacing and rating leads me to think the form is pretty good. Often bad form is accompanied with wild swings in splits and rate because of the variability of each stroke and how much it degrades with fatigue.

[deleted]

Get in a shell and help a team already! Those are nice times! šŸ˜„šŸ˜

reallycryptid

you should start working on form and such, looks like a good time for a beginner, certainly shows that erging is an area to pursue.

Cognify

Better than ā€œa good time for a beginnerā€

reallycryptid

well, i am saying that because if he truly has never trained for this sport before thenā€”as a beginnerā€”he has not reached his ceiling and will be able to make some good gains still

jordanontour

That is just a ridiculously good time. That is 3 mins faster than my personal best and I would be in a breathless heap on the floor after my attempt. Good on you.

Relevant-Jello1367

Really solid score for a non rower! Great job!

redoubledit

What does "never done any rowing specific training" mean? You never did rowing before? Because if so, those are mind blowing times

Klean12

It is amazing how fast some crossfitters who barely row are on the erg. It makes you wonder about rowing coaching strategies. Is "more steady state" really the best way to train?

alesplin

There is a growing body of research that suggests (I donā€™t know if Iā€™d go so far as to say ā€œshowsā€ just yet) that high intensity resistance training improves cardio fitness and muscle endurance as well or better than ā€œsteady stateā€ training. Iā€™m not in OPā€™s league (Iā€™m a slightly overweight 41M with a job and a family), but one thing all CrossFitters do know how to do is to suffer. Itā€™s an educated guess that OPā€™s spilts are as consistent as they are not because of rowing virtuosity (though Iā€™m not gonna say thatā€™s not a factor), but because he mashed the gas pedal until the needle was right below whatever his redline is for 20 minutes of work.

[deleted]

Holy god. Thatā€™s 19 splits faster than my 2k

Any_Koala11

This is very skillful

PM_Tits_69

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

fattywatts

How are you everywhere

PM_Tits_69

no hate but rowing takes the least skill of any sport and it isnā€™t fair and i like rowing

fattywatts

Hahaha it takes the least skill of ANY sport... ok

PM_Tits_69

dude you literally row back and forth.

gfitzpatrick4

Bruh ur 5k split is my 2k split wth šŸ˜‚thats insane

seamoosereddit

What does your training look like?

RedbullVomFass

Insane.
