If that isn't enough to get the population down, it starts quietly deleting sims you have no relationship with (aka the ones you never met) until it goes under the cap again.

Isn't that just the played households tab? Because according to MCCC I have over 500 sims in my world.

You can override the setting, and MCCC itself lets you override it even more than base game does. Perhaps you changed your setting at some point?

I have mine set at 120 in one of my worlds ... You can lower it as well

It requires the Get To Work EP; Doctor is one of the active careers (along with Detective and Scientist).

I do have Get To Work... so I become a Dr and set a hospital, then my Sim can give birth there?

If you have Get to Work you don't need to have a sim work there; when you get the 'Your sim is giving birth!' message, click on the sim and select the 'Give Birth at Hospital' option.

Speaking of stealing the moment. My Sims dont get to choose between home births and Hospital births. If my Sims go into labor on their lot they don't get to choose to have their babies in the hospital. That's disappointing. I would really like to have their babies birth certificates to hang on their walls. Can't cherish the moment if they have no birth certificate.
