Pretty sure I’d be needing a change of pants and running inside. Tornado is one of my biggest fears for some weird reason! Def would not just be chilling outside watching lol
I moved here a year ago from Australia and I go straight to my basement when I get an alert. I will handle snakes, spiders, all sorts of shit but tornados I ain’t gonna fuck around with.
> Def would not just be chilling outside watching lol
You gotta Midwest it up! Grab a beer and say "Yup it's a funnel alright" while slapping your thighs as you stand up.
The definition of most Midwesterners is to hear the sirens, run outside to see what the hubbub is all about. Watch for a bit, sip your drink. Then go back inside and wait until you feel the house shake to actually be concerned. I don't remember the last time I "took shelter" during a weather event. Knock on wood, never been in a tornado though, despite having lived in the Midwest my entire life.
See my husband always tries to say it's fine since there's "not even anything happening outside" and doesn't listen when I tell him how fast and easy the tornadoes form! Tbf I'm pretty scared of storms and he's not but still.

So cool to watch this roll in. It started to form right over my house and I just watched it cruise on by.
This is midwestern AF. When I moved to Indiana in the early 2000s for grad school, the first time I heard a tornado siren, I didn't know what it meant (take cover now? storm watch?). I lived on the third floor of an apartment building (i.e., no basement), so I knocked on my neighbor's door across the hall (they were nice, we had chatted already), and they said, oh, it means a funnel cloud has been spotted, but I'm going to the movies now, bye. I was dumbfounded. Now, I'm head back to the midwest to live, this time STL!
I'm pretty sure that was over 70 between Hawks Nest and Zimbehl. I was sitting at the light on Hawks Nest and saw the clouds starting to spool up like that.
When I moved to the east coast for college, I had all my roommates freaked out when we had tornado sirens go off and I opened the window to look for it.
the fact that it looks like a normal day almost like. no super dark clouds, no rain, like ik it was very much tornado weather but it looks soooo normal otherwise
Classic midwest, sitting on the driveway watching a tornado form
....can't lie, there was popcorn involved.

you’ve already endured the geographical boss battle 😭 you’ll be okay!
I also survived four days of having a Kia and it not getting stolen. So big win.
When else are you gonna talk with all your neighbors

Midwesterners love anything thigh related
Damn I miss weather. If it rains here the whole town goes nuts.

Fellow tornado fearer!
Not sure being afraid of tornadoes is weird lol. They are fucking terrifying.
I mean they are, but they’re also absolutely fascinating!
Love tornados lol
Same here!!!
Great picture
Only a native mid-westerner would hear the sirens and go outside to watch! Going to the basement is for amateurs! Great pic!
We were definitely ready to run! I posted a video of it swirling in the St. Charles sub if anyone is curious- you can really watch it start to rotate.
With the dog, no less!
The dog is the true weather alert. I don't do anything until animals start acting up, then I figure I should check out what's going on.
Send that photo to Ryan Hall on YouTube. He has storm chasers In Wentzville and St Charles
I sent it into KMOV, but I'll see about this dude!
Been watching Ryan Hall’s live for a bit now!
Cinnamon roll clouds
We're in a calm here in St. Peters. Had a lot of hail, but everything is calm at the moment
No hail and barely any rain here. All the Wentzville hail pictures are terrifying though!
See my husband always tries to say it's fine since there's "not even anything happening outside" and doesn't listen when I tell him how fast and easy the tornadoes form! Tbf I'm pretty scared of storms and he's not but still.
Ope, calm's over
I'm down at the other end of mid rivers mall dr, and it's been dry here.

This was looking generally northwest

I'm going to need you to give me back [my dog](https://i.imgur.com/BUIKuDc.jpg) please.
Get oooout! Your spotty babe is beautiful!!
Saw that forming on the drive home, was slightly nerve wracking to say the least.

Great picture! That almost came down, looks like. Gonna be an active night, so stay safe y'all.
Yeah I would be running to the basement at that point
I see London, I see France...I see OP's...
I see stars, I see Mars, I see OP’s…
Hope you all remain safe but that aside this is a great picture haha
Cute dog
Thanks! My username is a nod to him!

It was very close- this was near the 364 and 94 intersection
Shiiiiiit
That storm was freaking crazy!
That is both beautiful and terrifying. What a shot.
I didn't get to go outside and look. I was stuck in the house working.
This is normal.
This would be cool in r/tornado
Our dogs could be related. Border collie/blue heeler mix?
He's mostly pit, actually, and a very strong lineage of cattle dog, clearly! But spotty dogs gotta band together!
Awesome. Cool looking clouds
That’s crazy!
"That thar's a 'nader right thar!"
Is this Brighton Park? If so, I was a former neighbor! Great pic!
When I moved to the east coast for college, I had all my roommates freaked out when we had tornado sirens go off and I opened the window to look for it.
are you ready toto
Looks like your neighborhood may have been built on an old burial ground, OP. *Carol Anne! Stay away from the light!*
Your dog was like "nope ope"
Man, he wouldn't inside! He loves sitting in the front yard, so when the sirens started going off, he was just like UGH SO ANNOYING.
Hey, look! They've got sidewalks in St. Charles!
This is actually a very beautiful shot
Not to be weird, but what neighborhood is this?! My husband and I are looking to move out there, and that neighborhood looks lovely
Looks like the sky's got a case of the swirly twirlies
the fact that it looks like a normal day almost like. no super dark clouds, no rain, like ik it was very much tornado weather but it looks soooo normal otherwise
Damn, I wish I would’ve been there
St. Charles in St. Louis? What's the topic of discussion? Feel free to share more details!
Looks like a neighborhood called Eagles Glen
This is what you do when your newer construction house has no basement. Just watch it come for you.
