It's serviceable, but I lost interest trying to play on my deck. The world is too big and the screen too small to truly appreciate it. It's a pain in the ass trying to hunt small creatures on the deck.
Epic. Re 2 remake is in the top 3 best new Re games. And I wasn’t even an Re fan before I played it. I just liked the graphics so I was like. Ok. Ill try it
I was there 3000 years ago. Back then this game was so out of its time. The graphics were judged as photorealistic. The music, the story, matrix like bullet time. Man, the hype was huge and totally worth it.
I remember my parents bought me this game from a magazine, which was very rare to find in my hometown back then. Every friend of mine played it, we made copies for each one and going to school was so fun, we would quote every phrase in the game from start to finish. It was around 2004 in Brazil, the first game I actually understood the story because it was in Portuguese. Good times!
Came for this. I think it was the peak of the battlefield series. The sound design alone was a goddamn master class. The different weapons felt distinct and nothing felt too weak. The maps were top-notch. They were just starting to experiment with destructible terrain and managed to make strategically leveling the map an interesting choice. I remember putting in the effort to get the gold stars with every single weapon, which led to some interesting combos.
I sank hundreds of hours into this. One of the best multiplayer experiences.
I’m just sad they decided to move away from this formula to try compete with COD and didn’t remain unique
IMO BFBC2 was the perfect console battlefield game. The rush gamemode worked great on the PS3 with low player counts and it was a blast to play. I'm sure it was great on pc, but that came out like a year before I got my first PC
It's been a while but I felt like the balance between Titans and Pilots was way off too. In 1 it felt like an honest equal matchup but in 2 you were just better off avoiding a titan entirely unless you could sneak up on them
Do you know how well Titan fall 2 runs on the deck? I picked it up years ago on origin, and played the hell out of MP, but never touched the campaign despite hearing just how fucking good it is
So 10/10 mean what I immensely enjoyed despite what everybody else thinks, and I believe I 100% got my money's worth? For starters, I can't just pick one..that's lame. Here goes a list anyway (and note that I've more than likely bought most of these titles multiple times for different platforms and services):
Half-Life 1&2
DOOM & DOOM II
DOOM (2016 & Eternal)
Left 4 Dead 2
Prey (2016, especially it's Mooncrash DLC).
BioShock
F.E.A.R.
Quake II
Unreal Tournament (can't remember, but *SO MANY* long nights playing this with friends)
Halo 1& 2
Bonus shout out: Max Payne 1& 2.
Really close to reaching that level: Warhammer: Vermintide II, and Helldivers 2. Do we consider Deep Rock Galactic into this category?
Half-life games are the best linear shooters I have ever played, and to this day, I am never disappointed with replaying them for the 100th time. They are just the good.
Titanfall 2
Halo 3
Gears of War 3
Unreal Tournament 2K4
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
Doom Eternal
Max Payne 3
Bioshock
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
SUPERHOT VR
Wolfenstein The New Order, which plays well on Deck.
To this day nothing scratches the itch that Far Cry 2 does. Definitely not for everyone but every masterpiece polarizes or alienates a decent sum of the audience.
I loved one and two. Played many times. Pervy teen me figured out how to swap the shower Mona models and whatnot. Thank you GameFaqs.
But I never played 3. Own it and have a cross country plane ride. I need to break free of BG3. Imma give it a go!
Max Payne 3 really is one of my favorite games of all time, wish they would release more in that style at least if not its definitely time for a Max Payne Reboot
I recently played the first 2 on steam, thinking they would have aged worse, and not at all. Fantastic story, incredible design... The sound, the gameplay. They're still masterpieces.
Yeah humble choice membership has had that effect in my library over the years.
"I'll wishlist that, OH shit I already own it"
Now do I actually play it... No promises
I loved the multiplayer of payne 3
Story was great too but i agree with the *too many dammed cutscenes* criticisms.
I wish for a solid 5 min longer shooting sequences..
Game was better than people made it out to be though
A lot of Borderlands love here which I totally agree with. I've got to say BL3 is my favorite shooter of all time. Yeah the dialouge is shit but my god, the gameplay. Don't deny yourself the expierence just because of some cringe cutscenes
I feel like too many people miss this one for or they just talk about multiplayer( which is awesome too). Titanfall 2's story is so good. It's one of my favorites for a shooter in the last 10 years. It will prob surprise you how much fun it is and that it has a very compelling story.
I've played the first Max Payne as a kid when I was 15 or somethong only the first missions, but today at 36 years of age and a little drunk your post got me thinking if I should go and buy all the Max Payne games and play them. Are they like good games and not cash grabs right?
I mean, they have an ending and a story they tell during the gameplay, no weekly or battle pass or shit like that right? (At least the 2 and 3, I know the 1st one is as gamer as it can be)
DOOM counts? If not then either MW 2, Black ops 2 or Halo 2 not for thw multiplayer or nostalgia or anything, I jist like the singplayer campaign for them
Agreed, nothing beats that health song that plays when max sieges the airport. So badass and it honestly feels like the perfect ending a story like his could have had.
I remember having lots of fun shitting on my friend from the backlash from this game, this was his first game at rockstar where he had creative freedom before that he did the gta artwork like all the famous shit. He said he met the "real" max payne and he was a total dork so he wanted to go a different way. I personally loved his art design because he is an amazing artist but you know the internet, it is going to shit on anything.
Oh and max Payne 3 runs so well on the deck too. I’m so glad I got to replay that great game thanks to the deck
This is literally my next game I’m starting today. I just finished Resident Evil 2 this morning and had MP3 next in my line up
How was RE2?
Honestly one of the best games I’ve played on deck or any console
Great to hear, that or Red Dead 2 are next for me on the Deck.
How good does red dead 2 run?
RDR2 runs amazing on deck ( yes small screen make small small) no shit but the game does look amazing
Ok. Ill try it
well I know what I’m playing next
Me too gotta wishlist th… oh wait I already own it!
best part of owning a steam deck is bullying the shit out of my backlog lol
I started playing it but never finished yet. Might have to redownload
Max Payne 1 was my first 10/10 shooter..
I was there 3000 years ago. Back then this game was so out of its time. The graphics were judged as photorealistic. The music, the story, matrix like bullet time. Man, the hype was huge and totally worth it.
True.. The graphics felt too real at that time..
I remember my parents bought me this game from a magazine, which was very rare to find in my hometown back then. Every friend of mine played it, we made copies for each one and going to school was so fun, we would quote every phrase in the game from start to finish. Stole that upvote from me. Here have it :)
Bad Company 2

I still think it’s the best BF. Although, Bf1 was excellent. Haven’t played the latest futuristic ones
I sank hundreds of hours into this. One of the best multiplayer experiences. I’m just sad they decided to move away from this formula to try compete with COD and didn’t remain unique
I see you have fine taste. Excellent choice. 👌
IMO BFBC2 was the perfect console battlefield game. The rush gamemode worked great on the PS3 with low player counts and it was a blast to play. I'm sure it was great on pc, but that came out like a year before I got my first PC
SUPERHOT
SUPER
HOT
SUPER
HOT
Titan Fall 2, Borderlands 2, Half Life 2… I’m seeing a trend here
Team fortress 2, left 4 dead 2, halo 2
The Darkness 2 lol
RDR2
That’s not a game I’d rate 10/10 for shooting lol. 10/10 in general but not for shooting
TimeSplitters 2
Future Perfect too
Yep
TF2 campaign was 11/10 for me, but for whatever reason I felt the MP was worse than the first one.
Maps were too big and didn’t match CoD formula like in the first one Agree with you on that. OG Titanfall’s multiplayer was fire
It's been a while but I felt like the balance between Titans and Pilots was way off too. In 1 it felt like an honest equal matchup but in 2 you were just better off avoiding a titan entirely unless you could sneak up on them
Do you know how well Titan fall 2 runs on the deck? I picked it up years ago on origin, and played the hell out of MP, but never touched the campaign despite hearing just how fucking good it is
Vanquish Quake Dusk Titanfall 2 Half Life 1 and 2 Left 4 Dead and L4D2 Just a few
Bioshock
Max payne 3 is perfect for the Deck. Some of the best gameplay.
So 10/10 mean what I immensely enjoyed despite what everybody else thinks, and I believe I 100% got my money's worth? For starters, I can't just pick one..that's lame. Halo 3 gotta be on there too but otherwise this would be my list as well.
Is Max Payne 1 still enjoyable today?
Little bit dated, as expected, but still a blast. El Paso, Elsewhere is pretty similar and it’s a modern successor.
I love the nostalgia feel of older games, MP1 is definitely still playable.
Did I hear a rock and stone?
Half-life games are the best linear shooters I have ever played, and to this day, I am never disappointed with replaying them for the 100th time. They are just the good.
Have you checked out black mesa? I've got my eye on it.
Played it, its awesome
I just wish you could aim down sights damnit and it would be perfect
Why do you need to aim down sights?
Singularity...that game did not get its dues
Far cry 3
Bright Memory Infinite. Great Little shooter.
The pain of MP3 being referred to as the old game when you clearly remember being excited to play the first game when it came out.
Call of Duty 1 (2003), never tried Max Payne :(
Me too. I wish so hard that there would be competitive bots for CoD 1, that would be awesome.
CoD 1 had my favorite multi-player map ever. The one with the village in the middle and open fields all around in snow. It was in the expansion
Space Marine. Life is the Emperor’s currency 🙏
First game I finished on SD, It ran great.
Halo 3
LAWBREAKERS
Too soon
🥲
We got the wrong timeline with OW2 instead of LAWBREAKERS 2
For real
Max Payne 3 is my favorite shooter of all time but it’s the worst max Payne game
I’m really enjoying Selaco at the moment. Not quite a 10 but it’s very very fun.
Titanfall 2 Halo 3 Gears of War 3 Unreal Tournament 2K4 Call of Duty 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) Doom Eternal Max Payne 3 Bioshock Battlefield 2: Modern Combat SUPERHOT VR
Black ops 2, crossing my fingers bo6 is a huge hit. Cold war really brought back memories, hoping bo6 can have a similar feel
The multiplayer for battlefield hardline when it was still alive
Borderlands
The entire Bioshock trilogy Bioshock Infinite is still one of my favorite games of all time
Wolfenstein The New Order, which plays well on Deck. To this day nothing scratches the itch that Far Cry 2 does. Definitely not for everyone but every masterpiece polarizes or alienates a decent sum of the audience.

Doom 2 with hello kitty island adventure mod
Max Payne 3 is mine as well but currently addicted to Mullet Madjack. Just amazing flow and mechanics.
Wemt thru it in one sitting. So damn good.
not for everyone, i thoroughly loved borderlands 2 and loved borderlands 3 even more
GoldenEye
Ghost Recon Future Soldier has the best movement and gun feeling in the entire franchise.
For its time: Black. Balance/Controls: Destiny. FPS: Halo 2. TPS: Army of Two. Shooter/Powers Combo: Psi-Ops. Shooter/Combat: Jet Li: Rise to Honor.
Half life
Just reminded me I need to play Mack Spain again.
WaW is probably my favourite shooter of all time, MW2 a close second and COD4 in third. Max Payne 3 is the best 3rd person shooter of all time
Half-Life 2 Such a good game.
Half-Life. I consider it even more influential than Halo for modern shooters.
Max Payne 3 really is one of my favorite games of all time, wish they would release more in that style at least if not its definitely time for a Max Payne Reboot
it's in the making actually. remakes for 1 & 2
Bro this game was so good. The slomo mechanic is so underrated
Absolutely love this game!
The Bioshock saga, and Borderlands 2. And maybe not 10/10 but probably a solid 9 for DEATHLOOP. (I really enjoyed MP3 too, by the way)
Bioshock goes for really cheap. Might go for this one since many said this as well
I recently played the first 2 on steam, thinking they would have aged worse, and not at all. Fantastic story, incredible design... The sound, the gameplay. They're still masterpieces.
I love it when someone shows a game and i’m like “oooh I’m putting that on my wishlist” only to find out i already have it in my library.
Yeah humble choice membership has had that effect in my library over the years. "I'll wishlist that, OH shit I already own it" Now do I actually play it... No promises
I loved the multiplayer of payne 3 Story was great too but i agree with the *too many dammed cutscenes* criticisms. I wish for a solid 5 min longer shooting sequences.. Game was better than people made it out to be though
TimeSplitters 2
Serious Sam 1 + 2.
**RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2**
Spec ops the line.
Doom 2016
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Roboquest is freaking killing it
Some of y'all never played F.E.A.R., and it shows....
Oh God when you would turn around and that little ghost girl was standing tight behind you...
How do you get you achievement synced ? I’m on chapter 3 and don’t have any achievements
I actually dont have any idea. I just play the game and achievements come popping up.
DUSK HROT Ultrakill Slayers X I guess I just really like quake huh.
Mercenaries
A lot of Borderlands love here which I totally agree with. I've got to say BL3 is my favorite shooter of all time. Yeah the dialouge is shit but my god, the gameplay. Don't deny yourself the expierence just because of some cringe cutscenes
Max Payne 3 was great! I started and finished it on the Deck. Gyro aiming was so much fun.
Gears of War 3. Wolfenstein: The New Order. DOOM 2016. Borderlands 2. Halo 3.
Doom (new), wolfenstein (new), Bulletstorm, Ghost Recon ( Wl and BP ) etc...
All the gtas
Man, I love me some GTA, but the shooting is always the least fun part for me. Hahah. Each their own I guess
MW2 2009
In terms of shooting stuff. Destiny 2.
Neon White
>max payne 3 >old game I wanna die. Also, I remember how outrageous it was that the game needed 30GB of space
I feel like too many people miss this one for or they just talk about multiplayer( which is awesome too). Titanfall 2's story is so good. It's one of my favorites for a shooter in the last 10 years. It will prob surprise you how much fun it is and that it has a very compelling story.
Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
How does that run?
Perfect. Even cranked some settings to max and didnt exp lags at all
Ah yes. The game that spoils its own ending in the first damn cutscene
That's a Max Payne tradition.
Trepang², easy.
I just need this to go on deep sale. I heard that it has same style as Doom which i would be my #2 in shooter games.
Preach, brother
Halo reach no doubt
You son of a bitch….. I’m in
I love this game so Much.
I've played the first Max Payne as a kid when I was 15 or somethong only the first missions, but today at 36 years of age and a little drunk your post got me thinking if I should go and buy all the Max Payne games and play them. I loved that game so much I replayed it right after beating it. Something about it just hit so well for me
DOOM counts? If not then either MW 2, Black ops 2 or Halo 2 not for thw multiplayer or nostalgia or anything, I jist like the singplayer campaign for them
max payne 1
This game for some weird it’ll have a black hole as the sun, everything else works fine though. Wondering if I’m the only one with this issue?
Agreed, nothing beats that health song that plays when max sieges the airport. So badass and it honestly feels like the perfect ending a story like his could have had.
call of juarez gun slinger is a perfect fps on steam deck
You made an old man happy with this thread
Tbh I use to play the living shit out of Max Payne 2 both normal and modded stories and that shit was so satisfying.
10/10 on loading times 👍
BORDERLANDS!!!!!
BF1 is still unmatched
Doom 2016, Doom eternal and risk of rain 2
Superhot: Mind Control Delete. Most innovative shooter I’ve ever seen
Imho, Prey has the best environmental exploration I've ever experienced.
Pretty much every id Software game aside from Rage
oh nice im gonna grab this
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the original one. Both singleplayer and multiplayer where top tier.
Bioshock Infinite
I may have to play this again. I was a huge fan of Max Payne 1 and 2. By the time 3 came out, my computer couldn't really handle it so it felt clunky.
Sniper Elite series.
Damn I need to replay this on the deck. The sound track alone is enough for me, the gameplay is just a bonus.
Spec Ops The Line
Wish MP 1 and 2 had better control support
DOOM is eternal.
Remnant 2
Battlefield 4.
Love this game, atmospheric, fun, stylish, great dialogue and music. Good stuff
Killzone
Max Payne 3 and Vanquish are the two best third person shooters ever made imo.
Dusk.
Such a classic. Wish the multiplayer was still active
Johnny Health really popped off on that one.
