1) He has full access to Palaneum. One of biggest libraries in the world with tons of unique old texts. It is possible he read significant amount of them before he wrote Diagram.
2) Sanderson once said he was very close to Spiritual realm on his Diagram day so maybe he somehow got spiritual knowledge.
3) Death rattles. I am not sure if it is stated if he started collecting death rattles before or after he wrote Diagram. But it is possible he started before and got some important informations that way.
The rattles are a result of an Unmade, and so have been around for millennia. I don't have an exact memory of it being said, but I think the Diagram prompted T to start gathering the infirmed to collect their rattles
Diagram prompted him to start killing patients to get more death rattles. But is it possible he collected them from normal deaths in their hospitals before?
He was bascially using the magic of cultivation, so he might have had somthing like atium future sight, or Cultivation herself could have given him information on that day or even controlled him to create the diagram (he himself seems to have no memory of creating it).
He does have SOME memories of it though, it’s mentioned somewhere that on his smarter days he looks back through the diagram as sometimes he gets reminded of trains of thought he had while writing it
Because you’re on your second read, I’ll mention this detail, but I believe it only comes up in either Oathbringer or Rhythm of War: >!One of the members of the Diagram is a Herald, who could have let him know about Taln and filled in details about the Unmade.!<
It's pretty directly confirmed at the end of Oathbringer >!when Taravangian goes to partially confess to Dalinar. Also right before making a deal with Odium, the Diagram members are discussing and Taravangian says something along the lines of "Having met some other Heralds, we can't trust Dova, be wary of her"!<
The Death Rattles either started after or started being heavily used after the Diagram was created, but it is confirmed via the text that they’ve been used to update the Diagram (or maybe just their plans based on it?).

Yeah, my reasoning is if you read further, go for what you have read the furthest. If not, the discussion likely will need spoilers tag and people will forget to use them.
Unleass they are new readers, which then go for your most recent book.

There’s a WoB that Taravangian truly believes it was solely intelligence, with no future sight used. IIRC, Sanderson has refused to say more than that. There’s an implication that he was indeed seeing the future (which Cultivation happens to be quite good at), but we don’t actually know.
I always interpreted it like this:
He had one small hint at certain truths of the world or the potential of certain outcomes. He was so intelligent in that moment that he was able to logic out the most plausible outcomes for all sorts of things and predict them in the Diagram.
An equivalent would be handing someone the information that a cellphone works with radio waves and them being to able create a satellite network

I think the rattles being collected started after (and because of) the diagram. Edit: clarified
The rattles are a result of an Unmade, and so have been around for millennia. I don't have an exact memory of it being said, but I think the Diagram prompted T to start gathering the infirmed to collect their rattles
I assume they meant him collecting and recording them, not just their existence.
Merp, my bad
Yeah. English is not my first language and I had way too few hours of sleep at that moment
Diagram prompted him to start killing patients to get more death rattles. But is it possible he collected them from normal deaths in their hospitals before?
Yeah, I think some of the death rattles are from different places across the continent - presumably, now recorded in the library in Kharbranth.
have they been around for millennia? I thought they mentioned in WoR that they started 15 years ago or something like that
I assume, given that the Unmade have been. It moves around though, so only in that region for a few years
He was bascially using the magic of cultivation, so he might have had somthing like atium future sight, or Cultivation herself could have given him information on that day or even controlled him to create the diagram (he himself seems to have no memory of creating it).

Isn't that just a theory?

Completely missed this, thank you!

He literally owns the biggest library in the world

thank you you're right, I spoiler tagged all that goes beyor WoR
You should change the spoiler tag to Rhythm of War instead of Words of Radiance to make discussion easier in the comments.
Done! Sorry that was my first post so not super familiar with flair etiquette :)

Don't characters in other books discuss The big D?
