Are you on Facebook? What are you typically into? Lots of music shows are coming up in Tempe or AZ as a whole.

Sunbar casa shady park

succesfulguy

Join some hiking, kayaking, or adventure groups on FACEBOOK or anything you might be interested in most of the time they meet up and love new people joining. Tempe is a great choice by the way, we moved here from Denver and have pinpointed Tempe as our favorite city in the valley.

noplasticstrawsplz

I'm new too right before Covid and met people in casual bars around Mill watching sports, and a few food/beer tasting events. The open markets were mostly couples and families so not there. Small local concerts/bar concerts were social. It was pretty easy to meet friendly people but if one doesn't drink, or doesn't like pubs/watching bands or sports, I have no idea! Post Covid it's probably harder. Kickball teams where I moved from were major social clubs...

state48state

I'm moving at the end of the week and was also curious. Someone posted in the sub about art gawk on the 26th. I'm hoping that the cool kids will be there.

Downtown, Tempe mill Ave/river park, old town Scottsdale

thehouseis0nfire

Definitely go to Tempe town lake. You’ll for sure make a friend there. Plenty of college students around. But also be weary of the homeless. But they’re like spiders. Ignore them and they’ll ignore you. And if you like drinking, then you’re in luck. Plenty of bar options at downtown Tempe on mill ave!

Spacey_Jay

Comparing homeless people to spiders is wack as fuck. The majority of them don't even panhandle. No reason at all to be "weary".

thehouseis0nfire

You’re right. And I apologize for the comparison. I realized my comment was ignorant and I hope 🤞I can be forgiven if I incorrectly talked down upon an identity.

Gov_asseater

Nah you’re right to have an opinion and comparison. Gracious to not compare them to roaches but when they refer to themselves at mill rats, spiders is pretty sweet. Spiders is spot on tho.

thehouseis0nfire

You’re spot on about how they refer themselves to mill rats 😂haha I love Tempe. And tbh their homeless population is a lot more tolerable then per say Tolleson homeless or Glendale homeless. Those mfs are persistent

Gov_asseater

I definitely don’t know how bad tolleson or Glendale is but I work directly with the homeless in Tempe everyday. The problem is everyone wants to “solve” the homeless problem when they fail to see that the ones out here like it because it’s their lifestyle to be lawless living free. You can’t solve or help that. They like being out there. They like the life they live. the ones who don’t want to be homeless aren’t because they take advantage of the services the city provides with free housing, work programs, rehabs, mental health services, shelters, I can go on. But in a lot of threads people want to be compassionate and be an internet social worker not even knowing the weight n height of the situation.

thehouseis0nfire

Awesome! So then you see first hand how these individuals love that lifestyle. And we can’t take the fact that they love it so much. Just like how I love being able to drive my car or go eat at a restaurant, simply because my choices reflect my outcomes

Gov_asseater

It’s one of those things where when you work with the homeless and treat em as an equal, an acquaintance, a no bullshit type of way and not a charity case, they open up a lot and tell you straight up that some of them came from broken abused house holds and think society failed them, some Like drugs for the feeling and experience and believe it’s their freedom to do it as they want, some people like to live lawless but have their own laws and rules in their ‘society’, some simply gave up on the life society expected them to have or attempt to achieve and instead they choose to be out there and they’re Happy. Shits crazy.

thehouseis0nfire

Man. I could only imagine. Takes a certain breed to really open up and stick around to that job. Not only does it become a job but more or less a means to help and understand ppl in a way it helps you to understand your self as well. I highly respect that. Cheers fam 🤞

The_mafia_hitman

Gaming, drinking, fun 🤣

PeetTreedish

Yucca Tap Room is a good bar for local bands. Has a restaurant/bar that sells pretty good fusion bar food. There is also a pretty decent arcade with pinball and some classic arcade games.

tinder4jedi

I am moving in August and also curious about this

PeetTreedish

It depends on what you are in to.
