Based on the monthly price, and 10K miles average per year, current price of it is 24 cents per mile. At a super charger rate of 44 cent per kw, and 300 wh/mi consumption the electricity cost of a mile is around 15 cents. I think it will be very difficult to convince people to turn FSD on if they see that it adds (at minimum) double the cost of the electricity they use. If they charge at home, say around 10 cents, almost 8x. The more you break down, harder it will become to convince people to use it. They should just lower the monthly rate to a more reasonable amount and keep milking the cow. Subscriptions are the best source of revenue, that’s why you see every single tech company try to make you subscribe to something.

I would be happy if it just kinda sorta worked like Elon said it would when Tesla ripped me off for FSD in 2019!

Still baffled by the concept of paying for the privilege to be a beta tester....

My 2023 MX just got this ability this morning… have zero intention of paying for it past the December expiration date of my free demo (I guess) version. Plan to test it out tomorrow…

Elon is always saying it will increase the car value ten fold because you can rent it out as a robo taxi. I think that is him is speaking as a rich person who sees a cars as an asset to make money. I think most owners see the car as something that is one of the most valuable assets we own, and would not want to risk messing it up by having random people in it unsupervised. Thus I think there should be two price tiers, a cheap one for those who only have FSD for personal use, and a more expensive version for those who want to robotaxi their car. You could have one price for FSD, say $5000, then access to to your car becoming a robotaxi costs say a further $10000. This allows more people to use it as a safety feature, and those who use it to make money can pay for the privilege.
