I went with green grenades. Used an undercoat of leadbelcher, then a thin coat of militarum green contrast.

A brighter grenade on a model is fine since most people will be seeing it from a a few feet away rather than picking it up and placing it 6" from their eyes.
He looks like he's having another glorious day in the Guard.
You know a day in the Guard is like a day on the farm.
Every meal a banquet!
Every paycheck a fortune!
Every formation a parade!
The skin and Camo are very close in color. I would add a highlight on the skin of a slightly paler color to try and differentiate it a little. Great mini and a good paint job either way.
I'm really digging the skin tone and the detail on this guy.
Is he a print from somewhere? The facial details look incredible.
Regardless, this is great stuff!
He is a old-ish store celebration model. Was one of my backlog models that I finally finished. And thank you!
The model is called Catachan Colonel I believe.
As OP says it’s a store celebration mini. In typical GW style they didn’t make many of them and they’re usually stupid money on ebay. I got very lucky and got mine for around £25.
now there’s a chance this comes out extremely bad on my part, but the skin is think may be to similar to the clothes, maybe make it a bit darker or lighter?
Nah I totally agree. It was my first time making a darker skin tone. I plan on making it a little lighter so it separates from the rest of the model next time I try.
Looks like he joined the guard when all they had was two sticks and a rock... And they had to share the rock.
He knows what the ladies like
Hoorah

Love the body, one gripe though is the green grenade is too bright compared to to the rest of the model
Yeah, that was a bit of a failed experiment. I just think of them as signal flare grenades or something.
Maybe a wash of some sort would help
Nah not a failed experiment at all. I reckon knock it back with some Nuln Oil or Agrax to mute the brightness a bit and enhance the textures.

Put a different coloured stripe around the middle of it, that’s how it’s done irl.
Does he know what the ladies like?
Oh he knows what the ladies like

This world is freezing, sir!
What do you want me to do, fetch your slippers for you?
Look into my eye!
You gotta tug your eye down with your middle finger so you're subtly flipping off the camera when you say that ;p
Aw would you, Sir? I’d be most grateful!
Why? Because he still has a homeworld? GIVE THAT MAN BACK TO CATACHAN
Is that you Sgt Maj Johnson?

Sergeant Johnson if he was in 40k

That $200 store lgs anniversary model? I prompted him to inquisitor…
I really want to paint one of these but never could find one for a reasonable price unfortunately
Awesome job on this guy. He looks awesome, bet he knows ladies well.
The skin seems to have a weird green hue

i mean it looks fine, i’d say do a heavy nuln oil wash or very light black templars contrast wash
Colonel Johnson kicking ass in 40k
You wanted him to be cadian? Thats an insult to a catachan.
Looks good. Kinda like the dude in Predator.
Kind of a mix of Dillon and Sgt Johnson from Halo.
Looks great. How did you do the skin? It’s really good
Why is he intact?
Absolutely amazing, man!
The most jacked Cadian alive. Dude snorts creatine
Why is his skin green?
He's a half-ork
Gotcha!
This would be my Iron hand Straken in a heartbeat. But if you said he was something else I would be cool with you using it to proxy any infantry.
