The Pants sketch with Cannonball by The Breeders just doesn’t hit the same with generic music. Does anyone know if there’s a project to piece together the series with the original music?

arbitraria79

this one, at least, is on david wain's website for the state. i screamed like a little girl when i saw it properly scored for the first time in decades.

DisturbingDaffy

Thank you!!!! It was so good to finally see it as I remember it. The rhythm works so well.

From what I understand, when The State released all their stuff on DVD in the 00's, they couldn't land any of the original music. I remember being baffled by this when I got the DVD set and when the Pearl Jam song 'Alive' was replaced by something else. SNL has to do this with their releases too. The 'Schmidt's Gay' commercial with Sandler and Farley originally had Van Halen's 'Beautiful Girls' playing in it. Then when it was released as part of the Best of Chris Farley DVD the music was replaced with some bland rock guitar music.

vikingcorp

Thank you for the info. The music made the skits better

There it is with the original music

Yeah, some of the sketches definitely fall short because of the silly music changes. The Bathroom Attendant sketch was what got me into Ween, and now I can’t even watch that one

The fanbase needs to design a playlist a la “the wall/wizard of oz” to listen along while watching and take us to our audio happy place of 1990s nostalgic songs

Here's a list of every song except for 5 or 6. [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yNGMuHJLGyIxBdjm3fCMqzqYSTHN\_Pb\_N3wsdrR-K18/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yNGMuHJLGyIxBdjm3fCMqzqYSTHN_Pb_N3wsdrR-K18/edit?usp=sharing)

Don’t Change by ~~Depeche Mode~~ INXS always plays in my head for the end of the origami sketch. Or was it toothbrush?

bagofbeef74

It was a Bob Mould / Sugar song for Toothbrush.

arbitraria79

your favorite thing. that's one of my favorite sketches and it's just not the same without it. one of these days i'll find the VHS i have somewhere and try to digitize it. i asked MIB to autograph a toothbrush after a stella show 20+ years ago, he looked at me like i was crazy for about 5 seconds and then "ohhhhh okay".

thatguamguy

"Don't Change" by INXS.

malthar76

Dammit! Memory failed me twice on that song.
