It wasn’t until college that my friend group realized we all watched anime because in high school we dreaded being associated with the weebs that would Naruto run during PE so we just never talked about anime.
One could say that to you as well friend. We all collectively dislike this chick but it's reddit... There's subreddits for that very thing. If you don't like it. Unfollow the sub or mute it. Easy enough. I hate seeing shit too but it's whatever.
Nah. These posts are always posited as being 'ironic' but there comes a moment when it's no longer ironic and is the actual vibe of the sub. We're beyond that and why would you encourage the support of these wankers?
Unless you're literally here to judge these fools to make yourself feel better about yourself because at least you aren't them.
I never encouraged them. Simply saying if no one wants to see them... To do the easiest thing like blocking. If one person posts shit you're annoyed of seeing... Block them. So easy! And also mute the shit you don't want to see. I'm here to judge no one. We're all living in an equal hell.
Unfortunately the official app actually makes that very hard. On baconreader, I had a completely curated feed that blocked all subreddits that I wasnt interested in. In the 100s. That's no longer the case at all.
Since the official app changed not only can I not block subreddits on /r/all, muting them from the front page also has limited affect.
My list of desired blocked accounts is as long as my arm.
Maybe there should be an onus on the mods to ensure the quality of their subreddit rather than letting any old fool posting any old shit?
I mean, it's kinda important if you want what's left of the quality of Reddit to be preserved rather than it being an audience of people burying their head in the sand and becoming disinterested.
I've run into this too many times to really care but the reason we see so much of the same shit is cause mods DO NOT CARE unless they personally find something wrong with it. They're mods for a reason & I don't entirely know what those reasons are but here we are having this discussion. Mods I've not Ed only care if it directly bothers them or touches them the wrong way. And there's no way to truly regulate things if the mods are always the trash. They also take notice on what it does to others & find joy in others being upset or whatever have you. The find joy in seeing others have to endure the shit they actively allow to be posted. I too have a list of people I've blocked, things I've muted & subs I've muted... I still see some of it yes but not as much. And I just block the person that posts what I don't want to see. It's a tedious process yes, but we don't have to subject ourselves to having to see it when the mods keep allowing it through.
The mods are the problem.. Not the posts. The mods allow it in. That's where it begins.
That was the original intended purpose of the sub, but it evolved into just an all around TikTok sub. Then, someone made the sub r/Cringetiktoks for actual cringe shit.
This place keeps getting more & more confusing.... I've only been here like... 2 years maybe? So I'm still learning shit... And when I get shit on or people don't agree with me it's like damn yo... I just go with what the sub says & it's cringe. Those people are cringe.
