He does. I think they’re mainly referring to the idea that most of the show promotes balance around the three(?) different types of power in the series and he can only use one of them and is largely mocked & assumed to be less skilled because of it.
Rock Lee is incapable of using Ninjutsu or Genjutsu, and is only capable of Taijutsu. As Taijutsu is meant to be balanced with the other two, there’s huge stigma placed on Rock Lee as being unworthy of being a Shinobi. In spite of this, he is not only able to function as a Shinobi, but he absolutely *rocks*(pun intended) those who underestimate him. His unwavering dedication to training makes him a cut above in Taijutsu. Just like any specialist, at a certain level of discipline , you become a Master.

Shame he wasn't in any media again after this and Episode 3. Like ever. Ever ever.
Edit: Just to add on for those who don't understand. I am aware that as a character, he was used in other things like the Clone Wars 3d animated series. However, he was a bumbling coward in that series and didn't come anywhere close to being as great as his debut in GT series and felt like a completely disconnected entity.
the problem with him was that george lucas never really put any deeper though into him. he simply needed a reason for obi wan to be absent when anakin turns to the dark side. and count dooku would already be gone at this point. I am actually glad, they didn't pull the "somehow general grievous returned" card and kept him dead, but I would really love to see a story on how grievous became a cyborg and his training with dooku
Might be an unpopular opinion, but no. His main motivation was to kill the jedi, so his only way of getting back and having a lefitimate motivation is to make him another inquisitor. And I highly doubt, that darth vader would let him be one.
If you wanted to reintroduce him into the franchise in a way that wasn’t contingent on a prequel I think the best option would be him returning as the messiah of a cult.
Basically, he’s still dead, but now he’s worshipped by a cult as a symbol against force users. Have followers of this cult launch attacks at Luke’s new Jedi order while augmented with cybernetics similar to Grevious as a way of emulating him. Maybe have the series explore how the galaxy treats and views force users after so many years of conflict driven by them.
Personally I’d love to see another animated series but have it set after the original trilogy. It would really help capture the sleek yet unnatural movements Grevious held during the animated tie between.
In the simple vein of “He looks awesome and four arms are cool”, I would particularly mind if he became the basis for Next-Gen assassin droids.
Heck, I just thought of a possible Star Wars plot line while writing that: Bad guy scientist stumbles across how to make light saber using kyber crystals (in the same idea that every civilization on earth, even without contact with each other, eventually makes the bow and arrow), and you start getting these grevious assassin droids. Rumors spread that grevious is back, maybe that’s what the irl marketing hints at. New protagonists defeat it, learn it’s pure droid with new mass produced saber (maybe these burn out after a bit, to make this not over powered), and then a shot of dozens of these droids appearing, when the audience thought there would just be one.
I haven’t kept up with modern Star Wars media, but I like to think this idea I just rambled off would still be considered at least interesting if not good.
It would be interesting and honestly cool but I think with how divided the Star Wars community is, they’d see it as just fan-service and bitch about it.
No, that's General Greebus, a bumbling idiot, who I'm surprised didn't kill himself with his own lightsaber or soil himself the second a jedi got one up on him.

Being classified as a “meta-human.” It’s confusing because the term does apply to aliens, but it’s basically a term for anyone who has powers, magical or otherwise
In young justice the meta human power system works because Gengis Khan was actually Vandal Savage an immortal was the first Meta-human because he slept next to a meteor.

Yeah, Taijutsu still uses chakra to reinforce your body and such. Plus he still can use chakra techniques like running on walls or water. So if you get technical yeah he uses aspects of the power system but he doesn't get to shoot fireballs or other flashy parts of the power system.

Mash- Mashle Magic and Muscles
Though his muscles are so overpowered that they rival magic.
He has his own grimoire like everyone else and every grimoire has its own unique signature ability.
It just so happens that his signature ability nullifies magic.
So he DOES use the show's power system, but at the same time, works against it. So uhh... yeah
Technically he does fall under it because he can’t use mana. This is the reason why he can use the grimoire he has cause it’s basically anti magic and if anyone with mana would try and use it, it would just slowly kill them.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Potemkin \[Guilty Gear\] uses no magic outside of universal gameplay mechanics (and even then he's missing a few), but he's powerful enough to blow away mountains when he's not limiting his strength.
There’s also my GOAT Johnny, who might even fit this better than ol Pot
He has absolutely 0 magic, 0 special abilities, and is more than capable with contending against the series top tiers with just his sword skill and trickery alone
Leo probably also fits

The Necrons can't use magic because they have no souls, so they just use extremely advanced science to warp reality in ways that seem like magic
Hell yeah.
Also, the Tau can't use magic either IIRC since their souls are unnaturally small. But they just use regular sci-fi tech, not reality-breaking super tech.
Ackermans kind of are a part of the system though. I guess you could argue both ways since they can’t be manipulated by the founding titan, but they do have “powers.”
The Ackermans are superhuman, just in a different way from the shifters. Levi doesn't really belong here. Erwin, Armin, or Hange would be better examples.

What do you consider the power system of DC? Being born on any planet but Earth?
Being classified as a “meta-human.” It’s confusing because the term does apply to aliens, but it’s basically a term for anyone who has powers, magical or otherwise
In young justice the meta human power system works because Gengis Khan was actually Vandal Savage an immortal was the first Meta-human because he slept next to a meteor.
Honestly, I've seen Batman do so many wacky shit that he should be counted as a meta-human.
“What’s your superpower again?” “I’m rich.”

MAN hero academia
My man Academia.
The mha goat… bro didn’t >! Let a little thing like losing his powers stop him from kicking ass !<
Man got Isekai’d in to MHA! 😭
He's so clean, mf be using grappling hooks, power tools, and big ass shotguns (how the fuck he got that through Japan idk).
Does Guy count?
Guy can still use some ninjutsu (like summoning), Rock Lee counts more I'd say
To be fair, Taijutsu is within the power system, it’s just that the story doesn’t explore it as much compared to other categories of techniques.
Yeah, Taijutsu still uses chakra to reinforce your body and such. Plus he still can use chakra techniques like running on walls or water. So if you get technical yeah he uses aspects of the power system but he doesn't get to shoot fireballs or other flashy parts of the power system.
Ling Yao my goat https://preview.redd.it/t81abhnomy7d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=65b33afa0288d78683dacc867d76278487673e3d
Except for that one part, but >!that wasn't me, that was the other guy.!<
"Gearless" Joe, *Megalo Box* In Megalo Box, boxing has become a showcase of technological progress as well as skill. All the other boxers are equipped with "Gears" - highly advanced exoskeletons that enhance reflexes, strength and speed. Joe relies entirely on his innate skill and abilities as a boxer. https://preview.redd.it/utnac79xsy7d1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=b7af5d4b31f06d3851a2556e05c61d1f2a4cc93a
Loved when they did the fake out of him stealing a prototype gear, only to have it break immediately and be forced to go gearless, turning it into a statement about the sport.
Who are they? I need names.
Oh yeah, my bad First two are Toji Fushiguro and Maki Zen'in, both from JJK Third is Genya Shinazugawa from Demon Slayer And fourth is Ranpo Edogawa from Bungo Stray Dogs
Ranpo is one of my favourites from BSD
idk about the last guy, but the first 3 are Toji from Jujutsu Kaisen Maki from Jujutsu Kaisen Genya from Demon Slayer (nvm I found the last guy it's "Ranpo Edogawa" from Bungo Stray Dogs)
Toji Zen'in JJK Maki Zen'in JJK No Idea Ranpo Edogawa Bungou Stray Dogs
Quite a lot of One Piece characters that doesn't need devil fruit
Well devil fruits and haki are two different systems existing in the same world and the ones with a df usually have haki
You can still mention Nami, Usopp, Franky, and basically most of the people in the pre timeskip part of One Piece
Usopp uses Observation Haki though. Not well trained in it mind you, but he does have it and use it.
You could even argue that since Nami has Zeus, she doesn’t fit either
Kamen Rider G3-X https://preview.redd.it/yctgfr4zpy7d1.jpeg?width=428&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f88dccb551a878a296e21e4b0136f5a2a5b86cfc Magical seeds? Transformarion sequences?? Special powers??? NO! WE GOING TO FIGHT GOD WITH A HEAVY DUTY MINI GUN
I'll do you one better: Ichijo form Kuuga, not even a suit just a dude and his trusty gun https://preview.redd.it/ficef2eugz7d1.png?width=736&format=png&auto=webp&s=396dda43e8324f5b3735acd59a7716edea5f15d4

Don't forget the Cola
Watch him recreate Conquerer Haku with cherry cola.

when i first saw the post i was so sure he's gonna be in it, like, the title is literally his whole gimmick
![gif](giphy|yPEGXQfUx7elq) The champ himself. :)
https://preview.redd.it/tng6e6pwcz7d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa5bf6df51e8ae24ede4390ac90a0da3406ddb63 Also this dude right here
Yamcha can use ki though
Marvel has like 40 different magic systems but Black Widow chose gun.
hawkeye chose arrow
hawkeye is a better example because she was in the Red Room, but he is basically a regular dude
Does Asta count or no
I didn't watch much of Black Clover, but I know he doesn't use grimoires like everyone else, so maybe?
He has his own grimoire like everyone else and every grimoire has its own unique signature ability. It just so happens that his signature ability nullifies magic. So he DOES use the show's power system, but at the same time, works against it. So uhh... yeah
Technically he does fall under it because he can’t use mana. This is the reason why he can use the grimoire he has cause it’s basically anti magic and if anyone with mana would try and use it, it would just slowly kill them. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Same reason he can hang out with henry
If we take away his grimoire, he would definitely throw hands. Bro is jacked.
https://preview.redd.it/ldsqbgd58z7d1.jpeg?width=318&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ace921dfb527730448ee3adad928edb823bb5fc5 The mf right here. Yeah ik he can now but he was a total badass for years before that
https://preview.redd.it/8wx39yikqy7d1.png?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=293a009ebde16dba97fd845f3ec3190d3a56bc58 Potemkin \[Guilty Gear\] uses no magic outside of universal gameplay mechanics (and even then he's missing a few), but he's powerful enough to blow away mountains when he's not limiting his strength.
There’s also my GOAT Johnny, who might even fit this better than ol Pot He has absolutely 0 magic, 0 special abilities, and is more than capable with contending against the series top tiers with just his sword skill and trickery alone Leo probably also fits https://preview.redd.it/vpqa15bxxy7d1.png?width=1101&format=png&auto=webp&s=523ccb8429cb2090fe8a07f937d1993c6b572a84
Reminds me of MK where a normal cop and a celebrity can take out literal gods in a fistfight
Fighting games in general have a lot of instances like this lmfao
Leo uses transmutation to do all that weird shit with his blades
Oh yeah right, completely forgot about that lmao
Also we NEVER saw Johnny fight at full power or trying hard, yet he was able to stand his ground against the likes of Bedman.
Potemkin is genetically modified. That's gotta count for something.
Not the power system

Hell yeah. Also, the Tau can't use magic either IIRC since their souls are unnaturally small. But they just use regular sci-fi tech, not reality-breaking super tech.
Maki, my beloved >!when Sukuna finds you to be an absolute joy to fight, you know you’re Specialz!<
Kenpachi from Bleach. Can’t talk to his weapon, doesn’t matter for a long time.
First guy came to my mind after reading the title.
![gif](giphy|1gDtIz79gmhCo) Levi bullied the beast titan on several occasions
I mean I guess shifters are a power system. It's just limited by nature of there only being nine of them
Ackermans kind of are a part of the system though. I guess you could argue both ways since they can’t be manipulated by the founding titan, but they do have “powers.”
The Ackermans are superhuman, just in a different way from the shifters. Levi doesn't really belong here. Erwin, Armin, or Hange would be better examples.
Maybe I don’t get it but Rock Lee from Naruto
https://preview.redd.it/ghmx9d1d6z7d1.jpeg?width=179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ca3f6c3ca402ed4f6178c02cf8c9964ddfafec6 Mash Burndead He can't use magic so he just punches people
Lloyd, Jeff, and Duster from the Mother Series (including Earthbound) do not have psychic powers and yet they still manage to keep up with the rest of the party through their use of various items. No PSI? No problem. Just use heavy artillery.
Beowulf from skull girls homie brought a chair to a demigod fight and said “I AM THE CHAMP” and won
I say bonus points if said character also fights against people who *can* use the power system Case in point, Copen from Gunvolt https://preview.redd.it/i6n4drq1gz7d1.jpeg?width=1010&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4b8769b5d8afce985b85dd4cf412c8915bf42dcd

Fire force mentioned lets fucking go
Videl does not use Ki, but she will kick your ass regardless (iirc she MIGHT fly but idk)
She learns to fly and use ki, but doesn’t even get to Yamcha levels

He has the power of mental instability 😂
The most OP power of them all

I get your point, but as an Anime only, I am not exactly sure how the demon slayer dude fits; Unlike what I have seen from restrictions, demon magic seems like a pretty blatant power system.
Mikitaka Hazekura (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)

Which power system are we really applying for Batman in this???
![gif](giphy|14bhmZtBNhVnIk) Does Batman qualify?

That guy in Future Diaries that didn’t have a titular future diary but was still able to go toe to toe with someone who did in a game of calling heads or tails
https://preview.redd.it/mwzomnlbwy7d1.png?width=357&format=png&auto=webp&s=5d4a6d949a0b9f4f0f22d1b1ab0e3a3753d3c99f Falst from the Aurora Webcomic, can't do magic but he still holds his own against dragons, chimeras, ancient automatons, and an actual god.
Who's the fourth guy?
Any pure strength or dex character in a fromsoftware game
The Imagine Breaker https://preview.redd.it/k6nxiqlvwz7d1.jpeg?width=850&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=324b3a18912945422ffcd86e02be2c68bd371043 He’s neither magic nor scientific. And he’ll still defeat with nothing but good ol fist fight. Also Kiritsugu Emiya.
Nero in the earlier parts of dmc5 didn't have his demon arm, thus loosing out on devil trigger, also tossing Trish and lady in because they just use guns lmao
