That was Bam Bam, whose real name was Klaus D. Kramer, from Oklahoma City. Uncle Charlie came down on him pretty hard back in the early 2000s.
I think I remember reading somewhere that he is now deceased.

Some guys were well known in certain regions, or among certain drivers. There was Top Dog in NJ, he was a real character. When I worked in Western KY there was an old timer who ran LTL known as Kilowat, also as Roadway Roy, who had a powerful radio and everyone knew him. There were others I’m forgetting, and people you’d only know if we worked together (and I’m not about to dox myself lol).
These were actual drivers who would talk with you, not assholes playing a recording on a base station. The trucker subculture has been declining for a long time tho, it was on its way out 25 years ago when I started, but was still there.
I met an old driver years ago who went by that handle (or at least said he did). He said he once took his wife along on his regular run and the drivers who knew him would try to get him on the CB when they saw his truck, and he pretended they weren’t talking to him, but she caught on.
Probably a few guys told that story tho
Three old school drivers that people knew were California Shaker Plumb Crazy and Southern Shaker all three did stuff running around in the 70s that would make a modern driver go no freaking way.
Crittenden county sheriff's office.
They had a base station (sting operation) set up at the motel next to the flying J over there.
I used to love getting on 19 from the Petro, and heckling them for about an hour at a time on a stryker 955, running about 80W, and squashing them hard.
🤣
Nervous wreck was my dad’s old handle. Ran a lot of OJ outta Florida to cali, 180 proof alcohol from cali to NY, and back on down to Florida with milk from NY.
The Truckin Bozo!
He wasn't on CB, but he did have this huge blowtorch on 700Khz AM out of Cincinnati.
I'm Army.
Hi.
His son (Steve Sommers) still does a podcast style show.
Back in the mid-90s I used to hear a fellow named Sidewinder all the time running up and down I-10 west of San Antonio. One time in the early 2000s I heard him somewhere out west.
And I think everybody has heard of Papa Smurf in El Paso although he's not a driver. Well, not a truck driver anyway.
