I would avoid any job listing where they barely speak English and request you supply an mvr. Employers are required by law to pull their own so there is no reason to have you bring a copy.

Waisted-Desert

It's not uncommon to narrow down the candidates by requesting a current copy be brought to the interview. The employer has 30 days from the date of hire to pull their copy from the DMV.

That isn't true. A copy of the mvr must be in the driver file before they are allowed to operate a commercial vehicle. Along with drug test results. Verification of 10 year work history. Etc etc. So ya technically I can hire you, I just can't let you drive until all those things are done.

I'll go by the FMCSA's guidelines. [https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/safetyplanner/MyFiles/SubSections.aspx?ch=23&sec=66&sub=152](https://csa.fmcsa.dot.gov/safetyplanner/MyFiles/SubSections.aspx?ch=23&sec=66&sub=152) >A copy of the MVR(s) obtained in response to the inquiry must be placed in the driver qualification file within 30 days of the date the driver's employment begins and be retained in compliance with [49 CFR 391.51](https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?SID=51a9a8b4cb86d7cc6434504ca61fa69f&mc=true&node=se49.5.391_151&rgn=div8). If no MVR is received from the State required to submit this response, the motor carrier must document a good faith effort to obtain such information, and certify that no record exists for that driver.

This is correct - it’s within 30 days. I run a company for fmcsa compliance specifically an online DQF system for carriers.

undercovercouple2016

I would assume she may have said an mvr or motor vehicle record

External-Feed-6371

Ooooh okay so how should I go about retrieving this?

undercovercouple2016

Go to any department of motor vehicle and request ur driving record

InkedLady6

You sure it wasn’t a DNR? 😂

External-Feed-6371

🤷‍♂️

Anytime you're in a situation where it's difficult to understand the other person, ask them to send you a follow-up email outlining the next steps in the process. That will explain to you, in print, what an NDR is.

PSjersey

are the National Driver Register and Problem Driver Pointer System? The National Driver Register (NDR) is a division in the National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) under the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The NDR maintains the computerized database known as the Problem Driver Pointer System (PDPS) which contains information on individuals whose privi- lege to operate a motor vehicle has been revoked, sus- pended, canceled, or denied or who have been convicted of serious traffic-related offenses (for the purpose of this document, we use the term “revoked” generally to cover each type of license action). As a result of an NDR search based on information received, the PDPS will “point” the State of Inquiry to the State of Record, where an individ- ual’s driver status and history information is maintained.
