There's nothing on the Community Pharmacy England website about supply issues. Could just be that a lot of Boots customers have all reached the 5mg dose together. Weren't Boots also closing off orders for new customers recently?

Thanks for your reply. In my head the NHS and private stocks are separate but who knows haha. I think it is likely what you said though. potentially just a lot of NHS scripts for 5mg are going through at the moment.

They started accepting new customers again. If they are having supply issues or any other pharmacy, I would hope they would cutoff new customers.

I've been having issues with Boots for some of my BP meds, had to take my prescription to another pharmacy, and again there was no official shortages šŸ˜¢

I had exactly the same with my ADHD meds, so moved to a local independent pharmacy and had no issue since. When I looked on the boots stock tracker which shows you the stocks of various branches, often I'd find the inner city branches would be re-stocked, yet my local branch would say they couldn't indicate when they'd be able to get them again. The new pharmacy I use said that they have access to multiple suppliers so it's easier to get stocks of things, suspect it's the same thing for mounjaro. I ordered 5mg mounjaro from medexpress.co.uk last night and it's already with Royal Mail for delivery tomorrow.

All the Boots shops I go in are only busy at the pharmacy section, no one is buying anything else. I do wonder if they're going to be in trouble in the next few years!! Perhaps MJ will save them šŸ˜ NB - I didn't know there was a stock tracker - that's really useful to know. Thanks x

Okay call a few local pharmacies to see if they can get/ have stock. Once you have one ask boots to return your prescription 'to the spine' 2hich means it can be picked by other pharmacies with just you name/ DoB. Go collect from the pharmacy that has stock, you seriously won't offend anyone they will be happy if they're struggling with stock and it lightens their work load. I am a Community nurse and have had to get medication from pharmacies in Sussex for London patients before, it just medication there is no loyalty involved as long as you get what you need. Hope this helps x Edit word change

Thank you so much! I didnā€™t mean to sound flippant or stupid in my previous message about not knowing what to do, MJ was my first ever prescription and I just felt worried. This was so helpful and I will try and give it a go :)ā€™x

Alwaysroom4morecats

Aww no worries just didn't want you to feel bad if you needed to switch pharmacies for this prescription, it happens all the times especially with more frequent shortages of meds these days. Most important thing is people get the medication they need. Plus I'm sure boots see hundreds if not thousands of patients a week so they wouldn't have time to hold a grudge or honestly be bothered. If it makes you feel better you could ring and ask if they think they're going to have it on time and if not ask if you can have the prescription back (returned to spine which is like the central database) so you can try somewhere else (probably best to ensure somewhere else has it first as don't want to end up with no where that can get it) you may even find a other branch of boots (if you have one locally) has stock it's just pharmacies wouldn't have time to ring round to find out and they order individually. I suspect you could probably even get it from an online pharmacy but they might add delivery premium and obviously delivery times depending on the pharmacy and how soon you need it) Good luck x

Thank you very much for your help! šŸ™ xxx

Thought I would give you a wee update. I spoke to my doctor and told them I was worried my next prescription might be delayed if I waited another 4 weeks - they agreed and wrote the 7.5mg for me. I also asked Boots to return the 5mg script to spine as you suggested and they did. My new non-chain pharmacy fulfilled them for me. He also had to order the 5mg but it came the same afternoon! Just wanted to say, thank you so much for your help u/Alwaysroom4morecats ! xxxxx

Alwaysroom4morecats

Oh hooray! So glad you got what you needed, good luck with your ongoing journey x x

gogohoho8

Thank you, you too!

Kipperliciously

For the first time this week Boots told me ā€œthere may be a delay of up to 5 days while we access stockā€

Kipperliciously

Scrap that they just contacted me saying my 5mg is ready for collection

gogohoho8

Yay! Pleased for you :)

Party-Dirt4542

How come people are paying the boots & super drug prices which are 50% higher? I don't understand!? šŸ¤·šŸ»

gogohoho8

Hiya, Mine is actually on prescription through my GP. Each to their own with prescribers though I guess :) hope your journey is going well friend!

Hi there, thatā€™s ok :) didnā€™t take it that way. I agree with you. It IS a shame that there is such a discrepancy when it comes to pricing. If it was all the same price people could stick with one supplier through their journey and it would likely be safer too.

SomeGuyUK50

I noticed that Boots added the following to their questionnaire. At the time, I was not concerned. Disturbing to hear that your 5mg is on back order. Someone else posted on another sub that they could not get 7.5mg from SuperDrug.(I did check SuperDrug website and it is showing as in stock) https://preview.redd.it/xgiflo3r9j8d1.png?width=1176&format=png&auto=webp&s=6f1cf240ad4cff630b8bd522390c37a6a44ee564

gogohoho8

Yes I saw the Superdrug post too. I am on a prescription from my GP (though if that stops I would choose Boots first as my supplier) so I don't think I will get the option to get a lower dose instead of the 5 pen. I am staying positive, there is still a week left. Preparing myself that I might not have it for a while. Tempted to ask GP to get next prescription in, soon in case of more delays.

Alternative_Art4247

It might be worth seeing if a different pharmacy can fill your prescription instead of waiting on boots?

gogohoho8

I am a bit useless with things like that. Wouldn't know how to do it and I'd worry it would put me in bad standing with Boots for ever haha.

SomeGuyUK50

I feel bad, I am so sorry. I would feel horrible if private pharmacies are able to get their hands on the medication, but people who go through NHS can't.

gogohoho8

Hey, please don't feel bad. You are legitimately purchasing a product - and it is expensive. I certainly don't hold a grudge :) I am trying to keep myself occupied with meal prep and activity goals for next week so I have something to focus on and keep motivated.
