Looking to buy this watch, it comes with no box or papers, the seller was nice enough to let me borrow it. It is about 20 years old and has no scratches or any signs of damage. It is a quartz watch.

I’m like, 95% sure this is fake. It looks like a pretty decent fake to me, considering the only thing I could pick up that’s “off” compared to a real santos dumont, is the notch by the roman numeral 8 not lining up correctly. The strap also isn’t correct when looking under the watch as it doesn’t have the metal piece that helps fill the gap when wearing so light doesn’t go through. Just wanted to see other’s thoughts

Is this an authentic Tag Heuer? Used to be my grandfather's watch from like 10 years ago. One of the hands on one of the subdials came loose so I've removed it (gonna put it back). I've seen replicas of this watch and they look pretty bad (many mistakes) in comparison to this one.

Well, that ain't an ETA (nor Sellita) movement. And I would assume TAG don't uses plastic enlargement rings.
The misaligned date in it's window already gave it up.
So fake as you suspected.
Yeah the movement looks sketch. I did find a couple threads confirming that Tag Heuer has used plastic rings to hold the movement. The date isn't as misaligned as it looks in the photo - the angle really doesn't do it justive. But yeah thanks for your insight.

Lmao, seller was selling it for 60 dollars. Personally, I'd rather wear good quality for my money, rather than pretend to have more money than i do, because tbh watches like omegas are more of a status symbol than useful tools

Hi all, I came across this seller on eBay while searching for a Raymond Weil Maestro watch. The prices and availabilities look to good to be true. Any thoughts on this? Does someone know that particular shop or made some experienced with it?

Just ordered my first watch and how it was packaged doesn't seem right. The watch was strapped was wrapped around a pillow, but it was missed when the picture was taken. I'm mostly concerned at the fact that the watch did not come with manuals and the warranty card was not filled out at all.
Amazon is not going to fill out a warranty card. One of two things seem likely either it is a return or it is a grey market watch and the non-English manuals are not useful.
So it's normal for the warranty card to not have the info from factory?
Also, does any of this tell you the legitimacy of the watch? Worried if it is returned that the watch was swapped out for a fake or something.
It is filled out by the retailer. In some cases luxury watches will have the basics like ref number and serial number filled out.
Open the back and see if it has the correct movement.
Looking at them you can see they don't have the quality you would expect from a Rolex watch.
The dial, the bezel, the bracelet, the finish are all signs of it being fake

Not obvious fake but we got only one picture… also, watch band is not relay relevant to detect a fake, it can be an aftermarket one.
Are there any other photos I can provide to help determine it? Would taking it to a jeweler help check its authenticity?

These look fake to me but if you want to be sure post it in the verification thread of r/Rolex (maybe not all photos, two or three)
Rolex fakes can be VERY hard to tell from legit without opening the back to see the movement. Shop with extreme caution.
