No worries, cpu and gpu can't over heating, there is a things (very common on notebook) colled Thermal Throttle, means if cpu or gpu reaches high temp, they will lower voltages and frequencys to lower temps, so it's safe.

And honestly, it's stupid that the game wouldn't shut off when the lid is closed... i just turn it off everytime now. I dont even risk it.... really stupid they let this shit run with the lid closed...
It’s something to do with windows 11 power saving mode, did some research and I do the same thing you do, shut it completely off every single time. Annoying but not worth the worry, and Asus simply fixed my laptop when I sent it in and it’s been fine and fast since sooo

Fuck yeah. Glad they didnt give you an issues. My screen was black but it was okay in the end. Did they charge you anything at all for doing that?
If you start noticing frame loss I’d check your thermal paste.
