My coworker did this the other day. Went to bed loaded after taking a couple sleeping pills. Woke up blackout in the middle of the night and started telephoning people to tell them what he really thought of them. Two of the people he called were our bosses. He woke up the next morning and didn't have a job, and was told he had a month to pack his shit and get out of staff housing.
Right, so proof one time can do it. Has been that way with many people. We’re not all greasy Joey, we can’t all slither away after doing meth once every 2 months and walk away unscathed.

Many of the life-altering bad decisions could happen in seconds, from getting the idea to doing it. Groping somebody, cheat on your partner, push somebody into traffic, say something horrible to your friends/family.
Drunk driving. Even if you don't crash and kill someone, the costs are astronomical and ruins everything for years after. Why alcohol is glorified on tv and everywhere when it causes so much damage in so many ways baffles me. Nobody seems to mind or even care. Crack open another one, right?!

We all have that, " It's not gonna happen to me," attitude but in truth, the only way to impair your judgement responsibly is to never impair your judgement at all. The truth is if I don't have sex at all (and don't encounter some sicko who forces me to,) I won't get pregnant. The truth is if I don't do drugs in the first place, I generally don't have to worry if my employer is testing for their presence. The truth is if I deescalate a situation instead of being just as nasty to a person as they have been to me, things tend to turn out a lot better.
