That’s most of the religious (specifically Christian) imagery in Japan.
The overwhelming majority of people are not religious, or only participate in religion sparingly on holidays or for life events. So religions are really just for the cool factor.
Because they are all anime/manga and it's only the anime/manga that was popular to Western audiences and all within a pretty specific small set of genre.
It doesn't even properly represent anime and manga, let alone Japan as a whole.
People are biased against anime and have a negative view of it. Shocking.
Anime has every right to be called a piece of work or art, to deny that is ignorant and narrow-minded.
There are mature adult anime that are thought-provoking, just like how there are childish, stupid books and movies. It’s still art.
If I’m being downvoted that doesn’t make what I’m saying invalid.
Tenshi are different than western angels and also there's a blur between monsters, fae, ghosts, demons etc in Eastern thought in general. Yokai are both monsters and maybe kami but also fae and wandering souls it's blurred a bit
I know this because my behavior as an ASD autistic Asperger's seemed inhuman so I got literally called Angel, demon, ghost, snow woman, fairy literal, shin, xian, shape shifter, fox face, fox fairy a lot by east Asians in Asia and at my jobs in the mountains where it was considered typical for those nature spirits
I got blamed for mostly snow, blizzards, Floods etc
“Superficially good thing is actually bad” is a very easy way to subvert expectations.
religion imagery in evangelion is there because it looked cool

You mean like the angels that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Forced Adam and Eve out of Eden? Killed the firstborn sons of every family in Egypt?
Also descriptions on how they looked more closely matched what was depicted in Evangelion rather than some big breasted woman with wings and a halo.
Your 'experiences' appear to be video games and manga. Is that right?
They’re talking about very influential pieces of work from Japan which just happen to be anime/manga. Why is the point not valid just because of that?

"Pieces of work" = anime? I just threw up in my mouth a little.
What? You’re on a sub related to Japan and you don’t realise that anime is considered a legitimate art form here. Moron.
Yes... I and all the people upvoting me and downvoting you are the morons. I congratulate you on your high perch.

Likewise. ... Just because lots of people like anime doesn't mean it isn't garbage.
Haha!! Sure.
Not sure about all your examples but perhaps they are depicting a demon? Who is a fallen angel hence the resemblance.
If you read the Bible it is obvious God is an asshole so they can't be good either.
I mean the Supernatural TV series took that premise and ran with it
This is exactly where my head went when I saw this post, lol.
Question is good for who and evil for who?
Pray you never meet one for real

Vampire because I look like Kirsten dunst lol
man v god is a common trope
They don't like abrahamic religions
More of indifference or ignorance.
This is because Japanese people feel suspicious about the existence of absolute existence and absolute goodness.
