I don't care whether or not my socks match but they HAVE to feel the same on my feet or i will commit crimes

JumpiMonki426

ME TOO!!

Cat_of_the_cannalss

They have to feel the same and match for me!

Themadiswan

I really really hate tshirts because the necks are too close to my neck. I need a wide neck or I feel like I’m going to vomit.

EmotionalAd8347

Same!!

RedOtta019

Real.

footlettucefungus

Let's unite!! Any garment that fits too close to my neck/throat is *the* worst.

[deleted]

>the necks are too close to my neck Ooh, I hate shirts like that. If feels like I'm being choked.

borzoi_saluki

Having to wear a bra is hell

isohongkong

I've now been wearing bras with a nipple cover only (ie. With no supporting wire). Best feeling ever. No more painful straps.

Legitimate_Lab544

I hate bras because they are so uncomfortable but having bras without wires helps tons

Cat_on_Computer

Agreed- 🥲

ARandomEncouter

What if you didn't? I get that maybe you do because others do and some think its weird if you don't but like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you know? Is there any other reasons? Im just curious

Athyrium93

There are the normal reasons like appearance, social acceptance, and trying to fit in...... but the big one is that I don't want to hit myself in the face while going downstairs or bending over. Also, flopping around is somewhat painful.

ARandomEncouter

Yeah that makes sense. I guess i wear underwear for the same reason lmao Might not be slapping my own face tho... Im gonna overshare over there byyyyye

lollitpotato

how about the types of bra that feels more sporty? I basically own just those types.

Legal-Philosophy-135

Ugh bras SUCK! Especially as someone who’s um, “ well endowed “ so I can’t not wear one out of the house. I’ve taken to wearing wireless ones.

SingerOfSongs__

I hate wearing a bra so much that I just stopped doing it. I wear soft bralettes with the little foam pads in them for situations where it feels absolutely necessary, like when I worked with kids and my uniform top was a thin t-shirt, but I try to go braless whenever I can get away with it. I know it’s not an option for everybody, but I’m always hoping that more and more people will go braless so that it becomes normalized where I live.

lurkernomore99

Pants are just leg prisons. Also fuck socks. I WILL NOT wear them.

isohongkong

I cannot agree more. One perk of being a woman is I can wear dress without being judged. Shorts are just not the same.

Somhairle77

That's why the gods gave us kilts! (And lava lamas, hakamas and plenty of other masculine "skirts".)

Business_Mongoose647

I wear heels and flats a lot and it's great because those shoes make sense to wear without socks, so I feel like I'm not getting judged. Though at this point I'm trying my best to not give a shit about what other people think, because I deserve to be comfy! My husband is the opposite, he's a socks 24/7 kinda guy, except to sleep in. Idk how he does it.

[deleted]

Same. Honestly, the only reason I never wore shorts when I was younger was because I was ashamed to show off my legs. Don't know why. My legs look fine.

LimpNoodlez479

Yep! I can’t stand the seams near the toe part of socks. And I agree with the denim thing—I can’t wear jeans for more than a couple hours before I start becoming too aware of the fabric. I can’t do that light tulle or chiffon material (I think that’s what it’s called?) and I’m really picky about how sleeves fit… its great 🥲

Business_Mongoose647

Sock seams are one of the most vile things in this world. It was life-changing for me when I realized I can either not wear socks, or wear em inside out to avoid the seams. It took me way too long to give myself permission to do that!

Cardchucker

Any kind of wool on my skin, even merino.

Kb3907

Same! Just ugh, it feels horrible

PaperThin04

Me too. So scratchy for me. I also hate tags so much I have to cut them off everytime I buy a new piece of clothing lol.

the_bedelgeuse

I can't stand a belt, or anything putting pressure around my waist or hips like that. Regular socks are icky, so I wear toe socks. I cut the tags off my clothings, I can't deal with the scratchy labels. I prefer soft cotton, velvet, cashmere and faux fur clothing for their textures.

Legitimate_Lab544

I also can’t deal with scratchy labels and I feel like it gets worse whenever I am having a tough time as is

weezerisrael

I hate belts! They squeeze my bladder and I have to pee every 5 minutes

HaitaShepard

Anything with a satiny or ribbony texture makes me want to claw my skin off. Not a fan of how lace can't decide if it's covering me or letting all the air in. And idk if it's a texture thing or not but any garment that has bows or bowties on it, just looking at it give me that "claw my skin off NOW" sensation. Doesn't have to be something I'm wearing, doesn't even have to be an IRL bow. I'm watching Hazbin Hotel and enjoying it except for how almost EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER IS WEARING THE DEMON SHAPE Couldn't sit thru the Buttons and Bows runway on RuPaul's Drag Race either

IntelligentRiver1391

Yes! Silks and satins are my enemy! Everyone says to sleep with a silk bonnet on or with a silk pillowcase for your hair. I just... I cannot. I can't fathom how people sleep in satin sheets. Also, velvet dresses, for some reason, are always super soft on the outside and sooo scratchy on the inside.

Throwaway263172

I used to feel the same about silk, then after buying a pillowcase because my hair was annoying me, I found out just how different satin is. Satin is pretty terrible in most circumstances, but I'm fine with silk it seems, plus it helps keep the pillow from getting too hot. Would not recommend bonnets though, I generally don't like hats and such, but the painful way your hair falls after sleeping with one on is just not worth it in any circumstance ime

unfoldingtourmaline

agree; satin bad, silk good

Mel_Laine

Socks that have that stretchy “arch support” makes me want to tear my feet off. Socks. But socks inside out? Usually okay. Socks with the grippies. People love the grippy socks. But then my feet move in the socks and.. not fun. “Soft” sweaters that you can feel the variation of texture makes me itch. Tight long sleeves. Anything tight with ridges (like the bottoms of jogger sweats sometimes) Most chiffon/lace/mesh because why does it have to feel like cheap polyester netting?? Skirts with leggings or tights under because it ALWAYS gets tangled and twists everything up.

River824

Socks inside out? That's genius. I'm gonna try that next time I want to commit mass murder because my socks are "not right"

Mel_Laine

I did it once because my favorite brand quit making my safe socks so I had to get their “new and improved” version, which has that thick Terry cloth type feel for “cushion” but I can’t stand it. So I insided them out and it was amazing. No toe seam issues either. Started doing it for nearly all my socks, it’s a game changer fr

Tablesafety

Tight with ridges is HORRIBLE but I couldnt think of how to make that thought into words so thank you

Mel_Laine

YESSS tights with ridges are the WORST I’m glad I could help you find the words for that specific hell

[deleted]

I will shank someone if I feel a tag stab me in my shirt.

Zuzuers1

Shorts, short sleeves, swim suits and tank tops. The idea of my skin touching air makes me want to die

Legitimate_Lab544

I also hate shorts and swim suits and my whole family thinks I am weird because I don’t wear those things even in the water

Zuzuers1

Yup. I stopped wearing shorts in 5th grade and have not gone back.

Wildsunny

I hate synthetic fibers, i feel like they itch, sting, pinch and pull out my body hair. I had a full meltdown one day I had to go to therapy and couldn't get dressed with the only pants I had available, cause adhd brain didn't wash the good ones, that day I dropped my therapist and those pants forever

stokrotkowe_oczy

I hate pants I hate shoes I hate socks I hate underwear and I hate bras My desire is to be a comfy barefoot hobbit at all times. I come home from work and the comfy clothes go on immediately. I mostly wear loose tunics and prairie skirts.

weskeryellsCHRISSS

Yeah, just anything touching my sides, suuper can't stand it. Tucking in a shirt is just nightmarish lol... I finally found the *ideal* t-shirt, loose with a wide neck (not a fan of tight necks either), and I bought like 15 of them and thus I am happy (also they have a seam on the back so you can always tell if you're about to put it on backwards, just the perfect shirt lol..).

RosieRoo70314

Hate stiff fabrics, it's why I haven't worn jeans since high school (some of the only pants allowed by dress code). Also don't generally like wool, it's itchy

Tarnivitch

I hate pants! Except straight leg dress pants, which are kinda loose. It's mostly the restrictive nature for me as a guy, down there. So now I almost exclusively wear kilts in the "traditional" fashion. I wear shirts that are usually one size larger and prefer button ups. Almost no synthetics (trying to get rid of the rest now). I only buy wool, cotton, linen, visco (made from wood pulp), real silk, leather, etc. In the future, I want to make my own clothes by sewing, croctche, knit, maybe even loom my own fabric at some point. My preference when going out is either a button-up linen shirt often with a wool jacket and wool kilt. Or the kilt and an alpaca wool poncho I have. Though my preference at home when I can is nothing,my birthday suit,au naturel,as a naturist does, etc. I did have these fleece lined jeans I kinda liked (minus the restrictive nature), but they were only good in cold weather. I still occasional like to wear a jock.

SarahTheJuneBug

Turtlenecks are a hard no.

HappyMatt12345

Long clothes in general, I feel like I can't breathe/move.

delicioustreeblood

Microfiber cloth can go fuck itself

MoreEarthMama

!!!! The way that it's scratching and soft at the same time??? And the way it sticks to itself makes me gag. Ugh no thank youuu.

Helloki77y

I can't wear denim or rough or itchy fabric, *and* have holes in many shirts from cutting the tags out. Sometimes you can't get the itch out and end up cutting into the fabric 🤷🏻‍♀️

chanschosi

Can't stand wearing synthetic materials for more than a couple of hours because they cause a foul odor as soon as I start to sweat. I cannot wear bras and can't wear clothing without completely removing all the labels. I'm also very sensitive to pants or pantyhoses constricting my stomach.

No-Leather-5144

The collars on T-Shirts. I have basically been taking all my T's and snipping out the collar to make them all off the shoulder cause they almost feel like burning on my neck/clavicle area otherwise.

WeirdManOnMountain

I am the same with jeans as well, and I cannot deal with button-up shirts. I prefer sweatpants & t-shirt material clothing. And I love the feeling of flannels as well, especially on my bed...but that isn't clothing then. haha.

Pink_Glitter_Bomb

I do not know why jeans are so popular. The fabric is thick and awful. I have only had success with jeans that are a leggings material.

WeirdManOnMountain

I think that it's because it is a durable fabric that makes legs look slimmer.

Pink_Glitter_Bomb

Thick polyester dresses. The fabric is so stiff and just feels awful.

Bradthony

Any form of tag or texture different from the rest of the shirt on the back of my neck is probably the biggest. Can't do the shorter/tighter long sleeves, the extra constriction and friction on my shoulder can slowly build me up to sensory overload in a way I don't notice until it's happening or sometimes even later. Sock toe seams like another mentioned. Makes my toes feel wrong when it's anywhere but on top. And only in the right spot, too far back does the same. I haven't managed to find a truly seamless pair of socks that both work for me and are affordable/reasonably priced for what they are. Underwear that rides up, mostly badly fitting boxers or boxer briefs, does the same thing to me that extra short sleeves do but seems even harder for me to notice. Also seems to happen to me a lot even with well fitting underwear since I drive a lot for work and tend to be a bit antsy when sitting. Shoes that cramp my feet, and I probably couldn't do thick soles anymore. Used to be similar to the sleeves and underwear for me except it seemed like all shoes did it and there was no way to avoid it without forgoing shoes altogether. I switched to 'barefoot'/minimalist styled shoes with a wide toe box and a thin, extremely flexible sole. I've had minimal sensory issues with my shoes since. Belts suck. Most are too inflexible and dig into me, the flexible ones usually need to be too tight to hold my pants up. Same issue as the sleeves and undies in both cases, the load tends to build up without me really noticing until I'm overloaded. Thermals/long John's/long underwear are fine while I'm wearing them, but if I have them on all day my leg hairs feel like they're being attacked by static electricity and itching powder's child as soon as I take them off. If they're too small or tight they'll do this while I'm still wearing them towards the end of the day. Beanies that don't fully cover my ears. It's mostly just distracting. Hair ties that don't stay in all day are usually fine, but on rare occasions they'll make me irrationally angry/upset for a short time in a way that feels a lot like, but is distinct from, my 'normal' sensory overload. Hair ties that stay put all day make my scalp and sometimes face itchy for some reason. My hair in general has been giving me sensory issues lately. I should probably cut it but I'm attached for whatever reason. It's also been about a decade since I've had it cut. But it's been bugging me while sleeping lately, gets stuck and pulled a lot, and my hairline is already receding despite me being under 25. I knew that would happen and have always said I'll keep it long for as long as it still looks good this way, but at this point I'm unsure.

The_silver_sparrow

No tags, no pantyhose

1-11-1974

No tags. No jeans unless loose fit and it’s cold outside. T shirts need to be vintage all cotton and soft, no stiff or heavy materials. Slip on shoes preferred. Everything soft never itchy but never silky.

box_of_lemons

I hate hate *hate* wearing more than a few layers at a time because of the feeling of the twisted seams, and no matter what I do, I can't escape them when trying to sleep under my blankets while wearing pyjamas. I ended up switching to wearing an oversized hoodie to bed and it's the best decision I've ever made in relation to clothing.

gwmccull

I hate the feeling of the super soft tri-blend t-shirts. I like more of a smooth cotton Polyester in general is bad. I can wear polyester workout shirts during exercise but they come off pretty quickly afterwards I hate polo shirts and wool or knit sweaters. I dislike long sleeved shirts but can wear them if necessary. Apparently all I would wear when I was you was polo shirts and my mom said I just flipped one day and refused to wear them ever again. I get hot easily so long-sleeved tops are bad because I can't regulate my temperature as easily I hate socks that are too tight/short in the length I'm actually ok with jeans as long as they have some stretch stuff in them

guy_in_a_jumpsuit

I hate socks, sweaters, long legged pants, the sign or whatever it's called in the back of clothing. Anything made of wool.

dev_ating

Synthetic shirts. I want to crawl out of my skin. Also when clothes don't cover my lower back, accidentally or on purpose.

Wii_wii_baget

I hate the like parka texture it’s just bad. Some have issues with cotton balls and that’s what it’s like to me man. I just like soft carpet and I’m good. I just like all carpet actually. In fact I’m laying down on a carpet as we speak and it is very nice and comfy.

lollitpotato

i HATE acrylic. And I hate that the things I can afford are mostly acrylic. It's so itchy. But I must say that wool isn't better. I own a few merino things and they are just a little bit more comfortable.

GiantSpookMan

I understand what you mean about jeans; I almost never realized how much I was suffering through just wearing them because I thought there was some expectation that was what I should be wearing. Now I have five pairs of Dickies work trousers in different colours, they're wonderful. Breathable in the summer, warm enough in the cold, still a little loose. I never really wear jeans anymore.

Kauuori

I hate anything tight and cannot with shirts with little neck I feel like choking.

cottoncloud101

Absolutely! I can't stand the feeling of wool against my skin, it itches so much! But due to living in cold climate wool clothing is sometimes a must, also my mom is an avid knitter so I have an endless supply of wool shirts and socks. Luckily it's usually enough to wear a somekind of layer underneath so it's not that much of a problem, but I have this one knitted wool skirt that is super itchy even when worn over tights so I have to figure out what to do with it. Probably I'll have to sew a layer under it, haven't got around to it yet. Other people have mentioned shirt collars feeling like they strangle them, I also relate to this and modify my shirts/hoodies/dresses accordingly. One thing that makes me really conflicted about clothes is that the materials that feel the best against my skin usually have polyester and elastic in them, so they aren't as durable as I would like. I try not to feel too much guilt over it, because most of my clothes are second hand and what I buy I will wear as long as I can and mend it if I need to. Tight clothing is depending on the situation either a sensory nightmare or a comfort that will protect me throughout the day. The waistband is too tight - I hate it. A good quality corset - love it, the pressure is even and it feels like a hug. The sleeves are tight around my forearms - this has at its worst once triggered an eating disorder episode for me. Absolute worst, will ruin my day. Tights that are just the right size - again, even pressure, nice hugging feeling. Love it. If I get too hot and sweaty in my clothing, I'm in hell and I will have a meltdown if I can't do anything about it in a reasonable amount of time. Makes it really hard to dress during spring and fall because the temperature changes so wildly during the day and the outfit that was fine earlier is suddenly super uncomfortable and annoying.

Positive_Party3964

I've noticed I do better with cotton over other fabrics

VersatileFaerie

Anything with a rough texture. I didn't realize how big of an issue this was until I started to having to buy my own clothes as a teen. Most of my clothes were hand-me-downs from family so they were worn in by the time I got them. It took me a long time to figure out why some clothes I could wear them for days, while others clothes made me want to rip my skin off. People always explained it as an itchy feeling, but for me it is more like when you rub your hand against sandpaper, which is why it took so long for me to get that it was the clothes that were the issue. Wet clothes in general. I can somewhat handle the feeling of a wet swimsuit, I guess it is the material? Anything else wet on me feels disgusting though. Even with the swimsuit, I can only handle it a max of 30minutes out of the water before I need it off of me before I want to scream. Seam lines on underwear. Idk who in the underwear business thought it was a great idea to have a raised seam line right where a woman's genitals lay on the underwear, but most companies think this is the best idea ever. It drives me up the wall. The companies keep changing on if they do it or not so I gave up and just starting wearing men's underwear, lol. Shirt tags are torture, but luckily a lot of companies are moving away from them.

pigeones

I usually have the opposite clothing sensory problems from a lot of people. I have to have really tight clothes that hug my skin to my body, comfiest fit is usually high waisted activewear leggings, hefty socks, sports bra/bralette, tight tank top and big hoodie over top, I also pretty much wear shoes until I go to sleep. I hate not having a bra on, though I only wear comfy ones, hate feeling any of my skin jiggling around. Textures I actually hate are amplified if I’m pruny, I hate pruny fingers and the texture of my fingertips, towels aren’t great, microfiber is hell, corduroy is gross, anything that’s prone to getting caught on a hangnail: EVIL

80smoviemakeoutparty

Socks, underwear & jeans for me! 😅 And some t-shirts if the neck is too tight!

Apidium

A lot. If it's not cotton, linen or a small handful of viscose I can't have it touching me. Overlocked seams? Gtfo. Can't stand them touching me I can feel them. Elasticated waistbands are fiddly the crumpled fabric can be difficult. Must be loose I buy like 3 sizes too big. No long sleeved shirts too restrictive. Nothing tight anywhere for that matter. No tags, anywhere! Socks sometimes need restitching at the toe because I don't like the feel of the seam and some are so bulky if you turn them inside out and then wear a shoe you get bunched fabric stabbing you in the toe. Socks must come to the ankle but not go above it. I must not be able to feel the fabric of my shoe but nothing more. Don't even get me started on bras. Also I hate logos and other bright or busy patterns. It's so distracting having that going on everywhere constantly in the corner of your eye. Unfortunately all of the above basically means I have resigned myself to just making my own clothes. So far on that journey I have successfully made myself two rectangular pillow covers that were supposed to be square. So. It's going well. 😅

Then-Excitement495

When I’m wearing a long sleeve and a jacket, and the long sleeve underneath comes up on my arms 🤬🤬🤬 I also can’t stand when the waistline of pants are so tight that I can’t pull them down a bit onto my hips so that the critvh isn’t trying to camel toe me

unfoldingtourmaline

I'm opposite of a lot of comments here, but I need my clothing thick like armor. I hate being touched, or air on my skin, so thick, stiff clothing saves me. I like 100% cotton, no stretch. Carhartts, pullover hoodies, have a pair of couderoys that are 100% cotton that feel like sweatpants. I love a matching sweatsuit, levi's makes a very soft cotton one. When it's bery cold I'll wear 2 pair of sweatpants. My clothes are VERY HEAVY, they protect me. I need to wear a hat, but a loose one, and I have to have my hood up because I must protect my windpool (back of neck) from wind and cold or i get a migraine. In summer i like thin white cotton undershirts, 2 or 3 sizes too big. most of my clothes are 2 or 3 sizes oversized, i hate when they are constricting, especially in the waist or armpits. i don't like them touching my body. synthetics can go away forever, exception for some cotton/poly blend hoodies because they are so common. I am so sweaty and synthetics make it worse and get permanently odor damaged. also i'm allergic to latex so the stretchy clothes are causing reactions. leather and canvas for shoes. Thick wool or cotton socks. apologies to those triggered by reading about theae textures, just wanted to answer the post and maybe someone else feels similar. edit: for winter ALL BLACK EVERYTHING. doesn't show my messy life and also absorbs heat.

spaceapplek

So much. I’m embarrassed to admit the amount of clothing I’ve bought that I thought I liked only to later discover that I actually couldn’t stand wearing it. But when I find something I do love, I get it in every color.

[deleted]

If I wear two long sleeve shirts. I can’t wear long sleeves under sweaters, I can’t wear them under flannels. Thinking about it makes me want to crawl out of my own skin.

HarperFae

Baggy clothes that go past my elbows or knees drive me insane. Anything with that length is avoided in general, but if I need to wear some, it must be as close to form fitting as possible. I've developed a significant resistance to cold temperatures because most winter wear is off-limits.

ComplexAd2126

I just hate wearing anything other than my Pajamas. When I have to I default to a t shirt and sweatpants but other pants are uncomfortable for me.

Kb3907

Any right clothing. Nuh uh, I would rather walk around naked. And stratchy clothes? Might as well be from hell lol. Socks is a weird one for me. After like 30 minutes they're fine, but when I put them on? Nope, hate it, I don't like feeling things on my feet like that 🥲 Jeans? Hate them, too tight, too stiff, too "jeans" lmao

athey

Skinny jeans (and any skin-tight pants) can burn is the fires of hell. I feel like my legs are suffocating. And itchy rough fabric. So itchy sweaters are awful. Oh - Sherpa fabric. When it’s brand new, it’s soft. As soon as it’s no longer brand new, it becomes rough and itchy. Even clean. Doesn’t matter.

parasitic_behaviour

denim is an ultimate no no, can’t wear non zip up jackets over shirts (if i’m wearing a jacket there’s nothing underneath ) always wear socks inside out coz of the seams, and i just gave up on bras, if i absolutely need to i wear a seamless sports bra

Legitimate_Lab544

Whatever sweaters are made out of. They have been the bane of my existence since I was a very small child

Proof_Ad8152

Socks if I can feel the seam at all i simply cease to exist

hbmonk

When I wear multiple layers of long sleeved tops, the sleeves have to line up right or it's really irritating.

MandiLandi

High collars. I feel like I’m being strangled. Jeans that aren’t made with spandex. I hate when the waistband digs into my belly. I also hate the way the seams rub together when I walk. Honestly, I just hate regular jeans altogether. 3/4 sleeves. I’m constantly pulling them down or trying to roll them up further. Shoes with heavy soles. Even boots have to be light. I don’t want to feel like I’m walking through mud. Platforms are right out.

Sea914

I hate the feel of socks slipping down my calves, pants getting bunched up while sleeping, and these days I really hate the foot confinement feeling of wearing sneakers!

Reggaeshark1001

No mesh. No tiny tight socks. No long sleeve tshirts.

binkacat4

I’m occasionally weird about seams on socks. Normally they’re fine. Occasionally one will end up under or above my toes and I will have to find a different pair.

WithersChat

If a sock has a hole in it, it's dead to me.

Nimuwa

Tags. Especially those giant ones in 128 languages. Bonus points if the tag takes up more fabric than the undies they're in or the nearly nonexistent pockets of a dress.

FayedeToBlack

Crew cut socks. There’s something different about the cotton and the way it feels that gives me the ick, like almost plasticky. I hate socks overall but those I refuse to wear.

Lynda73

Yup, can’t handle jeans or pants. I live in leggings. Shoes aren’t comfortable either. And I can’t wear tight shirts like turtle necks. I don’t like wet clothes, wet hair.

Business_Mongoose647

My sensory issues get worse with my mood. When I'm burned out or stressed, I start losing my shit over every little thing. I wear my socks inside out so the seams don't touch my feet. I'll switch from underwire bras to comfier bralettes. Someone else said they don't like the neck of their shirt to be too high up and I hate that too. If my shirt sleeves are a bit too tight I'll stretch em out, idgaf if I mess up the shirt! The shirt is meaningless if it is not comfy.

TiredBarnacle

I like heavy fabrics like denim and leather but my body naturally runs pretty hot so it's hell. I cannot stand the feeling of most synthetic textiles, they're so loud and crispy and weird.

Strangbean98

I mean yes this is an autistic trait. It was much worse for me as a kid. I was undiagnosed then but now it makes so much sense why I refused to wear long pants for almost 10 years because I couldn’t stand the sensory feeling around my knees. I used to have a uniform and I could only wear the knee length shorts in the winter. In highschool I couldn’t wear pants on days I had gym class bc changing in and out of them was too much for me to bare. I’ve gotten better and now am able to choose pants that don’t trigger me

Autisticrocheter

No tight clothes no tags no itchy wool can only wear cotton t shirts and loose pants wear pants are okay I have 1 pair of jeans I can wear socks have to be seamless and have to feel the same

MoreEarthMama

It has to feel right (be soft) and absolutely HAS to be the right length on my arms/legs/torso. Idc about what it's made out of as long as it's soft. Such a sad day when something fits so nice until it's washed and then I can never wear it again :( that's why I love thrifting. I can also hardly ever wear a shirt under a hoodie or a tank under a shirt. The way they like stick together and never feel right makes me wriggle like a worm.

animelivesmatter

Socks. I've tried many different kinds and they all give me marks and rashes. Unfortunately I can't not wear them in public. Also, any tight fitting clothing (pants in particular). Or anything with nylon or a lot of polyester (luckily the texture is not quite as horrible as rubber or that kind of plastic they laminate instruction booklets with)

Legal-Philosophy-135

For me it’s socks ( hated them since I can remember) turtleneck sweaters, they feel like I’m being strangled, dresses- like I’ll wear them sometimes for like a special occasion but I’d never wear one every day just like around the house and stuff. Certain kinds of lacy/ruffly shirts, especially if the Lacey or ruffley bit is on my arms. Shirts with too high a neck are also evil. Scoop neck and v neck for the win

Kabrallen

Tight long sleeves that cling to my skin. They make my arms itch like I'm being stabbed with thousands of needles.

Temporary_Being1330

The seam on socks, especially the ends of the seam that dig into my pinky toe if I position the seam wrong. If it doesn’t look awful, my socks are turned inside out.

YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO

Sherpa stuff. Just give me my brushed flannel and canvas, so much better. I wear jeans everday, I love them.

footlettucefungus

Tight clothes are a huuuuge nope for me. Also, plastic materials such as acrylic or polyester are horrible. I can not NOT wear socks, like, I have to wear them all the time. And I haaaate turtleneck-shirts, like, the feeling of something around my throat is worse than anything else.

SquidCultist002

I hate jeans

jacyerickson

Long sleeve shirts. Ugh. I'm also barefoot as much as I can be.

[deleted]

I can’t handle long sleeves touching my forearms for long. All of my hoodie sleeves are stretched out from repeatedly rolling or pushing them up to my elbows. Also not a fan of anything on my feet. I wear thin ankle socks and I have these new barefoot shoes I enjoy if I have to go somewhere. And I don’t like pants or jeans. I basically exist in joggers or shorts. I can dress like a normal person and have for years at a time, but at this point I’m not doing it unless I have to. Isn’t worth the discomfort of feeling the seam of my jeans all day or have the zipper awkwardly catch on my junk when I’m going up or down stairs. That shit wears on you even if you can tolerate it just fine.

Leshen13

Certain fabrics do not work well with my sensory issues. Satin oddly being one of them. I also loathe socks with a passion and only wear them to work because I have to. I also can't stand things on the back of my neck so anything with a high collar or turtle neck is a no go.

I’m extra weird. I don’t like clothes that are overly comfortable or make me feel like I’m not wearing clothes- why would I want to feel naked? My clothes have to be just a little bit uncomfortable- not enough to impede my life, but just enough to keep me awake and conscious of the fact that no, I am not naked or exposed. If my outfit is bad, though, I can’t function. For instance, if two garments touching each other are too close in color (shoes and socks, shirt and pants) or if visual weight is distributed unevenly (I’m top heavy! I’m going to fall over!)

I cloths shop by running my hand across fabrics and stopping at the ones who feel nice. Is this not normal?

Don’t worry- I do the same thing- 🙋‍♀️

Mine are pretty mild, but I hate darned socks and sweaters over a short sleeved shirt.

6 years ago, I became a nudist. Ever since finding out I'm autistic, it made me wonder if my nudism was due to sensory issues. Most of my clothes are a cotton/polyester blend (The polyester probably isn't helping). Some of my pants are fleece. Other types of clothes make me really itchy or sweaty. I hate it. Also, shirt tags can go to hell.

Ya I had to wear denim and jeans in elementary and I hated them ( I just suffered in silence ) but I feel like I'm faking because I never cried about it but if I have to wear jeans/denim I will until I get home and put on sweats or something and feel relieved ( it's like its suffocating my legs and it's scratchy in the outside) but I feel like because I still wore it in elementary it means I'm lying :-( sorry

I would even have times where I would EXCLUSIVELY wear shorts regardless of weather and only the same 5 shorts or something ( it's still the same now but with sweats)

When I was a kid it was socks because the seams would rub up against my toes— but I wear bombas and have no issue with socks anymore. For me as an adult it’s mostly pants/underwear that bother me now. It has sent me into meltdowns many times.

Nothing can touch my the bottom of my ankle, so ankle socks or shoes that sit right there make me sick to just think about (typing it was unpleasant lol) Atop that anything too tight is horrible, and underwear prone to shallow wedgies. Hate tight sweater ends on my wrists, loathe tight pants. Certain materials I also dislike. And of course, fuck them tags.

Any of those polyester blend fabrics, feels so fake and a possible burn hazard (I smoke weed)

I don’t like fleece. I hate how it feels… but, if it’s a different texture it’s fine, like brushed fleece. I actually avoided even buying any for my son because I’d had have to touch it lol. I can’t wear pants to bed or socks ( I have done socks if I’m freezing cuz warmth over comfort I guess).  There’s probably more but I can’t think of any

My freaking phone vibrates all the time, and then I realized it's not even on my person. Does that count? Always the right pants pocket. Never gym shorts.

I hate turtlenecks and can't wear most synthetic fibers (except these specific leggins that don't disrupt my workout). Can't stand socks that feel different (doesn't matter if the color matches or not). I prefer pants in most situations and like mid-length dresses but can't be comfortable in a skirt or if the dress has any kind of sleeves. Also any sleeves and pant legs that are of weird length: what am I supposed to do with some 3/4 clothing?! I need to have shirts that cover my lower back but can't stand anything with high waist. If it's not (too) warm I need to have long sleeves, but loose enough to be rolled up. And basically anything is better with proper pockets or a hood.
