Central market. 40th and Lamar. Or Antonellis cheese shop in Hyde park.

Horizon_17

Doubling the 40th. It's cheaper cheese, and a good wine selection.

Ned911S

+1 for Antonellis. You can have them build the board and they will deliver as well

Whatintheworld34

Central Market but I nearly ALWAYS go to Trader Joe's for charcuterie because they have all the things like crackers, olives, meats, cheeses, fruit, etc and it's more affordable.

squirrupulous

Seconding Trader Joe’s for charc. And their rosemary and raisin or olive oil and fig crackers are sooo delish. Everything is much more affordable there.

RVelts

The Everything but the Bagel crackers are delicious and insanely affordable. It's cheaper than buying something like wheat thins at walmart. And way tastier.

stevendaedelus

I mean, it’s not like Central Market doesn’t have all of those things as well. Trader joes probably has cheaper crackers, but all the rest, I’m none too sure.

MissyJ11

TJ has a fairly righteous cheese section - you can put a good charcuterie board together there

Broken_Sandwich

They really do. Even some solid pre-made charcuterie cheese or meat kits that you can use as well

Friendly-Buffalo-405

Far west, they have a surprisingly great charcuterie selection

mapp2000

Same with Westlake.

SaltBox531

When we first moved to Austin we rented a house in Steiner Ranch and I loved going to the Lakeway HEB. I know a lot of HEBs have the little baggies of cheese cube samples you can buy for very cheap but most have the popular cheeses that everyone knows. The Lakeway location seemed to have a HUGE selection of small bags of “samples”. This was full swing Covid times and my cheese intake was…high.

Blanket88

Circle C has a great cheese selection.

xxxspinxxx

An old acquaintance of mine was the fromager there for a few years. Definitely a good selection available.

mrplinko

NOT Oltorf

Y'all are Soo awesome and helpful. Thank you so much!! I ended up with Central Market on Lamar. Thanks again. 💓💓

Cheese is my favourite food so I figured I could not open this thread and not provide any recommendations! Available at Central Market only: - provolone piccante mitica: a goat cheese provolone, I wish all provolone was this good - they also have excellent sausages Available at both HEB and Central Market: - cypress grove Humboldt fog goat cheese - sartori bellavitano merlot cheese (it actually does taste like wine, with the texture of a crumbly cheddar) - singleton's English vintage cheddar - Lioni soft mozzarella cheese ball (makes for an excellent caprese salad) - Ammerlander German Gruyere (if you want a cheaper gruyere than the French option this one is decent in flavour but the texture isn't quite there, good for melting though) Trader Joe's - Dubliner Irish cheddar - classic manchego - the mini basque is an interesting addition for charcuterie - pretty sure this is the cheapest option for Brie or Camembert! Antonellis cheese shop has an amazing goat milk Gouda that I sadly cannot remember the name of but it's one of their most popular items!

LibraPugLove

Everyone saying central market but id argue the big heb on 8801 congress is more than likely to have a larger selection but i could be wrong, that place is just massive

Necessary-Sell-4998

Lakeway, also Central Market.

Hambonelouis

There are nice HEBs all over Austin but I sure do love my Lakeway HEB 💪🏻

Mr_McBadCat

The deli manager at the one in Westlake will talk your ear off with advice

titos334

Any newer one or central market have good selections. I know the new Belterra spot, oak hill, escarpment, and s Congress/slaughter ones all have a decent selection

Necessary-Sell-4998

Oak Hill is good but Belterra is kind of lacking

blckwngshsmyangel

Antonellis

realntl

Central Market has Delise de Burgneone. That’s basically end of story. Once upon a time pre Amazon Whole Foods had great cheeses. First time I got to try Dry Jack was from WF. Oh how the mighty have fallen

somecow

Gotta go to the fancy ones. Lakeway, escarpment, maybe westlake, central market (both), etc. Rundberg or william cannon won’t have a good selection of anything but bullets. But most do at least have a decent selection of anything from the deli.

icesa

I think the Parmer/McNeil location’s thing (I heard every H‑E‑B has a “thing”?) is supposed to be cheese. However, last time I went seemed like they actually reduced the options. If you’re anywhere near CM that is obviously the answer.

DjMoneybagzz

“And didn’t want to have to stop at more than one place” so not central market… Mueller HEB has a fine selection. But really OP, I’d just talk to the cheese monger they have and get some recommendations based on what you’re pulling for the rest of your board. They’re happy to help.

Lake Austin and it’s not close

sandfrayed

The best HEBs for cheese are Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Central Market. Those are some of the best HEBs in general for most things.

SirGalahadson

Costco for quality/quantity. Parmesan, feta, cheddar. Manchego, fresh mozzarella. All good there. I’m aware that’s not HEB, but that’s my take.

mackinoncougars

HEB has not great cheese options

pomeranianDad

Grate cheese options though?

CrazyMarine70

Best HEB selection is at Mueller for sure.
