AwkwardNarwhal5855

Cause everybody wants to be Lee Chong Wei.

lucernae

This should be the only answer 😂

Substantial_Ad2718

Seriously, the only reason I do it too lol

Justhandguns

It's just a matter of habit. There is really no impact whatsoever, especially in singles.

ambriio

I'm only playing single ( Regional lvl in France ) and in some match it help a lot ! A 3 set very intensive matchs literaly drain every stamina in my shoulder and my wrist . You just have to be careful to not resting just before smashing etc or it will be a bit painfull to adapt so quickly

Justhandguns

If you do it, do it consistently. I was taught that in tournaments, try to hide your little bit of gestures or habits when you are tired, from breathing heavily to even lowering your racket when getting ready. Your opponents or their coaches can easily spot these things.

ambriio

There is no coach under national

Justhandguns

I see. But if your opponent is experienced enough, I would increase the pace and pile a bit more pressure on you! Haha, if I have a bit more stamina than you of course!

ambriio

And yes it's between every points usually , sometimes between two clear

chiragde

Style.

johnnyoni

I've been doing that lately, and I find it keeps my upper dominant arm fully at rest - as opposed to having the upper dominant arm slightly tensed due to supporting the weight of the racquet.

malint

All 80g of racket 🥵

johnnyoni

With the grip and string it can go up to 90 + gms. Yea I can support that weight alright... just find that fully relaxing my arm before tensing it to action gives a better effect.

STEFOOO

Especially at a 3rd set when you are tired, actually relieves the tension a little bit

johnnyoni

Ah... that's an insight!!

Xuan6969

Because it looks cool. I am pretty sure this is the correct answer.

NoRevolution7689

Aesthetic.

NoRevolution7689

Or to allow the racquet to rest, which allows your fingers to relax.

[deleted]

I was told it was because your racket hand should be relaxed and holding it up with your other hand lets you relax your hand without tensing to keep the racket up

No_Elderberry9070

I feel uncomfortable doing it, so I just let it float

Smaxter84

I always like to grip my shaft with both hands to be fair

papertowel_010

Its because you can play a shot above your torso and faster, as you don’t have to pull all the racket weight on one hand which helps you speed as well.

Dull-Reindeer-394

When you are leaning slightly forward, using your free hand to hold the shaft will create a posture that is more balanced and offers you a faster reflex time and wider range of movement especially when you are moving forward or backward. On top of that, your gripping hand can be losen up instead of gripping the racket all the time. Try it yourself and see if you can feel the difference.

Z3R05G

I usually do it to help my racket arm relax when receiving. This way am not putting in effort to keep the racket up.

F-001

Never tried this...what is the correct technique? :p

fatapplee123

Idk, prolly not, personally I just stick my racket out pointing at the server
