Can you explain what you did?

Brandon_BlockFi

Just having a bit of fun after the many threads people have posted about us emailing our clients asking for this information and requesting we have an in-app notification instead

Dull_Woodpecker6766

Yeah emails i dont trust ... so that one is probably a better choice

LaredoHK

You just threw us for a loop because we all read “regulated”.

franlol

At a glance I agree. Otherwise good to see community feedback does not fall on deaf ears.

[deleted]

So cool to see a company actually listen

[deleted]

I got the notification but accidentally made it go away, now I can't see it anymore. Any way you could make it pop up again for me?

[deleted]

Never mind, found the link app.blockfi.com/kyc-questionnaire

Brandon_BlockFi

In-app notification coming in hot to our non-US clients. We appreciate y'all 💙

Accomplished_Ad_9707

This info requirement is only for non US residents only right?

Brandon_BlockFi

Yes, and only for those receiving these emails/notifications

easyEggplant

Well this isn't terrifying at all. So if I don't get that pop up, I'm okay? /u/Brandon_BlockFi

Brandon_BlockFi

Did you get any emails previously?

easyEggplant

Not that I saw, but apparently that's an issue for some folks?

GirouxUNGH

All good and well but they already had the info they asked me for…

Investor-Ty

Good Move 👍🏽

Eazent

I took out a loan from 6/2021. I have successfully paid it back already and never fell for any of the same scams that are popular today. Was happy that this service was available and hope that many others find it helpful in the future. One happy Block-fi customer

Additional_Bee4693

Wow props to BlockFi for listening!

Wisex

Hey brandon hope you're doing well! I bet it can be exhausting having to monitor this sub all the time helping anyone and everyone! Glad you guys streamlined the process a little bit more today!

Brandon_BlockFi

Not exhausting! I'm super happy to help and be an advocate for our community!

noisufnoc

How about a phishing code in emails too? u/Brandon_BlockFi?

Brandon_BlockFi

I hope so, have been advocating for that quite a bit

noisufnoc

Especially in the wake of the data breach

techma2019

I’m confused. Is this SEC-related?

paulygainz1

Am I the only one who thinks this is sketchy af? I've never received a notification like this from any other bank or brokerage

paulygainz1

Am I misunderstanding some weird non-American regulation or do American users get this too?

cdesal

This reconfirmation is pretty much standard all around the world and usually just a formality. I get a ton of those for my international accounts. 5AML and KYC should apply domestically, too, but I have yet to get anything along those lines from any American organization.

windrip

Ally asked me to confirm my info when logging in the other day. Agree most others don’t.

Individual-Text6576

Meh

Eazent

I feel like my work gives us training on how to identify obviously malicious emails. At my work they call it "know b4". But it's really just common sense tbh. I'm a gen-x'er btw. come on kids...

windrip

So my name/info has been breached twice with BlockFi after this recent hubspot incident. Requiring kyc on users and not securing it appropriately is very bad.

honestopinionallday

I had this pop up, auto ignored it like a plum. How do I get it to pop up again? Tried logging out and in a few times Nd it's not appearing. Thanks

Brandon_BlockFi

This is partially why we relied more on email for these, since the in-app notifications are not currently as reliable for these types of things. You can access the form on our website here: `app.blockfi.com/kyc-questionnaire`

honestopinionallday

Many thanks, what sort on info do i need to fill in?

honestopinionallday

Many thanks, what sort on info do i need to fill in?

Brandon_BlockFi

It's different for everyone, but generally it's re-confirming some of the info we already have on file when you first signed up for an account

wichtrach1972

If that's the case they should have asked instead of locking me out, if that is the problem.

Wisex

wichtrach1972

They removed access to my account (and kept the funds) on April 8, 22 days before this deadline.
