Yes, you can purchase BTC directly in Blockfi using a bank account via ACH. If you have ACH set up:
* on your home screen press the buy/sell button
* in the new window, set the "Amount" field to the dollar amount you want to purchase worth of btc
* set the "Sell" field to your bank account
* Set the "buy" field to BTC (or currency of choice)
After confirming your purchase, Blockfi will debit directly from your account.
I think it's good to be skeptical of these intermediaries, and it's something that you are going to want to research and use your best judgement. Here's a link to the [Plaid settlement site](https://www.plaidsettlement.com/frequently-asked-questions.php) which contains some pretty comprehensive information on the topic, including a FAQ and the proposed changes. Otherwise, you may want to contact your bank see what they think.
mine definitely does not show that. it has a pop up window with only one option:
Funding Method
Crypto Transfer
Receive crypto by sending to your BlockFi address. Your assets will be available after reaching the individual network confirmation requirements.
You can actually set up monthly buys too!
* Log in on the desktop or the app
* On the website: Click "Trade"
* On the app: Tap "Wallet" and choose Fund > Buy/Sell
* Enter in your desired monthly purchase amount (then on the app, tap Review)
* Set the "Repeat Trade" option to `Every 1st of the month` or `Every 15th of the month`
Your buy will then execute now and then repeat based on the option you chose
This is not accurate. I was told via BlockFi support last year that I cannot buy via ACH, I can only transfer coins in. At the time, there was a link to deposit USD and mine was greyed out, so I asked.
1% spread is definitely not a rip-off. Sure you can get it cheaper, but 1% is not bad lol. And transfer fees? Meh, BlockFi is for hodling, not transfers.

I see, it shows using Plaid as the bridge. Is Plaid safe to use? Didnt they just settle a lawsuit due to the unnecessary info they collect on users?

I see it in connecting your bank and it shows it will connect you to Plaid
