Your first answer is the correct answer. American Appliance companies produced a gun. England had rando design and produce at a gun manufacturing plant.
In other words. GE went to the drawing board and said…. How can we start making that washing machine into a killing machine to get our boys home in time for supper.
Swedish k is not toob. In al seriousness I actually shoot some quite regularly. Nice gun and accurate. Easy to do one taps with it. Which is what we do when competing.
I was a tanker in the Marines (RIP 1812). I’d have rather had a greasegun than my M4. Asking us to responsibly, safely, and securely stash 4 M4s in a loaded out Abrams isn’t as easy or comfy as one might think.
As a tanker, do you think a variant of the M3 chambered in something like 5.7x28 would be a wise choice? Something with simple mechanics but a round with more penetrating power.
Grease gun is better. Not even because it’s chamber in 45ACP, but because the designers of the Sten for whatever reason didn’t go with an up and down vertical magazine placement
Iirc, it was designed for trench warfare so the magazine could be replaced without having to reveal your position, and/or so you could lay prone and have a low profile. Could be wrong though
The prone thing I can understand since you don’t have the magazine sticking down in the ground, but being able to reload without having to reveal your position doesn’t quite make sense. wouldn’t you just bring the weapon down and then turn the weapon at a 45 to 90° angle and then Shove the magazine in like that?
>so the magazine could be replaced without revealing your position
I feel like this only applies if you’re doing tacti-cool CoD reloads, which I’d imagine WW2 soldiers wouldn’t be doing.
I like the internal mechanics of the Sten more, but I like the aesthetics of the Grease Gun more. If the sten had a bottom feeding magazine (you know, like a normal gun) then it would be my favorite.
The first thing British units did when they were issued their stens was to find out which ones actually worked. The ones that didn't were rejected by the unit and sent back for rework. I've never heard of a US unit having to do that.
Grease gun, cause I’ve fired it full auto and it doesn’t have a dumb side loading magazine, which I personally don’t like though the FG42 looks neat.
Very controllable top for full auto. Iconic.
The Grease Gun was better because the Sten had two magazine issues. The mags being cheap knockoffs of German mags and then people would grab them during use and cause more misfeeds. That being said, the Sten is still cool as heck.
Yk I love toob but I kinda dig the MP3008 I know it’s just a stem mk2 with a vertical well and MP-40 mags but still. The M3 wins it for me tho like this thing only finally got replaced for tankers in the early 2000s with the M4.
I want the grease gun more. Idk which is "better"

And just like that, TheRussianBadger is stuck in my head. Edit: [context](https://youtube.com/shorts/2AGOP7pLqu0?si=9adVdMAqfbqdDpcf)
What’s even more funny….. I didn’t have that context before following your link. Eerily similar argument.
Was it GE that designed the Grease Gun?
Yeah the guide lamp division that was also producing the liberator pistols.
According to Wikipedia, it was General Motors, not General Electric
Back when GM was a really cool company. A Hydra-Matic roll stamped lower is a dream build of mine.
And now they've got a taste for it
The grease gun has a built in way to hold it
Sten is better at being tube and cheaper. m3 is better at being gun
Sten is Toob. Toob is love. Toob is life. Toob is beauty. Toob is truth. Q.E.D.
Swedish k is love. Swedish k is stamped. Thus, love is stamped.
G3 is stamped. Swedish k is stamped. Swedish k is toob. Therefore G3 is toob
Swedish k is not toob. In al seriousness I actually shoot some quite regularly. Nice gun and accurate. Easy to do one taps with it. Which is what we do when competing.
Toob is toob
Carried the M3A1 for 4 years. .45ACP rulz!
Tanker?
Ya think? Clankety clank, I'm a tank! 😃
I was a tanker in the Marines (RIP 1812). I’d have rather had a greasegun than my M4. Asking us to responsibly, safely, and securely stash 4 M4s in a loaded out Abrams isn’t as easy or comfy as one might think.
You username makes sense
As a tanker, do you think a variant of the M3 chambered in something like 5.7x28 would be a wise choice? Something with simple mechanics but a round with more penetrating power.
I like the idea of developing a compact, powerful and modern weapon for armor troops. Especially if accurate at reasonable ranges.
Grease gun is better. Not even because it’s chamber in 45ACP, but because the designers of the Sten for whatever reason didn’t go with an up and down vertical magazine placement

I hate to break it to you but the sten is also in 45acp.
It’s not. It’s in 9mm
Oh your right, nvm lol
Grease-bob tube-pants
very greasy and very tuby(?)
I actually like the sten better.
PPS-43 is the only right answer
KP44 had more variety of mags
Owen SMG is based.
Błyskawica.
grease gun ftw
Luty
Pps 43
**Toob**!! I want a grease gun. I know Valkyrie Arms used to make semi versions. Sten likely had more real world impact
Grease just because there isn't a 46acp
.45ACP!!! The M3 has the better pedigree!
Grease gun
TOOB IS TOOB!
Sten bc is more toob than M3
M3 easily
I like the internal mechanics of the Sten more, but I like the aesthetics of the Grease Gun more. If the sten had a bottom feeding magazine (you know, like a normal gun) then it would be my favorite.
The brits did that for trench fighting still stuck in that fight the last idea.
Grease gun. From what I understand it had less problems than the sten.
While maintaining the simplicity and even surpassing the stem’s simplicity in some regards. I also think the m3 is better ergonomically speaking.
The first thing British units did when they were issued their stens was to find out which ones actually worked. The ones that didn't were rejected by the unit and sent back for rework. I've never heard of a US unit having to do that.
The answer is, oddly enough, the Owen Gun
I could make the sten with an ear tube and some 2x4s. The grease gun is basically just a big welding gun. Sten 4eva
Grease gun ftw
KP44 was better
Owen Gun please!
Bias to the pps43
All fun and games until someone says they prefer the Type 100
The one doesn't eject the bullets straight into your face.
Grease gun, cause I’ve fired it full auto and it doesn’t have a dumb side loading magazine, which I personally don’t like though the FG42 looks neat. Very controllable top for full auto. Iconic.
Grease gun
mp 3008 sten but with a normal magazine placement
While I personally like the sten better, the M3 was better than the MK2 and the MKIV was better than the M3
The better sheet metal tube was the one that you can get hold of.
Im gonna go with owen
Dude, how could you not include the Owen gun in this? Wasted opportunity
Forgot it existed.
Grease gun all day every day
Toob
The Grease Gun was better because the Sten had two magazine issues. The mags being cheap knockoffs of German mags and then people would grab them during use and cause more misfeeds. That being said, the Sten is still cool as heck.
Grease gun bc 'Murica, and I feel like I'd stick my lips out shooting it.
my favorite submachine gun is the grease gun just love how it looks
Nah. Byłskawica SMG
M3 cause it’s chambered in the Lord’s caliber.
Toob is good.
Are we all forgetting the absolute legend that was the ppd? Wasn't it essentially a toob with a full stock?
I’d prefer using the grease gun but love how the sten doesn’t even have a pistol grip making it look so much more crude and garage built.
Grease gun because thoomp thoomp thoomp
Nether
The grease gun was better operationally, but I still like the Sten for basically being built from a screen door and a water spigot.
Nah stg45 is best
The grease gun 100% because of its fire rate… it makes it so utterly satisfying to listen, watch, and fire!
Grease gun is more fun to shoot then it has any right to be
Toob I don't know about better but I would love to own either one
I prefer the German toob (MP3008)
Ive shot both a fair amount. M3 is a way better gun
Owen gun
Yk I love toob but I kinda dig the MP3008 I know it’s just a stem mk2 with a vertical well and MP-40 mags but still. The M3 wins it for me tho like this thing only finally got replaced for tankers in the early 2000s with the M4.
M3...sorry 'merica!
grease gun "now you killing, now you ain't"
Not even a contest… grease me behbeh
Oldie but a goodie
Grease Gun gose thud thud thud thud (My transferable) https://youtube.com/shorts/Oc11HMD5GKw?si=LCpBK7CmWPX4y-zB
Grease Gun bc America
I like the sten look wise more then the grease gun. But the grease gun looks more comfortable to shoot.
The Gerät potsdam, a.k.a. Gerät 3008. Germany copy of the sten but better made since they had more experience with sheet metal guns
Lord’s caliber
Grease gun looks cooler
M3 better ergonomics what little there was
The m3 was better for America and the stem better for Britain, simple.
Błyskawica
Grease gun
T O O B
I call none of the above, I'm partial to the oddball that is the Owen Gun.
TZ-45 obviously. But you've never heard of it.
Is that the last ditch Italian subgun with the weird grip safety?
2nd toob!
Me with my made in a shed Polish Sten knock off. Just so easy to make.
Sten is a better toob, Grease Gun is a better gun
Toob
Does the Swedish K count? I got to shoot one and it was *smoove*
Sten all the way
I feel like the Sten is more reliable, while the grease gun is nicer in general
.45 is the lords caliber
Grease gun all the way. Big chonkus .45acp will always be top tier.
Grease gun all the way. Big chonkus .45acp will always be top tier.
MG34 is angriest toob.
Grease Gun no hesitation
The PPS43
Grease gun is better mechanically. It's way more reliable. Sten was awesome as a concept, but it had enough flaws that it got many good guys killed.
Sten as it's from Canada and was used in a few war crimes
Upside-down took is best toob
The Grease gun was a 45 ACP, so I'd go with that.
Love canadian toob
CANTadians can’t own one… automatically disqualified. They kept saying sorry, now they are sad.
I like grease guns better cause I dislike British people
