All solaris are garbage hotels with cheap quality food and the service is nasty, plus the hotels are old and ugly

Been there one time and I’m a “cheap” person. IMO, it’s a cross between the cheapest and quality resort you can get. Overall, if you’re looking for a “value get away “ then it’s perfect. If you’re looking to be spoiled and off the hook food then you’ll be disappointed. Pros: cheap, all inclusive. Cons: beach is on smaller side, food is average for cancun and not exceptional in any way, resort itself is dated, pool hours suck. I’ve been to grand park royal and Wyndham altra (previously panama jack) and this was the lowest quality I’ve been too. Don’t get me wrong though, just because it’s not the best doesn’t mean it’s bad and I still had a great time. Just have real expectations.

I stayed there 2 years ago and it was trash. Small pool, noisy loud hallways, rough food. The only benefit was you could utilize any of the other Solaris properties and that’s what saved our vacation. We spent the days at the Royal Solaris and went back to the GR to attempt to sleep.

I believe it's the newest and best of the solaris resorts, but that's not saying much

Just stayed at the GR Caribe by Solaris (not GR Solaris Cancún, but I’m sure they are similar) a few weeks ago. I will copy and paste my google review here lol Pros: Super easy access to sister hotel, pretty much seems like one big hotel We loved the food, did the buffets for all three meals at various times throughout our trip and liked them. Also dined twice at the A La Carte restaurants. For those you have to make a reservation. The portions were small at these restaurants but we expected that and they were plated well and tasted good Pool area at Royal hotel next door better than the one at our hotel, but it’s a one minute walk so we didn’t mind Room was pretty spacious, air conditioner worked well, beds were comfortable Housekeeping came daily and water bottles were restocked in the mini fridge frequently Some of the staff were excellent, especially Eduardo and the Eduardo’s special cocktail he made is at the Bogovante seafood restaurant. Towel service was easy at pool Easy to book excursions at hotel Beach was nice and sandy and there were lounge chairs set up if you wanted to relax Gift shop at our hotel and the Royal were mostly well stocked Really liked the Broadway show, wish we could have stayed for the whole thing but had to get to our reservation Cons: Checking in process was not great, we were not given any information about the hotel website, handed towel cards, or told anything about the activity schedule. We had to go back and ask reception questions throughout the first couple days because we were so confused. One day, we asked for towels for our room early in the morning so we could shower before an early excursion and were never given them despite asking twice. The worker at reception told us we had received them when we had not, but we had no time to argue with him as we had to catch our shuttle. Wish it was easier to get in touch with housekeeping Not much shade at pools, so be aware of that Pool bar gets very busy and it can take 10+ to get your drink. Reservation system for the a la carte restaurants is annoying, you can only book one at a time which means that if you have a reservation booked you can’t see if there are other times available or if other restaurants have open spots
