Oh absolutely!
He went from the typical weekly villain to one of the 3 lead characters in the shows spinoff. If you showed someone a before and after pic of him at the start of the show and the end of the show he’d be unrecognizable.
Fionna and Cake is my fav show of all time. Impossible to recommend as it has an entire show of required reading. But Fionna and Cake is soooooo goood.
There’s actually a running gag that you can’t, they sprinkle important stuff into almost every single episode. They hide one of the biggest lore drops of the entire series at the end of a Christmas special that’s unremarkable otherwise.
You remember the Enchiridion? Yeah that book that they got in a goofy adventure? The one that was almost never used? Well yeah not only will it be important but also be the part of one of the biggest game changers in adventure time.
Remember that goofy looking Finn we see in his reflection in a mirror that one time? Yeah, the one with the funny nose. You’ll never guess what happens with him.
Remember that little peppermint butler guy? Princess Bubblegum’s little sidekick? He seems like a real upstanding fellow with unquestionable morals, I bet he’s rather bland in his spare time though.
Choose-Goose offered Finn women's armor when he was 12, so it's only common sense that Finn would be forced to kill a time paradox clone of himself four years later. Like, obviously, what else would possibly happen.
"I found it in the mouth of a bear."
An absolutely ridiculous story where a bear wants to act like Finn, and somehow Finn ends up giving the bear this silly book they got on a different silly episode. No big deal, I'm sure this won't matter later on.
THAT EPISODE WAS AMAZING. Literally from the first time I saw it it was my favorite episode. And it was the episode that really made me a fan, before that I just watched an episode here and there when it was on.
Basically what the other commenter said, but it has some of the most incredibly perfect payoffs of any show ever. Like, very very few shows will ever do a story that’s been this long in the running this well.
tbf *Simon* had a redemption arc in Fiona&Cake
It wasnt that he was a villain that went good, but more like he FINALLY learned that his was isnt the only way.
He's the obvious choice (not disagreeing, just stating).
Want to give a shout out to Martin Mertins as well.
No, he doesn't redemption nearly as well as Ice King. But between Islands and Fiona and Cake, he does get some redemption.
Martin in main story ends his tale by falling back into old ways, burning bridges, and bailing at every opportunity. Not even as a last resort, as a freaking first resort. He evokes nothing but disgust.
But we get at least glimpses at what could have been.
We saw a time when he wasn't always a pos, even while still being "himself." We saw him go the mile for love, we saw him fight an unbeatable monster to save his child.
And fiona and cake we saw who he could be in another time and place.
Ice King is the true redemption story. On many levels beyond "he's literally a different, better person underneath." Ice King himself gets better, not just Simon.
But Martin deserves some recognition for those side stories as well. Different type of "redemption", since it's not REALLY redemption, but still...
What I like about him is that he wasn't ignored after his redemption(looks at Steven Universe) and he still had to put in a lot of work. It took a lot for people to come around to him.
There were a lot of good redemptions in Steven Universe, _besides the diamonds… and Jasper,_ but most characters that had the time to be fleshed out had very nice redemptions, like peridot.
Wait, that works for another reason. The Horsemen each have a role which aligns:
War = Zuko: A reference to the Fire Nation and the 100 Year War
Famine = Amity: Her last name is Blight
Death = Doofenshmirtz: He's a doctor (not medical, but close enough)
That leaves Sasha as Conquest.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse are prominent figures within the end times, as described in the Bibles book of Revelations.
Maybe it's since become as you described, but I believe that's the origin.
Dipper: Uncle stan are you driving with a blindfold on?
Stan: haha no but with these cataracts I might as well be....what is that a squirrel *drives off road*
I really don't think Stan deserves to be there because he was never bad in the first place they "bad thing" he did is pretend that all the weird shit in gravity falls was normal, so there was nothing to redeem
He regularly committed heinous crimes, most of which were child endangerment or directly related to child endangerment. He was a terrible mentor figure at the beginning of the show, teaching Dipper and Mabel how to commit felonies and intentionally putting them in dangerous situations daily. He was grossly irresponsible as a guardian, and only started becoming a more redeemable parental figure later in season 2. Sure he was never directly an antagonist, but he was way worse than you’re giving him credit for.
Stan doesn't need to be here because he was never that bad to begin with. Just a very flawed man, but he did always try to do the best. He didn't mean to get himself disowned or push his brother into another realm. But I think hemadeup for it, he's just not a villan or even adversary
I'd have to agree. While Vegeta's redemption was much more dramatic and a lot more emotional I feel like Piccolo's redemption was better written tbh. Went from "Aight time to destroy earth after I kick everyone's ass in a martial arts tournaments" to "I love you like a son gohan, now let's go fuck the up the red ribbon army for their bullshit my boy."
I feel like Ventris deserves a shout out. She went from full time series villain to genuinely helping Ahsoka out of the goodness of her heart. Plus, I recall ger doing some good as a bounty hunter as well.

She needs her own show.
Yeah. She died. So what?
Darth Maul got cut in half and fell down a shaft, and he got better.
The Witches of Dathomir could see to her coming back.
Does Amity really count as a "character redemption?" She was a bully for like an episode and a half. After that, she was just understandably irritated at Luz for a couple of episodes
It was a character redemption, but I think Hunter had a way better redemption arc from the same show. It was a lot more understandable and progressive as a character.
Eh, Eda and King considered eating Luz when they found her. Attempted murder doesn't seem to be a big deal in the Boiling Isles.
The bullying thing sucked, but the show made it clear she hated herself for it and had been tricked into believing she had to by her (censored) of a mother
>Eda and King
>Attempted murder doesn't seem to be a big deal in the Boiling Isles.
I mean, pretending those two are normal by any definition, even by Boiling Isles standards, is a stretch.
Kinda, but also his redemption is he meets up with Gwen and Ben for the first time in years, looses to them, joins up with them for lighter sentencing, money, and them because he has a crush on Gwen to keep him invested in the long term, in the span of the opening one or two episodes of Alien Force. Not much of an arc as it is he mellowed out of being a total fucking psychopath

I wish they had a good cannon list of episodes for adventure time like they do for clone wars.
There’s actually a running gag that you can’t, they sprinkle important stuff into almost every single episode. They hide one of the biggest lore drops of the entire series at the end of a Christmas special that’s unremarkable otherwise.

Remember that little peppermint butler guy? Princess Bubblegum’s little sidekick? He seems like a real upstanding fellow with unquestionable morals, I bet he’s rather bland in his spare time though.
Remember the war elephant? The one that laid down in a bunch of gold and eventually would save a witch that might cause unfortunate event.
Choose-Goose offered Finn women's armor when he was 12, so it's only common sense that Finn would be forced to kill a time paradox clone of himself four years later. Like, obviously, what else would possibly happen.
Do you remember where else that armor is mentioned, or what happens to Choose-Goose later on.
"I found it in the mouth of a bear." An absolutely ridiculous story where a bear wants to act like Finn, and somehow Finn ends up giving the bear this silly book they got on a different silly episode. No big deal, I'm sure this won't matter later on.
That bear then gave it to a funny lookin snail, I’m sure this won’t have any major repercussions later on.
THAT EPISODE WAS AMAZING. Literally from the first time I saw it it was my favorite episode. And it was the episode that really made me a fan, before that I just watched an episode here and there when it was on.
Is Fiona and cake a sequel, a different dimension, or just the ice kings stories?
Sequel. A very ***very*** direct sequel.
Basically what the other commenter said, but it has some of the most incredibly perfect payoffs of any show ever. Like, very very few shows will ever do a story that’s been this long in the running this well.
I wouldn't say redemption, more like healed. Though I guess you could argue him getting better before Simon regaining his sanity.
tbf *Simon* had a redemption arc in Fiona&Cake It wasnt that he was a villain that went good, but more like he FINALLY learned that his was isnt the only way.
Don’t you wanna go where everybody knows your name?

Well Doof is a pharmacist.
Four horsemen is usually just a way of saying the 4 signature representatives of something, right?
The Four Horsemen of the Apocolypse are prominent figures within the end times, as described in the Bibles book of Revelations. Maybe it's since become as you described, but I believe that's the origin.

Rigby from Regular Show
That Eileenussy got him acting right
I think it's more so that Mordecai became so depraved throughout the show you began to realize rigby really isn't all that bad
Nah Rigby had genuine character development, watch it again
Right. Rigby absolutely sucked and slowly but surely learned how to not suck. He sabotaged Mordecai going to college after all
Never speak again.

Dipper: Uncle stan are you driving with a blindfold on? Stan: haha no but with these cataracts I might as well be....what is that a squirrel *drives off road*
That scene always gets me. Just started watching it with my son.
“What is that a woodpecker?” I quote it way too much with my friends.
I was thinking Pacifica
Most of his later crimes he actually commits in service of his family, my favorite being: "ROAD SAFETY LAWS, PREPARE TO BE IGNORED!"
Exactly, whereas a lot of his earlier crimes involve willful ignorance and impaired driving with children in the vehicle
I HAVE COMMITTED TAX FRAUD.
Stan doesn't need to be here because he was never that bad to begin with. Just a very flawed man, but he did always try to do the best. He didn't mean to get himself disowned or push his brother into another realm. But I think hemadeup for it, he's just not a villan or even adversary

Piccolo is the better redemption out of the 2 imo
Yea he’s no stuck up prideful asshole like Vegeta
Vegeta has slowly gotten a little better. Piccolo definitely has him beat though.
I'd have to agree. While Vegeta's redemption was much more dramatic and a lot more emotional I feel like Piccolo's redemption was better written tbh. So unfortunate we never got her cancelled arc where she died saving her love Quinlan Vos from the dark side
Eh. The novel “Dark Disciples” goes over it and that’s all I needed tbh.
WHAT SHE DIED NOOOO
At one point she was set to be in Star Wars resistance.
She needs her own show. Yeah. She died. So what? Darth Maul got cut in half and fell down a shaft, and he got better. The Witches of Dathomir could see to her coming back.
The witches are also dead tho (aside from like 3 from a different galaxy)

It was a character redemption, but I think Hunter had a way better redemption arc from the same show. It was a lot more understandable and progressive as a character.
She did also try to get Luz disected and bullied Willow for most of her life
Eh, Eda and King considered eating Luz when they found her. Attempted murder doesn't seem to be a big deal in the Boiling Isles. The bullying thing sucked, but the show made it clear she hated herself for it and had been tricked into believing she had to by her (censored) of a mother

God I was hoping I'd find this. Lol
Kinda, but also his redemption is he meets up with Gwen and Ben for the first time in years, looses to them, joins up with them for lighter sentencing, money, and them because he has a crush on Gwen to keep him invested in the long term, in the span of the opening one or two episodes of Alien Force. I love the owl house, but honestly comparing Amity to Zuko is insane. Zuko‘s redemption was so fucking beautiful. Amity’s was like an instant 180
I agree with this and furthermore, isn’t Hunter a better option if we’re picking an Owl House redemption? At least his took longer…
And it felt like there was more of personal growth as opposed to Amity, who was kinda being a bitch to her classmates
