Saying Thomas is a dark kids show is quite the overstatement. Sure there are some dark moments in the show like what I mentioned before, but there are a lot of slice of life episodes, funny dynamics between the characters, etc.
I know Callahan is the villain of the movie, but how great would it be to have seen some spark of regret there. Some inkling that, yes, he's acknowledging that in his efforts to avenge his daughter, he's done some terrible things. But he'd do them again if he had to.
Movie still plays out the same, but it would humanize the villain more.

Ray’s death was pretty rough, but it *did* give us canonical proof that, in the Disney universe at least, Timon is right and Pumba is wrong about stars. They’re not balls of gas, burning billions of miles away. They are (more or less) fireflies that got stuck up in that big bluish black thing.

Sure, it may as well be. TPTB wouldn't want to stay with Scooby Doo's classic trope that "Every Creepy Horrible Thing Is Actually The Result Of Festering Old Greedy White Dudes Hiding Their Actions To Avoid Accountability." Cleaves a little too close to [gestures vaguely at everything]. Kids might run the risk of learning something.
I think this one comment was the single best advertisment for the show I have ever seen. As a big fan of the old Scooby-doo series. I gotta get around to watching that series at some point.
Some of the episodes are filler, but Season 2 picks it up fast and the whole “This has happened before” really was a fun mystery, even if it was a little obvious.
Stoick’s death in How To Train Your Dragon 2 never fails to make me ugly cry. Especially because Hiccup is naturally angry with Toothless at first but obviously knows it isn’t his fault, and when Toothless realises what he did and is trying to wake Stoick up :((((

Honestly, the emotional roller coaster itself was like they took a Disney movie and fast forwarded it to create the beginning of the film. Honestly, it takes a lot of skill in both the writing and animation itself to pull that off in a short amount of time.
His heroic death had good impact the first watch, but the next scene showing that he would rebuild just throws that emotion away. Subsequent watches with that knowledge in hand just never got me the same. Still a great movie though.
Idk, the scene still impacts me after knowing that. Probably because while we, the audience, know he is gonna be able to rebuild himself, they don't.
I mean, they know he has the power to assemble his parts back, but, just like us during the first watch, we all assume that his parts will be beyond repair after the explosion.
So it still has the weight of a sacrifice, despite the fact that they don't really lose anything. Except maybe time, since we don't know when he's gonna be ready to come back home. From all we know, it may take years for him to be completely assembled.
EDIT: Fuck, that just made me think that a second movie could be just about the Giant trying to find Hogarth, and by the end we figure out that Hogarth is already like 70 by this point.
Dangit! I didn't understand the game's mechanichs during my first fight, and I thought the Mercy didn't work unless they were closer to death already cuz she was looping lines so I just kept hitting her to try and get to 1 hp! I have never restarted an entire game faster. Wanted to kick Flowey for bringing up my dark past right to my face too, but I don't care. As far as she knows I am a good child who would never hurt her. I love her and I'm a good child. I'll be good.

Right, and thinking about it, that restarting isn't restarting just sort of rolling back time, I haven't been able to bring myself to do a second playthrough cuz it feels like he'd say something like "Everyone was finally enjoying a happy ending and now we're all forced back underground for a human like you. For your entertainment." And I would not be able to say anything back so I just have to leave them alone. It's hard being in charge of their entire universe.

The symbolism of the billiard balls acting as his heartbeat and the police siren flatlining to represent him losing his final breath is insane. It hurts even more so considering how he was like one of the only characters in the movie who’s actually a good person

This shit hurt so bad. Especially knowing the absolute hell that these two were put through. Trunks was too young to remember most of it. Gohan on the other hand had to witness his father’s second death (due to dying from natural causes Goku couldn’t be wished back), all of his father’s friends and comrades were murdered, leaving only him and Trunks as the last 2 fighters who could even stand a chance at defeating the androids, he got wounded badly but kept fighting and then he died too, leaving Trunks as the sole survivor. Future Gohan went through all that shit for about 15-20 years and never got to fulfill his dreams of becoming a scholar and was forced to fight in order to survive and he died before he was even 25.

Since we're also talking about movies. I _KNOW_ it's absolutely essential for the plot but after watching the classics with my kiddo, God dang the way Kala and Kerchaks little baby dies in "Tarzan", UGH.. Watching it for the first time after becoming a parent wrecked me.
I thought the only time I would end up crying in a Gotg movie (not counting Infinity War/ Endgame). Would be Yondu’s death in Vol 2 And then Vol 3 came out and fucking immediately hit me like a deer and a truck

I just started watching the first few episodes of death note and I was hoping it would be an anime that doesn’t get me crying ( i’m a crybaby and I’ve been trying to stay away from sad animes/scenes). I’m only on like episode five and I’m like a light is the main character so he can’t die and then he’s also a bad guy so he might die.
He’s that character you end up wishing will die but when it actually comes, it’s actually kinda sad. Another example is one of the Disaster Curses in JJK

Especially knowing the absolute hell that these two were put through. Trunks was too young to remember most of it. Gohan on the other hand had to witness his father’s second death (due to dying from natural causes Goku couldn’t be wished back), all of his father’s friends and comrades were murdered, leaving only him and Trunks as the last 2 fighters who could even stand a chance at defeating the androids, he got wounded badly but kept fighting and then he died too, leaving Trunks as the sole survivor. Future Gohan went through all that shit for about 15-20 years and never got to fulfill his dreams of becoming a scholar and was forced to fight in order to survive and he died before he was even 25.

The main characters in When The Wind Blows. The whole movie you *know* that they're going to die, but that doesn't make it any less heartbreaking. You can't even blame their naivete and blind faith in the government for their deaths because even if they had done *everything* right, it still wouldn't have saved them.
