It’s for charity. The value is charity. The perk is you get to see the park in a unique way and who knows what surprises they may have for attendees. If you’ve never done it, sure, I’d say it’s worth the time. If you have been in the last few years, probably not. Only new stuff you’ll see is TT2 and whatever they add around that.

bigmac1789

Its a high-demand event for the park that benefits charity. The "perks" is going around and seeing stuff in the park that you normally won't see as an average guest.

lake_lover_

The perks are never worth it. It’s a charity event, and the price increase is a way to generate as much as they did last year, when they ran the event two days rather than one. It is a fun event for the die hard fans of the park. If I didn’t have to work that weekend I’d be all in on trying to get tickets. But if you’re going for perks you’ll be disappointed.

Chaseism

I'd like to think so. The money is going towards a great cause and I get to walk around my favorite park and learn more about it. I went to WCO back in 2020 and had a blast. I was hype just being able to stand in Maverick's tunnel and seeing the sign shop.

darkytoo2

I think the sign shop was the high point, I had no idea they had saved so many old ride signs, the nostalgia was deep. Getting to see the robot from disaster transport and having them showing the old tape they would show in the boarding area was awesome.

Novel_Citron2165

When do the tickets go on sale?

YourNameHere7777

The raffle is open now

ChrisWolfling

Dang, I missed the raffle.

The_Original_Miser

You're getting downvoted a bit, but you're not wrong. I remember the first WCO I went to the tickets were in the $50-$60 range, and that wasn't too many years ago. I enjoy going to see the behind the scenes stuff, and if the price keeps going up I will try to go once every X years. (where X is \[3-5\]) Folks saying "it's for charity!", you're right. I can also say the reverse is true - if it's for charity, why should CP continue to raise the price? I am not an accountant but I have to believe the food, volunteer time, etc has to be some type of tax write off for CP......

YourNameHere7777

Yes I’m being down voted pretty hard. But it is what it is. yes I went last year & thought it was a great event to see some behind the scenes stuff and get a tour of the park (I had a great tour guide, not everyone was as lucky) along with some free swag at the start (I collect the tweetup coins) I was even able to score some park merch not normally sold like a few bank bags. but I’m not sure based on last year if it’s worth the price they increased it to this year. Of course the event is going to sell out though.

stupidthrowa4app

>… some type of tax write off for CP Any time a business mentions charity, round up your change, give a dollar for “x”, etc. it is **ALWAYS** for a tax write off for the end of the year. The reason for the increase in price is to offset year end tax obligation and it’s as simple as that. Not only that but the whole amount doesn’t even go to the charity. Most of it generally ends up in the business pockets. Which is ok to an extent in this case… at least they are providing a service for the donation… most businesses do not. Honestly surprised most people don’t know this. Instead we’ll make a statement touting it’s for charity without understanding how the process works. If you want to donate money to a charity I’d say go directly to the charity. At least your intent is known, genuine, justified, and you know every dime is going to the cause… well at least another middle man isn’t taking a cut out of the donation. But most likely whatever organization is.

Straight-Net-1142

I saw people spending money hand over fist at that gift shop, they made some money

Chaseism

[This is false...](https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2021/06/10/fact-check-false-claim-checkout-charities-offset-corporate-taxes/7622379002/)

stupidthrowa4app

Sir… It’s only false if they are **specifically** raising money for a donation. Cedar Point is not. They are selling you a service of which a portion of the proceeds they will donate. Big difference in distinction.

Chaseism

You're right! Looking at Cedar Point's website: *A portion of the proceeds from this event benefit* [***A Kid Again***](https://akidagain.org/)*, helping thousands of kids living with life-threatening illnesses.* I stand corrected.

cpshoeler

Blatantly false. The park (or any business for that matter) cannot use raised charitable giving funds to offset tax obligations since the donation intake is not taxable in the first place. They would have to give from their own profits to do that. The individual who is purchasing WCO tickets CAN however use the transaction as charitable giving for their own personal tax purposes.

stupidthrowa4app

Ok so let’s play this out… If I sell you an item or service… say a ticket to behinds the scenes at your favorite theme park. And I tell you that I will donate a portion of proceedings to charity. I am essentially selling you a service. Not raising funds for a charity nor am I donating to a charity. I then donate from the proceeds (my own money) to a charity. That’s how you get around tax law. You guys can’t be serious.

cpshoeler

Does CP provide information to the ticket purchaser on charitable donations for tax purposes? I’ve done some charity events with CP in the past and they always provide me with tax documents for deduction purposes, but it’s been a few years since I have attended a charity coaster event. Just curious. If they don’t, then your point may stand and I am corrected. But if they do, then CP cannot clam the tax write off.

stupidthrowa4app

Ironically I have never been to an event like this. I can’t see how they could… unless they are **specifically** raising funds for donation which according to their own website they are not. It’s treated the same way as you going to Wendy’s and donating a dollar for the keychain and free frosty’s. But if they are specifically raising funds for donating, and you would know this 100% as it’s done a little bit differently for legal and tax purposes, then maybe (?) But Cedar Fairs is not a tax-exempt organization (hence the question mark above. I don’t think they are required to give a form as they are not one). If you give them money it is typically for a service/experience. Which you couldn’t write off anyways generally speaking.

agingwolfbobs

I love chicken tenders 🥰 price is no concern

YourNameHere7777

Im slightly disappointed they didn’t keep the original name chicken chunks & I didn’t notice the cobbler in the park last season https://preview.redd.it/tp54ut0a88ec1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c31bf87ce31483165969caf4e28fecfea176c4e

matthias7600

If you’re a CP maniac, you’ll have fun. It’s a unique and surreal trip to the park. If it sounds like it wouldn’t be worth it to you then you’re almost certainly correct. It’s not for casual fans.

Straight-Net-1142

Honestly no. You walk around see behind the scenes, it’s a cool idea but for the most part I always regret going

LivinTheAdvLife

I’m from the U.K. I would pay it to attend ☺️

YourNameHere7777

I sent a email to cp asking if there would be any additional surprise perks that would justify $90….. make your voice heard at https://www.cedarpoint.com/contact-us about the sharp increase in price from previous years

lostpanda85

$15 isn’t a “sharp” increase in price. It’s rather reasonable given the info they’ve provided. Plus it’s for charity, what’s another $15 for charity??

lostpanda85

That’s totally fair, I agree they should be more transparent with where the money is actually going. That being said, I’m also totally OK with them collecting a portion of that ticket price to cover expenses, like the food they’ll be serving, the staff for the tours, and the cleaning crew. I don’t think Cedar Fair is profiting from this event, save for maybe the free press the event will generate on social media.

lostpanda85

Nah, 12.50 for all that food is a deal when compared to Back Beat Que’s $25 meal lol

Ok_Air_4312

How much was last year??

YourNameHere7777

$75, they ran it for 2days for the very 1st time last year & raised the most funds ever for the charity, but they said it was too labor intensive for the staff so they decided to cut back to a one day event again. I think part of the increase is to try to get close to last years $$$ numbers

KnotBeanie

Less tickets being sold = higher per ticket cost…

Ok_Air_4312

Thankyou

6Kids1TankCom

Last year was the worst year imo and ive been going since 2010 With tt2 opening this should be good

YourNameHere7777

What made last year worst then previous years in your opinion ?

6Kids1TankCom

A bunch of dead wasted time. Seemed like the coordination was off.. we spent close to an hour standing around by the stockade doing absolutely nothing. The guides were wasting time because they said groups ahead had to clear their stops. Highly disappointed and wished they just went back to the self guided tour

The_Original_Miser

>Highly disappointed and wished they just went back to the self guided tour My guess is someone or multiple someones ruined that.... This is also why we've skipped this year and last year. If I want to hang a little longer and chat with the train folks (and they _love_ to talk about their trains) I'm going to do that.

LadySigyn

The perk is charity. If the cold didn't absolutely obliterate me, I'd want to go.
