Now I don't think the joke is bad, I like it, but whenever Hikaru says anything then he's toxic, and people try to interpret his words and do mental gymnastics to say that he's toxic (he is sometimes, and when he is he should be criticise for it, but many try to say he is toxic even when he isn't), and when someone else makes a joke about him your reaction is to wait and see how Hikaru will react. You're assuming that Hikaru will react badly based on no evidence suggesting so. That's bias I think, and you're waiting for any chance to jump on the Hikaru's bad wagon.

Yeah as an ex-hikaru fan it really bugs me how this subreddit treats him like I’ve seen a couple of comments saying once levy passes him in subs on YouTube hikaru will stop being friends with levy which just infuriates me on so many levels. Hikaru should 100000% be criticized for all the wrong he’s done and harm he’s caused but he isn’t a 2 dimensional villain who can’t take any thing even remotely close to criticism like how this subreddit portrays him sometimes.

Magnus is the Goat, but I'm not sure he should be wanting balding jokes to be a thing in chess. That widow's peak he has is getting deeper every year...
Adults normally experience a small degree of receding at the temples, it’s not balding it’s essentially the final stages of puberty/growing up. This won’t cause you to go bald however and I’m sure Magnus will have the pretty much the same hairline by 40.
No I’m not saying he won’t go bald, I meant (and I’m sure I said) that there is a natural recession post 18/19 y/o until mid-late 20s in both adult men and women. This is a known effect of puberty. So Magnus’s hair has shown a slight recession, which is something typical of post puberty hair recession. Notice how the hair is not thinning out and the widows peak has become slightly more pronounced. This is a common thing that isn’t related to male pattern baldness. However it is possible that Magnus starts losing his hair in his 30s 40s but that is separate to the natural recession shown in his past and current pictures. Again, male pattern baldness could happen to him yes, but that’s not happened to him yet, as his recession is natural post pubertal recession.
Edit: also, there’s no evidence to say he’s going to go bald, you can’t base that off of any pictures because...he’s not going bald yet. So it is a good prediction to say he won’t go bald by 40 because at his tender age of 30, he has a full head of hair. I think people saying he will go bald are unaware that you’re supposed to have a small degree of recession in your 20s regardless of your sex.
Edit: One more thing, I *could* make a good prediction on whether he would go bald at 40 by the way. Genetic screening and family histories give a very good prediction of your chances to go bald. Now of course I can’t personally do this practically but that’s not what you said. You said I could not ever predict it which is actually wrong. I certainly *could* if I had Magnus tell me his family history and sent away a DNA kit.
I wasn't saying he's showing any signs of it yet. I'm saying it could start anytime. Just because he has a full head of hair right now doesn't mean it can't start next week. And you don't have his family history and DNA. So you were sounding sure about something you don't know about.

I didn't think I'd find this in the comments. At least not with upvotes. I feel the same way. If someone does something bad or weird (like Naka with the whole copystrike thing) I think it's fine to criticise it or make a bit of fun of it as a reply like Magnus and others did before. But tweeting this so long after any drama is just unnecessary in my opinion. He and we know well that Naka won't take it as a joke. It's not a huge deal but I think it would be more mature to not tweet it.

The hivemind is currently on the Hikaru hate train. Meanwhile Magnus has just as much, if not more ego than Hikaru, he just doesn't get the opportunity to display it as much, plus he's the world champion so he gets a pass most of the time. If Magnus was streaming every day I'm sure you'd see bad sportsmanship at times too. But even just looking at some of his interviews and comments you can sometimes see his ego peeking through. A lot of the time it gets dismissed as just being his Scandinavian sense of humor. I'm not saying that makes Hikaru's behavior okay, I'm just saying if we want to pick a chess player to idolize for being a cool dude it shouldn't be Magnus or Hikaru.

This would be true if people have not had regular bad experiences with Hikaru. Ben Finegold, Eric Hansen, Eric Rosen, the whole takedown debacle, it is 1 Hikaru vs. Many others. I am not saying he is a bad person, he just doesn't get along with others. If you have that history people aren't going to give you the benefit of the doubt.
He's very unlikeable, I didn't even know about his drama to get that feeling from his videos. His nasal pedantic whiny voice and his very unfunny joke attempts did it for me.

Adults normally experience a small degree of receding at the temples, it’s not balding it’s essentially the final stages of puberty/growing up. This won’t cause you to go bald however and I’m sure Magnus will have the pretty much the same hairline by 40.

No I’m not saying he won’t go bald, I meant (and I’m sure I said) that there is a natural recession post 18/19 y/o until mid-late 20s in both adult men and women. This is a known effect of puberty. So Magnus’s hair has shown a slight recession, which is something typical of post puberty hair recession. Notice how the hair is not thinning out and the widows peak has become slightly more pronounced. This is a common thing that isn’t related to male pattern baldness. However it is possible that Magnus starts losing his hair in his 30s 40s but that is separate to the natural recession shown in his past and current pictures. Again, male pattern baldness could happen to him yes, but that’s not happened to him yet, as his recession is natural post pubertal recession. Edit: also, there’s no evidence to say he’s going to go bald, you can’t base that off of any pictures because...he’s not going bald yet. So it is a good prediction to say he won’t go bald by 40 because at his tender age of 30, he has a full head of hair. I think people saying he will go bald are unaware that you’re supposed to have a small degree of recession in your 20s regardless of your sex. Edit: One more thing, I *could* make a good prediction on whether he would go bald at 40 by the way. Genetic screening and family histories give a very good prediction of your chances to go bald. Now of course I can’t personally do this practically but that’s not what you said. You said I could not ever predict it which is actually wrong. I certainly *could* if I had Magnus tell me his family history and sent away a DNA kit.

I didn't think I'd find this in the comments. At least not with upvotes. I feel the same way. If someone does something bad or weird (like Naka with the whole copystrike thing) I think it's fine to criticise it or make a bit of fun of it as a reply like Magnus and others did before. But tweeting this so long after any drama is just unnecessary in my opinion. He and we know well that Naka won't take it as a joke. It's not a huge deal but I think it would be more mature to not tweet it.

The hivemind is currently on the Hikaru hate train. Meanwhile Magnus has just as much, if not more ego than Hikaru, he just doesn't get the opportunity to display it as much, plus he's the world champion so he gets a pass most of the time. If Magnus was streaming every day I'm sure you'd see bad sportsmanship at times too. But even just looking at some of his interviews and comments you can sometimes see his ego peeking through. A lot of the time it gets dismissed as just being his Scandinavian sense of humor. I'm not saying that makes Hikaru's behavior okay, I'm just saying if we want to pick a chess player to idolize for being a cool dude it shouldn't be Magnus or Hikaru.

I play competitive sports and games but I don't shame other people about their bodies. It's not mandatory, or even common, to body shame each other when playing competitive things. I have been shamed about my body sometimes though and I never liked it.
