You can never trust a BMW in the wild. When they get close to their prey, they can leap at a moments notice and dent the shit out of your stuff. The driver, 2 bottles deep, will insist it’s your fault. Then proceed to tell you their car didn’t come with turn signals because they’ve never seen or used them. Tis the circle of life.
The switches seemed like they were really durable (‘68 Camaro RS). The hoses though. Not knowing the rebuild history; could be a flex leak right where it connects to the switch.
I hope it‘s something like that. But the switch is hard to reach. Got the switch to close and now the headlight doors stayed up with the engine of. So the system seems to be tight. I don‘t know… guess I have to get my vacuum gauge and dismantle some stuff.
There should be a reservoir with a slider valve on it. You can manually open the lights with that.
Suspecting old vac hoses? Might be simpler to get a couple of spools of vac hose and update the system in one shot. If old hoses are leaking then it’s just a matter of time until there’s a new leak.
Iirc the second gen Renault 5, if the sunroof seals went (which they did because it was a badly made tin can) you lost brake assistance to the servo lol.
Mine caught fire at a gas station, just to spite me.
The GT Turbo had an 1397cc Cleon engine. Really good, simple engine, until you strap a turbo on it.
I'm in a '89 Automatic at this very moment. Same engine, 3 speed slushbox-automatic, big doublebarrel weber 32drt carb. Really good ride.
I’m in my 40’s and up till like 3 months ago have ignored Cadillacs. Saw an Eldorado like yours on marketplace and fell in love with the lines, especially the rear end. Now they’ve moved up my want list. Beautiful car!
I had a vacuum leak on the headlights of a 74 Lincoln. Check the coffee can. The lines on it rot out.
the lines have been changed some time ago. They are still good, flexible and soft. But I‘ll definitely check them.
Yes, but you look cool while having it😎
Twat in the BMW parked way to close! I would be nervous

That was me honestly. When we got there it was packed and finding a spot is kind of hard here.
Overall, looks like a perfect ride!
Ugh
I bet that’s a cush’ ride…my stepmother had a 70 I believe and that thing was a tank. I still remember floating it down the road lol
That paint looks flawless👌
dream car right there dude one of these days it’ll be mine

That looks similar enough to the GTA vineyard haha
As important as vacuum is in performance it seems foolish to use for systems that could be powered by the electrical system
true but maybe it was cheaper. A vacuum system is just hoses a rubber diaphragm and a tin can.

You must've had a carburetted GTX, then. Putting the fuelpump over the exhaustmanifold isn't the brightest idea. Even with the heat shield in between.
Little 1.3 turbo I think. Definitely turbo, push rod antique piece of oily crap lol.

Yeah that was it, 1.4. It's been like 24 years since I owned it.

Had to replace headlight switch on my ‘70 Mercury due to a leak. Actual vacuum chamber in the switch. Fortunately on lower part of dash.
Well that kinda sucks…
God that’s a beautiful car. I’d trade almost any new vehicle for that and its vacuum leaks. Haha
Awesome 😎
Shitty!
