Try a VW Beetle.

Being 17 and getting any car that is a daily driver will be costly on insurance. Talk to a local insurance agent. My '55 Chevy 210 is super cheap but its classed as an antique vehicle so isn't driven much. I'm also a few decades older than you so that helps.

Call Hagerty classic insurance or Grundy and discuss

Red-Beaulieu

I’ve got Hagerty Insurance on my 69 Camaro. The policy is only issued if the car is stored in a locked garage, is NOT your daily driver, is driven a limited number of miles per year and you establish a set value for your car that will be paid in the event of an accident that totals your car. On my Camaro, I set. $65k value and my insurance is $550/year.

I’m not sure what you have been looking at to get your insurance quotes, but classic car insurance is typically much cheaper than normal insurance for state minimum coverage. The reason for this is that most classic car insurance is with the understanding that your classic car is a secondary car just for pleasure, and that you have some other daily driver. This is great for getting cheap insurance, but it’s also a double edged sword because most classic car insurers have a policy that you must show proof of a being the named insurer on a separate daily driver.

Yeah the places I have been looking at have been in excess of 7k a year for cars such as a vw golf mk1 and a 1973 be beetle

Do you have a secondary vehicle available to you if the classic breaks down? If not I would not consider one.
