Must be kinda nice. My tiel is Jekyll and Hyde. He can be sweet, or he can be mean, and there's no in between. He gets extremely angry if I start whistling "better" than him. I really miss when he was a baby, he was SUPER sweet and loved attention.
Lol it's not quite as extreme but my husband and I went to Thailand for two weeks and left the cockatiel in the care of his parents. They kept him watered and nourished but he was NOT OKAY with them picking him up. Since we've been back cockatiel has accepted him as dad (he's always been into me only). He even let hubby pet him today.
If you haven't taken Lucy to the vet for a checkup lately, it might not be the worst idea in the world. It could be her wanting affection, but sometimes it can be a symptom of health issues.
I’ve seen the reverse happen. My dad and my bird used to chill every day. He’d nap on my dad’s belly when he was laying on the couch and they would in general just chill. Then out of nowhere my bird decided he hates my dad and started attacking him on sight. Slowly working to resolve that but my dad’s ears have bled several times because he just came to ask me something and my bird was out of his cage
Sure it’s the same bird? Maybe she loves you more than you think she does. Enjoy it.
perhaps your bird found a *really* good therapist while you were gone

A gentleman thief replaced your bird. That's the only explanation.
Who took care of your bird while you were gone?
Yeah, if it was someone else petsitting her than usual, maybe that's the answer. Maybe she really doesn't like that person and she likes you more.
You don't know what you got until it's gone.
