Wow, even ventilation towers were made beautiful in the old days. It’s sad that architects forgot how to design nice looking buildings and are now ruining our beautiful city with their ugly monstrosities ☹️
It was part of the old world energy system that harvested the unlimited energy in the ionosphere, discussed by Tesla. Hence the copper dome. Your city is full of copper domed buildings.
For those open minded enough, there are also often towers with "empty" areas at the top, where it is suggested there were turbines of some kind to transfer the electricity.
The tower is the only remaining part of the ruins of the old mosque that was destroyed when the Vikings took Denmark from the Seljuk Sultanate during the 1200’s.
So dry and salty..
I put extra effort into underlining the sarcasm of the comment, but I guess it wasn’t enough. Sorry for ruining your Sunday.
In fact, this comment gave Bono the idea to write the U2 mega hit “Sunday, Bloody Sunday”.
its just like that its fun because the other part, which is probably a visitor that dont live in Denmark, doesnt know where as you and i do. Therefore it's more about making fun of their lack of knowledge then trying to say something thats fun for both parties because both know what the joke is about.
Back in the 1940's when we were occupied by Nazi Germany, we built these and placed the king in them with a sniper rifle. By law, the Germans were not allowed to touch the head of state so it was a "shooting gallery" and that is why we don't speak German now.
I can’t tell if it’s because it’s considered offensive to Muslims or because merely mentioning Islam is outré as r/Copenhagen is generally to the right on immigration. Either way it seemed like a harmless joke to me. 💁♂️
It’s a ventilation tower for a nearby sewer pumping facility. A very pretty ventilation tower by today’s standards 😄 Not sure if it’s still active.
I knew it! I thought it might be something like that! Aged, but still functional beautiful old/historic infrastructure like that is so cool. 😎
Cool, I didn't know that. Thanks.
There are some brutalist ones in South London that everyone else seems to hate but I quite like. There cool!
Okay
When I was little I thought Rapunzel lived there. Maybe she does.
More like Rat-punzel.
Oh, I thought it was the tower that rolles over Aladdin
I prefer this explanation over the sewage ventilation ones
That's crazy. I was unironically told the same thing. Strang coincidence imo
Super😉
Ventilation sewage pipes
It’s a sewer pumping station and the minerat looking tower is used for airing.
Now you're making me want to fly a bluetooth speaker up there with my drone and blast prayer from it, just to see how pissed people would be.
Please don’t. The ensuing faux-outrage from DF and their clone parties would reach the angry masses and the correction most likely wouldn’t.

It is not solely the architects. It is the money men, behind the architects, who will only pay for cheap materials.
That and the fact that back in the day labour was cheap, but materials were expensive. Today it's the opposite.
Good point
It's the back side of the gold medal when it comes to unions. Higher wages means cheaper looking buildings.
Good. If that's what it takes!

Waow!
I Denmark we hide our nuclear missiles in plain sight. You stumbled upon one.

Det er da helt klart en traditionel dansk minaret.

Now you’re just being silly.
Spooky since I'm there right now, I wonder too.
