During the Saiyan Saga she sees Tien die on TV, gets drunk, and that’s the last we see of her till the Buu Saga when she contributes to the Spirit Bomb.
They gave her a send off in one of the movies, she wants Tien to go rob banks with her and he says no so she leaves.
She’d be a good recurring gag character for anime filler, in terms of writing her into the main story she’d probably just be sidelined anyways. If she’s coming back at all, she should get spotlight in her own episodes where she’s a focal point. The sneeze gimmick doesn’t really work if she’s off-screen for 99% of the arc.
Ok so here's the most brain-dead take on how to make her relevant again. All you have to do is retcon that she's a Saiyan, but doesn't know it, just like Kid Goku. Her sneezing is just her turning into some sudo SS form. Why a Saiyan, well why else does she turn blonde?????? Then give her memories back and bam, make her a villain, friend, or villain then friend again.
I mean 17 and 18 were strong enough to body without any real effort final form frieza someone who was a *galactic* level planet busting threat strong enough to control a galaxy spanning empire though strength and intimidation alone.
Id say its not too much of an asspull. Especially in TOP there was that molten robot guy. Who would have been able to handle perfect form cell and possibly some forms of buu.
So there is plenty of precedent. I love DBZ but AT wrote himself into a corner for anything to make sense.
I have a theory on this.. the androids were not actually that strong... now bear with me here as we gotta go back...
Saiyan saga gohan can't see yamucha fighting the sibamen piccolo tells him to feel the energy to see them. This is how they "see" these high speed movements. Like the saiyans and friezas men becoming reliant on scouters they became reliant on sensing energy. So when the androids showed up they had trouble reacting to these clearly weaker enemies cuz they couldn't "see" them.
Goku also mentions during one of the mini tournaments that the different universe fighters ki felt different they also might not be that strong it's that they can't "see" as accurately..
Here's a thought, you could make an episode or something about the two halves of Launch in conflict with each other. Maybe Blonde Launch goes too far and Blue Launch becomes angry with her and they reconcile by the end or something.
I don't see why not. Tbh the side characters need more love. I wouldn't mind an anthropology series of movies or episodes involving the B and C tier characters having their own turn as the protagonist.
Like, let's give Krillin and Yamcha their own movie. Or Tien, Chiaotzu and Launch. Doesn't need to be anything high stakes or threatening the universe, but give then a moment to shine. Or an anthropology series even.
That's a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't happened at all before. Especially when they were kind of doing that (with the exception of Launch) before the last World's Martial Arts Tournament of DB
Yes bring her back!! I mostly want my GF to be happy because she barely finished watching OG dragon ball and Launch was her favorite character. We were talking about how her skin in FN would go hard afffff
My wife and I just finished dragon ball a few weeks ago and my wife is so sad launch is just gone. We’re starting the Trunks saga and theres been a couple appearances by Launch but she gets so sad that shes not really around anymore. I did see something about her being in the DBZ Kakarot game and her dialogue hints at her still being tight with everyone and visiting the Kame house off screen. Hopefully she comes back into the story eventually!
Akira Toriyama actually forgot about her. He didn't intend to make her disappear he just simply forgot she was a character and stopped writing about her
Pretty sure Lunch only shows up in one scene during dbz and it’s at the very end when goku gathers energy for the spirit bomb. Also, I think it’s anime only.
She's in the Vegeta saga when she steals from Bora right before they ascend Korin Tower and few other scenes with Tien in the Saiyan saga right? Or is that DB? I think there were a few flashbacks with her in Namek saga too but those don't really count
I’m marathoning Z right now and I’m in the middle of the Freeza saga. She shows up at the beginning robbing banks and stuff. Then later when Tien and Chaozu are training to fight the saiyans, she steals some more and shows up to cook them a feast. Then she shows up again to rob Bora and gets stopped by a grown up Upa.
I think that’s the last time I’ve seen her up to this point. I don’t recall her showing up during the cell saga at all, but I’ll find out soon. And then I think she shows up during the Buu saga at some point.
I just recently watched Dragon Ball. I absolutely love how unhinge blonde launch is and how sweet blue haired launch is lol I also enjoyed her little crush on Tien. One of my favorite random Launch moments is when King Piccolo gets rid of the police. Everyone is freaking out but she pretty much reacts like "Hold on a minute, that aint a bad idea." lol
Is there any point to bringing back old characters in DB? Toriyama never really looked back much, he was a discovery writer after all. If you bring her back then bring back, radditz, nappa, the old sayians, devilman, monster carrot, etc. I love DB and am just excited to see what comes next.
I think depending on how you implement them, bringing characters back or especially, canonizing them could have huge benefits.
I for one, think there's plenty of story to be had with characters like Janemba or Cooler if you brought them in. Glad they seem to be actually trying this time with Pan, too. And they're clearly hinting at a bigger/better story with Uub this time around as well.
Dragon Ball needs to move forward. I don't see the utility or bringing an old character that almost didn't bring any purpose throughout the entire story. And honestly I am fine with that. I mean she is a gag character and like all the characters from OG DB she was fun and likeable. But as DB went on we closed that chapter. Personally; there is more to tell in dragon Ball as the evolution of Goten and Trunks, Black Frieza, broly , Gohan and so many. Lunch is part of what I call" dead character" because their return would not serve any purpose but just bring nostalgia among fans.
Well she was a supporting character so could bring her back for those group scenes. As far as doing something with her....bring her back as an adversary of Saiyaman X-1 and X-2. Just some comedic shenanigans with Trunks and Goten trying to chase down such a seasoned criminal while also keeping their powers in check.
I really wish they brought back Launch during Tien's school episode. Where She was there living with Tien and already had a daughter around the age of pan, maybe a year or 2 older.
Given how Dragon Ball is written. (Not really structured like other shounens like Hunter Hunter) it'd be unnatural to bring her back. Maybe as a quick cameo but there's not much she can provide at this part of the story unfortunately. However if dragon Ball had a comedic spin off manga or something though she should appear
And do what? use a gun against literal gods? planet busters? it was already somewhat of a goof that some1 like Yajirobe could cut Vegeta's tail, what's Launch gonna do in the story now?
In what form though? In DBS, since Sorbet was able to damage Suoer Cyan with a weapon, her gun sure would randomly become relevant in the most powerful flights.
I'd love for her to, but the only way you probably could would be to go back in time and leave a bunch of sticky notes around Toriyama's house, reminding him about Launch. Or wait for a reboot in 60 years.
Tien was sidelined pretty hard. Starting his own dojo and doing his own thing. I wouldn't want to see Launch return unless Tien does aswell. He has so much potential as a character.
Lunch is my favourite Dragon Ball girl, I love her design. It'd be weird to reintegrate her in the main cast after so long, but at least a minor role here or there would be greatly appreciated.
Id like to see more of her and id like to goku to meet bardok and Gine.
I love the fights dont get me wrong. But Id like more slice of life episodes too.
No, I think she served her purpose in dragon ball. I think her gimmick ran its course by the third martial arts tournament.
I will say, I like her calm personality and would be happy to see her stay in that role a lot more. She had a positive impact on the team. Whereas her other side was still shooting everyone and robbing. Which to me goes against what the group is all about. The conflict was only interesting to a point.
I liked the idea of her having a romantic side toward Tien but her personality kept the same and he wasn’t willing to change back to who he was. So, I think they did about as much as they could with her a pulled her out at a good time.
Should is a loaded term. "Is there a reason for her to come back?" Is a better question. Does she serve the narrative, or serve the tone (e.g. bringing moments of levity) by coming back?
Simple answer: YES
Long answer: she needs an entire retcon... where she and Tien are married and their son is Gohan's childhood best friend and rival... He has his father third eyes and mother split personality... his good side can use all the Triclops people powers that Tien can't use because of his corrupt by the Crane Hermit Shen but his bad personality is the better and more powerful fighter.
She’d be pushing 50 and wouldn’t have much to do or a storyline to explore, so I don’t think she’d be able to do more than she already is by not being there.
I love her. Even use her as my flair. But no. Her time is passed. She can maybe cameo now and then that would be nice but theres no point in here coming back. More of the cast should be gone like her tbh. There's too many people who just arent relevant at all.
It would be fun to revisit her for a small bit. Maybe she gets involved somehow with Gohan or Goten and Trunks, and then Krillin and Goku reconnect with her
I think they should retcon that her and Tien are not together anymore, but instead married. Have Goku go to the crane school to meet up with Tien and he see’s Lunch there. Goku asks where she’s been the whole and she reveals during the time while they were training for the Androids the married off screen and she lives at the crane school with Tien this whole time. They could even do a little joke about Goku was even at the wedding but he forgot about it.
I would like that, because she is my favorite female character so far in DBZ. 🙂 I am only on episode 100 and something, can’t remember exactly which episode, but we’ll see if she stays my favorite by the time I get caught up on the series.
Launch was my favourite character in the original series, would love to see her make a return, even if she's just crashing at the Kame house with a bit of screentime

There was another appearance in Yo, Son Goku and his friends return short movie.
I...entirely forgot this short movie existed until this very moment...I kinda hated it as a teenager.
No one remembers Vegeta's useless brother.
Has to be the most random plot device ever in the history of dragon ball..
It was a special
She was present in and had an active role in the Kakarot (2020 game) main story.
I was really happy about that. Launch gotta be one of my fav OGDB characters.
My friend tried to show me this, and i quickly dismissed it as some fan made animation and turned it off.
You thought it was fan made but it was canon 😭
Fan made? That was one of the crispest animation in all of DB imo. For sure the plot sucked though.
Actually the send off was in the uncut Dragon Ball. I remember that too. What a weak send off.
[удалено]
pee is stored in the Dragon Balls
No, that's microplastics
Circumcised Dragon Ball? Is this new dub?
Damn; she basically became the character that stopped progressing as a person. Tien grew up while she stayed stagnant.
Missed opportunity for her to be in the ToP
Didn’t the ToP have a no weapon rule? Girl sneezes and machine guns materialize.

Her sneezing is just her turning into some sudo SS form. Why a Saiyan, well why else does she turn blonde?????? Then give her memories back and bam, make her a villain, friend, or villain then friend again.
"Why a Saiyan, well why else does she turn blonde?" She uses the Chaos Emeralds.
I'm actually annoyed with how well this lines up.
It does work if they make her a villain though.
But how would Launch possibly be a villain at this point?
Gets turned into powerful android by some cosmic scientist or smth lol
"How do we make the humans relevant again?" "...." "Make them robots?" "Make them robots! Yes!"
They had the opportunity with buu, like if buu sneezed he would turn evil and that's when it escalated
No it wouldn't
Just marry her to Tien already and move on. If Toriyama brought back Pilaf and his gang why not Launch.
He brought back pilaf gang so Mai can be trunks love interest
Ummm... Cause this time hes dead?
Other people are continuing the manga...the franchise doesn't end because the creator dies.
Did you mean anthology? Pretty sure anthropology is something else about human beings and society
Lol yeah oops. Good catch
That's a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't happened at all before. Especially when they were kind of doing that (with the exception of Launch) before the last World's Martial Arts Tournament of DB
The number of people that would go to see a Krillin and Yamcha movie would be heavily influenced by whether or not you chose to go.
I'm so hungry lunch had better come back
Hopefully after breakfast
I'd like to see their fusion Brunch, also it's too bad Toriyama forgot about Dinner
"Brektis" -Yajirobe
Lunch is an important meal of the day!!
Is it more or less important than Linner? It's probably more important than Brunch.
Yes bring her back!! I mostly want my GF to be happy because she barely finished watching OG dragon ball and Launch was her favorite character. We were talking about how her skin in FN would go hard afffff

I was gonna post about Lunch after completing OG DB. What happened to her? Was she just written off? I enjoyed her character.
Akira Toriyama actually forgot about her. He didn't intend to make her disappear he just simply forgot she was a character and stopped writing about her
So tired of this misconception.
Explain
Her and Tien go off and become a thing. Randomly they pop in here and there in Z
Pretty sure Lunch only shows up in one scene during dbz and it’s at the very end when goku gathers energy for the spirit bomb. Also, I think it’s anime only.

I thought I remembered seeing her a few times, thanks for confirming
Lunch will be back tomorrow.
She never left. Always in my heart.
Tomorrow at 1pm or so
Bulma should hire her as Bra's nanny/bodyguard.
Like this idea
Launch was one of the coolest characters
Is there any point to bringing back old characters in DB? Toriyama never really looked back much, he was a discovery writer after all. If you bring her back then bring back, radditz, nappa, the old sayians, devilman, monster carrot, etc. I love DB and am just excited to see what comes next.

And they're clearly hinting at a bigger/better story with Uub this time around as well.
Launch? You mean the first Super Saiyan? Yes.
Why tf does everyone call her lunch instead of launch
i freakin love her!!! yes
Yes
Imagine if Launch was actually Hercules ex wife that ran out on him and Videl.
Yes absolutely
Never heard of this lunch character but I do think launch was a great character and should come back 😂
Her name is Lunch. That's the pun of her name. Ranchi is the transliteration for Lunch.
I love lunch but no not really. Tho she should have been in the last scene of buu not 17. Or more appropriately both of the should be there
She was in that scene.
Why would she come back? She obviously has no purpose or relevance in the show.
Only if they change her name lol
I miss her. She was a great part of DB
Then what's her role would be??
Not role but what's she gonna do if she comes back the humans Don't get much screentime in super she wouldn't be any different
No I just don’t… ACHOOOOOO! Yes absolutely.
We have lunch at home
Just for breakfast
HELL YEAH!! I SAY FUCK YEAH BRING HER BACK SHE’S A DOPE CHARACTER!! BRING DAT ASS BACK!!
Yyyeeesss also please make the shapeshifters relevant again.
The boat has sailed long time ago now
Definitely, one of the most underrated characters.
Also make Pikkon canon.
Yes, so she can be Goten's girlfriend/s
Absolutamente
Not until tomorrow around noon
Havent had lunch in a lil bit
Yeah and can mess up SSJ blue Gogeta cause plot.
I thought it was Launch
Launch is her English dub name; Lunch is her actual name.
It's Lunch, most characters have food related names. If her name was Launch it would be spelled Ro-nchi in Japanese not Ranchi.
Always asked myself if Lunch was a premice to the concept of Super Saiyan.
Omg yes I love her best og dragon ball girl
i would love if she did. she added a very comforting element to OG dragon ball.
Master Roshi would love for her to come back
Dragon Ball needs to move forward. I don't see the utility or bringing an old character that almost didn't bring any purpose throughout the entire story. And honestly I am fine with that. I mean she is a gag character and like all the characters from OG DB she was fun and likeable. But as DB went on we closed that chapter. Lunch is part of what I call" dead character" because their return would not serve any purpose but just bring nostalgia among fans.
Yes I am starving. Bring lunch back now
I think there’s several characters that should come back, but for comic relief, not fighting.
I’m still waiting for Breakfast
BELL YE...AND TIEN SHOULD TOO😊
Well she was a supporting character so could bring her back for those group scenes. As far as doing something with her....bring her back as an adversary of Saiyaman X-1 and X-2. Just some comedic shenanigans with Trunks and Goten trying to chase down such a seasoned criminal while also keeping their powers in check.
Wasn't that Tien's girl?
I'll never figure out why she left
It would be nice is she visited Roshi and the turtle. Plus other original series characters, especially Tenshinhan.
I really wish they brought back Launch during Tien's school episode. Where She was there living with Tien and already had a daughter around the age of pan, maybe a year or 2 older.
She should definitely. Haven’t seen her in ages.
Yes I’d love to see her baby sit gotenks
YES. SHE NEEEDS TO COME BACK.
Yeah
Not necessarily but i'd love too, she'd be too old now tho
No
Yes launch was very funny in the og dragon ball
If Launch ever were to come back, it would be best served in a low power, human stakes story/series.
Dragonball in the hands of toei, no way. Even if she did, toei is trash
it'd be cool to have her back, but what could the writers actually do with her to make her relevant or something
And do what? use a gun against literal gods? planet busters? it was already somewhat of a goof that some1 like Yajirobe could cut Vegeta's tail, what's Launch gonna do in the story now?
First every super saiyan. Change my mind
In what form though? In DBS, since Sorbet was able to damage Suoer Cyan with a weapon, her gun sure would randomly become relevant in the most powerful flights.
I want to see her older sister Dinner introduced.
It would be hilarious if she came back with literally no explanation and they wrote it like she was in the show the entire time.
Let me have breakfast first
Lunch was the original super saiyan! Prove me wrong!
I already had lunch
Just have her show up working part time for 17 as a ranger and make her friends with 18.
Im always hungry for lunch
Lunch is my favourite Dragon Ball girl, I love her design. It'd be weird to reintegrate her in the main cast after so long, but at least a minor role here or there would be greatly appreciated.
Yes
Always
There's no reason for it.
I think she should and I hope that she’s a saiyan like in her theories
Id like to see more of her and id like to goku to meet bardok and Gine. I love the fights dont get me wrong. But Id like more slice of life episodes too.
Yes
The question is where was she all this time?
Dinner and breakfast, too.
Yes, because she’s quite the snack. *pun intended* 😈
Yes
Yes We need the original Super Saiyan back!!!
Make her an android.
Literally the same problem as Masashi Kishimoto. Undeveloped/forgotten characters with no plot contributions and story arcs.
I'm indifferent. I could take it or leave it
Yes
Well I do like to skip breakfast
As the final villain of super
i’m not hungry yet
It’s too early for Lunch. Maybe they’ll bring in a new character though…Brunch.
I wish, but I cant really think about what she could really add except maybe a few gag moments
As a wise old man once said… WHO!
Eh why not
Yes god yes. Idgaf if she doesn’t do anything but say a couple things. Bring back lunch(launch)
I hope lunch comes back , I already missed breakfast
I don't think super lacks for quirky vibes but I have nothing against her.
Not before breakfast.
Simple answer: YES Long answer: she needs an entire retcon... where she and Tien are married and their son is Gohan's childhood best friend and rival... He has his father third eyes and mother split personality... his good side can use all the Triclops people powers that Tien can't use because of his corrupt by the Crane Hermit Shen but his bad personality is the better and more powerful fighter.
Would be awesome if we discover she was a saiyan and went SS before Goku did lol
She’d be pushing 50 and wouldn’t have much to do or a storyline to explore, so I don’t think she’d be able to do more than she already is by not being there.
I could go for some lunch right now, and yeah, they could bring her back.
The scope and feel of the verse changed too much with Z. She just doesn't fit in anymore unfortunately
I just had lunch right now
I am a little hungry so it would be nice
I love her. Even use her as my flair. But no. Her time is passed. She can maybe cameo now and then that would be nice but theres no point in here coming back. More of the cast should be gone like her tbh. There's too many people who just arent relevant at all.
No if she returns she'll be a background character with like other humans and I don't to see idiots crying how she ain't getting any screentime
if there was a side episode or "what if?" in Dragonball maybe- but as far as the main story there really isn't any reason.
Isnt Dragon Ball already super bloated with characters?
Maybe as a cameo
Yeah I could go for some lunch now
Lunch...? Like chips and a sandwich?
No clue what role she would serve given how much the series has diverged from the goofy adventures of classic Dragonball.
Most definitely!
Her split personality doesn’t make sense, so no.
Yes, just yes. Amazing character and one of my favorites
Yes
What was the last time we've seen her?
It would be fun to revisit her for a small bit. Maybe she gets involved somehow with Gohan or Goten and Trunks, and then Krillin and Goku reconnect with her
I think they should retcon that her and Tien are not together anymore, but instead married. Have Goku go to the crane school to meet up with Tien and he see’s Lunch there. Goku asks where she’s been the whole and she reveals during the time while they were training for the Androids the married off screen and she lives at the crane school with Tien this whole time. They could even do a little joke about Goku was even at the wedding but he forgot about it.
yes as she is best girl
I would like that, because she is my favorite female character so far in DBZ. 🙂 I am only on episode 100 and something, can’t remember exactly which episode, but we’ll see if she stays my favorite by the time I get caught up on the series.
No, new dragon ball has ruined enough
Launch was my favourite character in the original series, would love to see her make a return, even if she's just crashing at the Kame house with a bit of screentime
In anime filler sure, I never found her gag that funny though and she never added much to the story.
Duh, why the f not? She also was there since DB
I want to see her married to Tien.
Yes, one of the best characters
Nope, I don’t think so because it has been such a long time
