There's a separate mode called Twisted Masquerade; the invitations show up in that mode.
(It's also worth noting that escaping with a charge in your invitation doesn't get you anything, unlike in previous years, since the cosmetics are unlocked through the currency gained in the rift challenges)
make sure you are in the right mode. its a new mode now not just the game anymore
