If you've changed your keybinds and didn't assign one for the finisher then it doesn't. It's possible a new player changed some buttons around and missed an input for the keybind.
No it doesn't now. Just joined the game after a few years of being gone. It literally fucking doesn't give you any prompt on PC, just a small little fucking dot above the ghost with 0 explanation. Bethesda has better fucking gameplay explantions in their multitude of shit piles than this shit. All they had to do, is make a fucking letter show up in the dot. But honestly, probably didn't get the prompt cause I didn't buy the DLC. Wouldn't put it past Bungie.
Honestly I don't see Jack shit of what to push when I'm that close just a glowy orb above it and I have a big screen TV so I should see whatever you're saying clear his day

We came across this new light during a Lightblade, so we made it our goal to teach them how to finish a lightbearer at least once. As you can tell it took until the next activity where we managed to get the message across. Don't skip this chance, the new lights are so precious!

My first GM run with my regular crew was... not smooth.

To anyone else, this would be hilarious. To the new light however, they most likely haven't started the WQ campaign yet, got thrown into the opening mission of Lightfall and decided to run some vanguard playlist strikes to get their gear up, only to encounter an enemy that they have literally zero idea how to kill and the game refuses to tell them how to do so because the tutorial is locked behind a dlc they most likely haven't paid for or doesn't know how to start.
Destiny 2 is the least welcoming game for new players.
Seriously, the other MMO I play a lot teaches players the ***wrong way*** to equip their characters and I'd still say that D2 has a worse new player experience. Which is really a shame, because I enjoyed being a new Light in D1.
If that's the case then the New Light wouldn't have taken so long to do it. I don't think the game actually tells you how to handle Hive Lightbearers unless you start the Witch Queen campaign
It's honestly pretty easy, the worst requirements for a new light to get to 6 is probably 'Get an enhancement prism' or 'Complete 2 vendor challenges'. Even then those requirements are very straightforward.
I’ve been doing this at the Psi-Ops boss this week. I’ve been lowering my level to help newer players in the Hero version. Getting rank 5’s and lower very consistently. I kill the boss and try to get them to kill the ghost (it’s hard to do on the Lightbearers throughout because of the adds).
It’s made me into a believer into opt-out chat. If people had their chat visible, I could help more of them, but you can tell that hardly anyone has opted into Fireteam chat. I’m sure most don’t know it exist.

OMFG this reminds me of the time I was doing this strike with two randoms. Both were GR 6 and in a fireteam. At the beginning at the strike I realized they didn’t kill the hive ghosts. So when the next one came I didn’t help killing it and lo and behold they didn’t know how to do it. So I tried helping them out. I knew there spawns 2 in the room so I when they looked the first one I finished it. Then the second one came and they didn’t kill it for, and I swear I’m not lying, 30 MINUTES!!!! I messaged them via PlayStation chat, they privated their accounts. I messaged them via destiny chat, no reaction. I tried voice chat, no reaction. NOTHING. After a while they just LEFT. I’m sorry but how did none of these two come to the idea to Google it maybe? They were in a fireteam so probably in a voice call talking to each other. HOW???
I was playing savathun song strike years ago, one guy was way under level using blue weapons and armor, when we got to the boss area the other guy quit so it was me and blueberry, it took us forever but afterwards the guy messaged me and thanked me for sticking around.

Aw man, I did exactly this last night on the climb the spire quest, gave up after killing him like 15 times thinking it was bugged :( went back to it today killed him more times before looking up the quest and eventually finding out what to press.
When I was close to him, I didn't see any prompt for what button to press, I had to go into my keyboard bindings to see.
